I was reading another post about Ice Nova and it mentioned Nek3 being a good place to farm. I've been there once with a full group of 70's and we failed miserably. Are yall seriously saying we can get past all that and root/nuke the nameds solo? Is there a lockout timer at Nek3 after I kill one?

I can't imagine many are solo-farming nek3.  I'm sure it can be done, but would be such a pain it wouldn't be worth the effort.  You'd be better off going in there with a group of friends as often as possible.

a coercer could do it pretty damned easy, and quite quickly I might add.

add a healer into the mix to keep the uber charmed pet alive, and they could do it in under 15 min.  I'm not going to say what pet though.

I usually trio Nek 3, two wizard and a healer, takes a lil longer than the coercer but that works fine with me. Most Coercer usually charm the possesed box or something like that and those things do [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] tons of dps so its easier for them.

i have boxed the zone (with a shaman) on a regular basis. i would say that due to the nature of the mobs in the zone, soloing it is currently impossible.

Heh, I just got Ice Nova (Master I) the other day in Nek3, unfortunately for you soloing wizards it dropped from the Epic x2, the named version, so good luck rooting that...:smileyvery-happy:

You guys are SERIOUSLY 2 boxing or duoing nek 3? I've been in there twice now with full group of fairly decent players and had a heck of a time doing "well" (we did clear but it wasn't fast and there were deaths). What in the heck are we doing wrong if a full group is having problems?

dont take this the wrong way because i'm not implying your not able to do the zone just a general statement:

raid gear trivializes heroic content.

We, umm... no.. I "know some people" that tried the zone out yesterday... "They" got routinely trashed over and over and over. Also "they" (a few of them anyway) have a fair amount of raid gear, average about 40% of slots are fabled or raid legendary. "Their" group consisted of a Guard, Wiz, 2x Swash, Temp, and Necro. "They" vow to never speak of that incident again!

So, tell me how it can be duoed or trioed so I can, ummm... give "them" pointers...

In my several runs through Nek 3...I have had no problems blasting through the zone with all lvl 70's in good gear...at least half raid gear if I were to approximate.

The keys in my opinion are a Tank that knows what they are doing/ a solid healer/ then the rest dps will easily clear the zone.

A knowledgable grp that u trust would really help also, dont go in with a buncha noobs that'll kill the grp.1 good tank1 healer(yes it can be solo heal)and a [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] tons of dps soyou'll get through the zone faster and easier15-30 mins is all it take to get through Nek 3, thats not killing alot of trash mobs, just target mainly the nameds P.S..............Grp invis would really help, most of the thing in there cant see invis so u can basically skip through about 75% of the zone without dealing with the trash mobs

Also any masters that drop from any named mob  in Nek 3 will be lvl 70 M1, no matter what named it is so its not a certain named you should be hunting but kill them all

I used to routinely duo this zone (with the exception of the epicx2) with a shaman. This is the same shaman that I used to clear HoF, Den, and the other KoS instances with, so we know how eachother play. It is perfectly possible to duo nek3 if you know what you are doing. We are both raid geared, and it takes us about 45 mins to an hour to complete (largely due to needing to conserve power on the longer fights). Although stuff has a lot of hitpoints, and hits hard, most can be skipped with invis.A friend regularly 3-boxes nek3 ( just him) with a brawler / summoner / druid trio (again raid geared). He has a pretty easy time in there, and does his runs in about half an hour. Not sure why you would have so much trouble with the zone. Perhaps it is just a matter of learning the zone, and leaving any incompetent people at home. The 3 of us also regularly team up and box nizara too (6 toons between the 3 of us - i usually box a chanter for that). i remember when we first started doing that zone, it was pretty rough in there - once you work out the quirks of a zone and get the strats down, then it becomes a lot easier over time.

Telling me that you can do it doesn't help, as many have said that. Telling me HOW (or just give some pointers) to trio it would, however. None of the mobs "they" faced we too powerful, it was that it seemed impossible to face just one or two "groups". And then you have a wipe.

I plan on trioing this zone with family, temp, pally, and wiz. But I want to go back in there with a little knowledge of how to successfully own this joint.

I do Nek 3 probably everyday with my labs/claymore geared Bruiser alt tanking and only 1 healer (preferably shaman but doesnt matter) and a minimum of 3 dps.We just invis to the named mobs and are in and out in like 20 minutes. It's a very easy way to get lvl 70 masters. We have gotten like five lvl 70 masters out of the last seven or so 20 minute runs.Daenarys70 WarlockMob SquadKithicor

that a good set up bring about 2 invis totems for the paly and 2 for the templar.

the roamers are the only one's that really see invis, and you can skip most of the zone, the only challenging encounter you'll have is the x2 golem, but even then its not that difficult.

its not really an x2, they just gave it that tag so you cant root/stun/stifle/mez it like you can the heroics in the zone.  it has marginally more hp than the final boss.

fyi a tip for the x2 epic for all you paper tanks.

make sure you bring a tunarian aligned player with you if you cant duo this mob. (they have a 1 min aoe root that lasts for 1 min against epics, and also stifles them for 20 sec - with 0 chance to break)

Duoing with your Warden again, huh?

Hey, you're a wizard man.   No fair hiding behind a warden as a tank.

Stand in there and tank like the wimp you are!   After all, who wears the pants in that group.    Wait a minute.... I think I know the answer to that .

rofl.

Have you two done Southis yet?

The laziness factor runs deep here.   It's just too far down to him for us to have a go at the moment.   But the challenge burns brightly on the brain.....

lol.

I can only tank up to lvl 67 named with her healing, its just easier to root/nuke stuff since their roots are all but invincible, especially when they double the aoe and single target like we can.

Sothis was a pita, we both tried to take him down for her hat quest, we duoed all the way down to him with no problems, but his root immunity and incomming dps was too much for me to tank, (she was only lvl 66 at the time)Sothis can be snared with numbing cold though, and we wound up trying to kill him in the 36s it lasts, which was not enough time evenwith wrath + manaburn + ice nova (sothis still had about 20% hp after that combo) if she was sol ro aligned we could probably have her use incinerate to finish him off.

we ended up having to get a friend swing by on his tank but isnt too well geared so we brought in another healer and took him out with the 4 of us,  the rest of the named in the zone is cake.

I know it well.  45s root (both) and 5% chance to break.   She didn't even know not to use dots, it's so reliable.

Sothis ......., but his root immunity

root immunity???   is that post EoF?

I've not done him since Eof but definitely rooted him when we did it with berzerker friend (3 total) for all our hats back pre EoF.    The Warden was just 67 then, but Berzerker and Wiz were 70.

I rooted to let her catch up the heals.   Yes, it clanked a couple of times, but so did Ice Nova, but eventually it took, and I kept trying because we needed a time out.   I just backed out of range.

We rooted him a 2nd time also, to run for a few bottles to kill adds.

he has a big fat immune pop up when you root him the icon stays up on maintained window but as with other root immunity type spells the mob doesn't get rooted.
