Has anyone tried this post LU24..... last night it was draining 938hp and after cast I would have the icon in my maintained bar.... it would disappear before casting 1 spell and the next spell I casted was not a crit.

Was wondering if anyone else noticed this? Thanks

what i've noticed, is it drains roughly 1000 hp and yes, it's in the maintained window for 60secs, if not used it will "expire" and it only works for 1 spell, so I guess make that 1 spell count  heehee inc.. ice nova SMILEY I'm kinda disappointed, it would be awesome if it would last for 1 minute, and nuke away during that minute.

Maybe you had surging tempest on the mob.

Totally agree. I basically cast it right after using FS w/ Ice Nova and end up either cancelling the last 1 or 2 ticks of it or holding off on casting my 2nd FS/IN. Would love this fixed without nerfing the damage.

I am so with you on this one, I get [Removed for Content] when it does that.

Yep... i hate that.  Uses up the cast on Concussive as well.  It should really just act like a dot, not a string of hits, because as it is now, I think the game is perceiving Surging Tempest as a new spell attack every time it ticks off.

That's not right.

I will be getting catalyst soon (2 more AA lvls).  Reading this it appears there is a problem and surging tempest is setting off catalyst, or acting as your 1 crit spell.  My question is, do any other DOTs like immolation or rending icicles, procs off iceshield etc.  have this problem or is it just surging tempest?

ST is the only one that I know of, since each tick counts as a new spell.

Yeah ST is the only issue and it is annoying.  Please fix devs. It ios possible to time it between ticks but not easy to do while casting spells.  Basically wait for the tick then hit freehand/ice nova.  Trouble is I basically use the orange numbers to time this and they are hard to see in a raid sometimes, and then to a proc can look like ST damage.

Hmmm I hadn't even been using surging tempest since it didn't seem like it did that much damage but i guess if it goes off for all 6 procs it adds up.

lol st accounts for a large chunk of dmg on raid targets.  at m1 on a fully debuffed mob it can hit for over 2k per tick.

I checked and mine is only adept 1 which probably explains why i never thought to use it.  can't say i've ever seen the master for that on the broker but I will have to upgrade to adept III.

Although on my first T7 raid last night I was doing 1k - 1200dps which didn't seem that bad.  Especially since I only have 22AA points (no catalyst or 8%damage bonus)

might want to make forge of ro adept3 if you haven't been using surging tempest i'm willing to bet you haven't been using forge of ro.

ST has the interrupt/stun component as well.  There is just no reason to not use it.  Theres really no reaon to not use any of our dmg spells in a big fight.  It's definitely a problem that ST is functioning as a series of casts rather than a DoT.  I really hope that its not going to elicit a "working as intended" b/c that really would be wrong.

That's how the spell is designed...it has a recurring power cost and is basically just a spell that automatically recasts.  On this note, frost shields will also proc from catalyst...which is annoying but I've just learned to time my casting order.

I am not a computer gaming expert by any means, but couldn't they just add code to not allow aa abilities to work on only the spells: surging tempest or frost shield? -- Rather than having to totally redesign surging tempest to work as a dot. Or, you could just write the aa to work only on spells that causes more than 5k damage. I'm sure we wouldn't complain !

I have managed to alter my casting order to work around this, but there is a lag time between Ice Nova recast and Surging Tempest effect time of about 10 seconds, if you cast ST immediately after IN and refresh. Pain in the [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] and hope they fix it very soon.
