Why would you save a rare when you could use it now?

Come on people, get a grip on this.  Devastation should be the LAST skill you upgrade to adept III, because IT'S LEVEL 50 !

Upgrade all those other important spells, as you get them.  Then when you hit 50, you can upgrade Devastation.  Then, you can go back when you have the extra money or rares, and upgrade whatever else seems necessary.

Let me simplify....  Devastation = 50 = last.

And don't even tell me you can't afford to buy a ruby / rhodium from the broker.

well considering right now i cannot afford a ruby or rhodium....im glad i chose devastation as my adept 3 of choice...alot of us cannot afford the rares and are not that lucky to get a ruby/rhodium and when we do get one you go get the best spell you can get

I can't afford to pay the going rate for rares on my server.  The ruby/rhodium goes for 1-2 platinum on the broker.  Sometimes you can see them for 80 gold, but they haven't come down from there.. and I hope they do.

I frequently see people on this forum discussing how all their spells are Adept 3 .. I can only dream about Adept 3's.  I think our low population on Lucan D'Lere is there reason the prices are so high.. there aren't many people out there harvesting, and those who do find a rare sell it for an exceptional amount of coin.

Okay, back on topic!

I do agree with pretty much everything else CoebyWu wrote.  I wouldn't save a rare for Devestation.  It's level 50 and I'm sure it would be a fabulous spell to upgrade to Adept 3, but it would make more sense in my mind to put that one off untl you get there.

I'd rather make sure I had devastation waiting for me than to procrastinate and be [Removed for Content] out when the time comes.

Nil distortion isn't a t5 spell.  It doesn't use a ruby.

Aspect of Darkness is pretty blah upgrade, at level 49 my Adept III Aspect is as effective as a level 50s Adept I, i know because we can overwrite each other and no stats change, so it adds one level of effectivness.

Wicked Gift is a pretty minor upgrade.

Torment of Shadows is suprisingly nice, and a lil side comment, it has the longest range of all our spells, i'll let you figure out what thats good for.

Grisly Contract is a wonderful ruby spent, as is Nil Absolution

Aura of Emptiness has the unfortunate problem that its duration does not beat the level 40 training spell, so no ruby for that!

I got 2 rubies and 1 is definately goign for Devastation. The second I have asked a efw warlocks and watched the boards a lot, but haven't decided yet. If they ever fix Soul Flay to be like Noxious bolt that would be an obvious choice, but as it stands I been leaning towards Grisly Contract.
