Something I don't understand

I see posts suggesting to make the level 23 nuke adept III, but also most are suggesting to take the training spell BSS at 30. Isn't BSS better the adept 3 DD?

If thats so I don't think I'd want to spend the money to have a little better nuke for just 7 levels. They go too fast 20-30.. heh. How close in damage are they? And is there something else at level 30 that would be a good choice?

Main reason people still get Dark Distortion Adept III are...

1. you will still do uber damage for that 7 lvls till BSS

2. Dark Distortion still deals more damage than BSS if you have Adept III

3. BSS has DoT which doesnt stack with others. ex. another warlock

4. Some situations are better for one or the other...

Even with BSS at lvl 30 i would still if i had to pick only 1 T3 Adept III, it would still always be Dark Distortion

Icedragon has the all the reasons right methinks. I personally found that Dark Distortion Adept 3 outdamaged BSS till I was about level 36 or 37. After that BSS definately does more damage AND the life tap that it does is VERY helpful. But in all honesty, I used Dark Distortion Adept 3 till about level 36 so I really got like 13 levels of use with that spell. Not bad for the 15 G I paid for the jasper SMILEY

I never updated Dark distortion passed adept 1. At the time , I really didnt see the point and spending 40 gold on a spell that I would soon out level. What I did do is take BBS at level 30 and i saved my money so i could buy Nil distortion in adept 3.

That's a good point. Adept 3 dark distortion is nice but I wouldn't be blowing all your cash on it. If you have the means, its a good upgrade...if its gonna break your bank, you can do without it.

On my server the adept 1 dark distortion was going for like 8-10 G. Yet I could pick up the raw Jasper for 15 G. So, I just found a buddy to make me the Adept 3.

I've sorta made bad picks for my 10 and 20 training so far.. don't want to mess up level 30 also, heh.

I took the Upgraded DOT at 10 and the Improved version of Painful meditation at 20.

I think most of the difference in opinion comes from players on different servers.

I bought DD Ad3 and didn't pay more than 15gp for it (not expensive at all). I used it until 37 thats when BSS started really outdamaging it...also that extra kick from DD Ad3 is good 30+ since you may play in a group that has more than one Warlock and since the DoT effects of BSS don't stack and the life tap may not be as useful in group situations DD Ad3 comes in handy.

But yes, take BSS at 30 no question...you will not regret it.

On number 2 it doesnt outdamage BSS in the end. Until level 37ish DD will do more damage, but after that BSS will start to do more. Also if you include the DoT on BSS it will outdamage DD Adept3 from level 30 i think.

I see some misconceptions here... but here is a deal

a) BSS will outdamage Adept 3 DD at lvl 32

b) the only reason to have Adept 3 of DD is be able stack with other warlock in group within raid stacking several warlock with BSS never a problem (we have 3 warlock on raid never had a slightest problem with BSS)
