![]() I know this post won't change a thing, but i figured i'd give it a shot before my last couple of days. So far, in pvp matches i've been 50/50 against people that knew how to pvp thier characters. But I log on today and find my stifle from insta cast to .5 cast. Now i don't even get to cast before i'm dead... and to top it off, the duration for stun now is only 3.5 instead of 4secs... I'm sorry, but this crap just killed wizards in pvp. You're only gonna beat people that don't have a clue how to pvp. Bascailly, wizards jsut got the nerf that ended our pvp... thanks.... I will be cancelling account, if this isn't changed soon, and i mean soon....period. |

![]() Stifle cast time has been .5s ever since LU14. Im not sure any class has instant stifle anymore. I believe the coercer I killed in 8sec said his stifle was over 3 sec. which may explain why it was such a brief battle. I actually hope SOE doesn't get caught in a spiral trying to balance pvp. I think each class has their strengths and weaknesses which can be exploited by certain classes due to their native skills. e.g. I root a guardian from 20m and stun and nuke to death. If my root resists he's on me and its close. Scout is rooted and hits me with a couple poison arrows. I'm dead in about 12sec. |

YEah that was set at .5 secs a while ago. The good news is the upgrade - Lapse lasts for 6 secs. I agree with Grimdayl pvp is fun but balancing players for PVP should be the last thing sony's looking at. Especially since there are arena pets available as an avenue for PVP play.

![]() I win plenty of duels.. but the biggest problem about pvp is....
EVERY CLASS HAS A STUN OR STIFLE.
Really really screws casters over or any class really...... stifle and stun is way way too over used in this game.. even by the mobs |

![]() Reminds me of EQ1. Druids owned everyone, and if you were a warrior, you got owned by everyone. I was a warrior in eq1 and I was indeed owned by everyone. Only time I ever killed anyone is when my friend let me borrow her Cloak of flames, now that made dueling another melee pretty interesting lol, but not everyone could have a cof for themselves. But then again, when it came to raiding or grouping, nobody could hold the front line as well as me. Oh well though, best thing to look at is that if your a wizard is that your more useful in a lot of other ways than pvp just as a warrior was in eq1. You add a massive portion of damage to a group/raid. If your exping, you can literally solo for quicker exp then being in a group. Heroic mobs including named mobs are a breeze to solo long as they don't cast. And even if they do cast depending on the potency of damage of spell used against you, you can get around it even though it's a gamble. First thing I thought of when they changed our instant stifle was [Removed for Content], now how am I going to even compete against pvping against a berserker? I'd be dead in 9 seconds easy. But then I thought about what I gained out of it all in the bigger picture. And being a better class for yourself and others you may group/raid with is much better then something cosmetic as /dueling. If your a wizard though, try some group action team vs team in arena with your character, least then you can put up somewhat of a fight. Or pick on classes that you have an advantage on... Guardians seem to be my favorite. I don't have any trouble rooting and keeping a guardian rooted while I nuke the crap outta him. There are classes out there that can be won against. Just like that berserker that can take you down in 9 seconds, he'll get taken down by other classes as well, even though not in 9 seconds hehe. |

![]() You log on 'today' and suddenly find your stifle changed to .5? This was done less than a week after the revamp, definitely BEFORE Live Update #14. Seems to me that either you don't pay attention at all, haven't played in the last 3 weeks, or are just a troll. This game is not and has never been centered around PvP. There is no way you're telling me you stuck around EQ2 for an entire year just waiting to be able to /duel people. If you are canceling your account over a change you think is new that was made weeks ago (and really was NOT about PvP, a 10-sec insta-stifle against the wussy expansion mobs is INSANE), then go on ahead. Part of playing an MMO is being able to deal with change. No one says you have to like it. However, freaking out over a single spell is pointless. Picking a class to play based around a single spell is pointless, especially just a stifle. |

Well, the devs have claimed they have separate dials for how spells work between PvP and PvE. Not saying it should work the old way in PvP, but I think they could make it that way if they wanted.

Sometimes, when I'm upset, I just say to myself "Hey! Don't be so upset!", then I'm not as upset. -SonicZap-

![]() I am sorry but I really do not give a [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] about PvP. This game is not a PvP game, never has been, never will be. There are plenty of FPS games out there for those who enjoy that kind of thing, you can also go play WoW with all the 10 year old "l33t d00ds". The exit is --------------> Don't let the door hit you where the good lord done split you on the way out. |

.5 seconds is more than enough time to get this spell off. As a matter of fact I don't even use this as my first spell in a PVP. You need to place some distance between you and your opponent. Figure out how to do that, then you'll have less problems, cept for resists

You're doing something wrong. Try changing up your strategies...if you're basing your entire pvp career off of one spell, you're doing something wrong. Very wrong.

![]() Look, it's bad enough they try and balance all the classes so they can be the same solo (as it breaks group dynamics and makes game boring), but if they now have to make us all exactly equal in PvP, as well as solo'ing, as well as groups etc then it's just going to get silly. I don't give a tosas if I get beat in PvP, I just want a character that is wanted in groups, can play the game enjoyable and contribute. Saying you are going to cancel because of this is just being childish. I'm no fanboi (read my posts if you want), but if we start whining over PvP issues then they really are going to start just thinking we are a bunch of petulant, frock wearing wussies. |

![]() The very worst thing that Sony could do is to try to "balance" the classes in an RPG for PVP purposes. That's exactly what Blizzard has been trying to do over on WoW for the past year, and that game has now become more or less homogenized and ruined. If you think Wizards (or any other classes) have it bad over here, then go try playing a Mage over there. It's ten times worse than you can imagine. Stuff like this is why I finally quit WoW and returned to EQ a few weeks ago. So far, I don't regret that choice at all, regardless of what I left behind. Oh and incidentally, I played on a PVP realm. I finally got it through my head that hardcore PVP'ing just doesn't mix with classic RPG archetypes. The classes are far too different from one another to ever be "balanced" for PVP. Any team of devs that tries to achieve this mythical "class balance' will ultimately ruin their own game in the process. It's just not worth it to even bother. I'd rather that we each had powerful and unique abilities that were best employed together - as a team, with the strengths of each class augmenting those of the others. Yes, that's just my 2cp - but it took me a long time to finally come to this conclusion. Anyway, at only level 27, I'm nuking for upwards of almost 900 dmg per DD nuke and 2-shotting normal mobs my own level. I'm sure I'll learn more as I level and advance, but right now this little EQ returnee has been pleasantly surprised at just how powerful Wizards have become in the new EQ. In short - I'll settle. :smileywink:
