I've pretty much soloed my Wiz up thru 22 by rooting single mobs and blasting away, although root breaks a lot I've been relatively successful.  I took a break from the game and started playing again around the time of the 9/13 patch, but focused on my Conjurer. With his pet, multiple mobs are no problem. I discovered Splitpaw, and did harclaves, the Arena on normal and difficult, and Flitch's Prank easily.

So I decided to let him build up his Vit for double XP (Levelingis so tedious without it) and get back to my Wiz, who has a good chunk of Vit built up. Went out and soloed some singles to refamiliarize myself with the class, and the changes made, so far no prob. Decided to do the Splitpaw thing since the XP is so good and it's fun.

Big problems. I can't even do the quest that allows you to enter the den/upper tunnels. I can handle 2-3 mobs by rooting/AoEing and just blasting the crap out the mobs, but any more and I am toast. And if they are higher than blue, forget it. I root one, the others are on me, and my spells get interrupted and I am dead quickly.

My gear is ok but not great, have 3 items of my AQ done. I don't have a lot of adept spells, but a few . One thing I am finding in the past month with ALL my toons is the lack of adepts being sold...same thing with app 4's, they are hard to find, and too expensive at 5 gold.  IMO I SHOULD be doing better tho, as I said single and double mobs are not much problem

I guess what I am asking is for strategy tips to do all the Splitpaw solo stuff, I am likely not taking full advantage of my capabilities

Did you ever make it to Splitpaw? You may need a friend for getting the key to the Splitpaw upper tunnels.

The arena is fairly easy though. When you come to the Splitpaw Duo, just root one and start backing up. Switch targets to the other gnoll and cast Freeze/Blazing Intimidation to stun him. Then cast root on him and backup. Then just lay on the heavy nukes (avoid DoTs and AoEs), if root breaks or is about to break re-root. If you notice the timer on the first root on the first gnoll is almost up just re-root him.

The Splitpaw Trio is fairly simple too. At 24th you can pickup Ball of Fire Master 2, which is an extremely heavy hitter. Root the Dwarf when the Trio comes out and then toss Ball of Fire Master 2 at the gnome (AHHHH). Then toss Benumb (or whatever Stifling spell you have on her, so she doesn't heal) and then hit her with Plasmatic Strike. If she isn't dead by then, hit her with whatever you have and she should fall quickly. Then take out the Dark Elf with the same strategy while still making sure that the dwarf stays rooted. Whenever the two casters are down, just take out the dwarf using the same strategy as the Splitpaw Duo (root, nuke, avoid DoTs)

The Splitpaw Champion is a pushover now, even on difficult. Just use the above strategy. Cast root when he comes out, wait a few seconds for root's recast timer to popup, then cast ball of fire. If root broke, cast stun and then re-cast root. Wait a few for roots recast timer to come up and repeat. Toss stifles on him if he's the caster version (I believe there are two versions: a caster and a warrior version --- although I may be wrong)

Harclave there isn't really much to say. I just sneak all the way to the ark, and then let loose my Freezing Winds and whatever the upgrade to Lightning Flash is. I play Harclave on difficult now, but I don't think it would have been possible before I got Freezing Winds Master 2. On difficult, most of the mobs are orange to me, and the orange heroics that are double-ups resist a lot!

Things in harclave become much easier when you get Freezing Winds (and much more easier if you choose Freezing Winds Master 2 at 34th).

By the way, did you choose Conflag Master 2 at 14th?

Yes I did choose conflag master, one of my most potent spells.

No, I have not made it thru the first instance to get the chest/key that allows access to the Sundered Splitpaw. Multiple mobs there, but if I can't handle those, I will certainly not be able to handle the ones in Sundered Splitpaw

I did decending with my level 22/3 wizard and found it easy, it requires very different tactics from soloing individual mobs, all my spells are app4 or adept 1 (except the training ones) but my gear is only average. I pull with the BIG aoe dot (chilling wind?) making sure that I am targeting the furthest away opponent so they are all in range, i then launch my small aoe dot (something lightning) and then PBaoe blast (conflagration?) and finally stick a coldshield on myself. After all this is any are still alive i nuke them with plasma. Give it a try and see how you get on.
