Is the wizard quest possible to solo as soon as you get it?

Do the Gnolls you have to kill come in big groups or are they solo? and also are the elementals in the tower too tough at level 18?

Most of the spells I currently use are at adept 1, Blaze, Ice spike, Freeze. and I also have the rather handy Gnoll master's strike.

And all my other spells are not below App 3.

Yes you can do it when you get it. Everything is soloable.

The actual test is really easy, but killing the gnolls may be a little tricky, I'd recomend bringing a friend or two along.

yeah if you have a friend healer bring him just walk through that valley to the right of BB and they will spawn on top of you as you pass this one certain spot ... but at 18 the chanters were yellow and if you aren't prepared can kill you quickly but if you are prepared even alone you can do it it just gets pretty hairy as their are 2 mobs and if you get a few resists their could be trouble ... but with a healer you will kill them with ease

Oh and on a side note they will always from this point foward spawn on you as you walk through that area SMILEY kind of annoying walking through there at 24 and having 2 grey mobs spawn on you and attack immediately but not too big of a deal just make sure you aren't sprinting through there and low on power as a result cuz that could make it turn bad edit: well not bad just more annoying

You'll love the final test, was the best thing in game for me so far. Soloed the whole time, hardest part is to loot the items off the gnolls. Had to kill about 50 all in all I think.

Not to distract, but what does disabling XP have to do with grey? I thought it simply kept you from getting the XP reward in a group, is their another benefit?

I did the quest at lvl 20, and I was able to solo it. The hardest part was the gnolls, which most of the time were blue, but sometimes white to me; and even that part was pretty easy. And they come in a mob of two gnolls. If you go to the islands right by Sir Jeagers Camp, when you walk across the fallen trees to go to the joined islands, the gnoll mobs will come out then. Or like a previous post stated, if you walk between the valley before you hit BB, they pop out there, too. The easiest part of the wizard quest was the final trial where you battle the elementals. Not sure what color the gnolls are to you at lvl 18, though. If you can solo two yellows, then that's fine. Otherwise, I suggest bringing along a friend.

Be wary though.  I'm a pretty proficient player, not the most skilled in the world but proficient.  The chanters were, by far, the hardest to solo.  Basically they'd stun me, nuke me down and outright kill me.  I thought maybe this was a stroke of bad luck on my first chanter encounter so I tried it again solo.  Same thing happened.  Mind you, this was at level 18.  Maybe I would've had better luck at 19 with them.  But I decided to just get a rogue friend to help put some damage out while I was stunned/mezzed and that worked perfectly.

I suppose a strategy for chanters would be to try to get a root to stick and back off as fast as possible leaving the rooted one far behind.  Then hope that you can nuke that unrooted one down before he decides to throw a stun on you.

Hey guys, here's a little awesome thing...
remember this useless spell you got? tonguetwist? well, it'll save your life. tonguetwist prevents the chanters from casting ANY spells for a few seconds. and they're pretty useless with melee attacks. SO, what I did, is rooted one, twisted the other, nuked him to death (with adept I blaze and ice spike it was pretty fast), then I twisted the other, gnolled master striked and blazed him, and walked away, with not even a scratch on my pretty gnomish face!

My tongue twist is still only app1 hehe.  Useful spell, yes but not with a 30 second recast timer and it lasts maybe 4 seconds hehe.  Maybe app3 is MUCH better.  I still haven't found an app3 of it yet though.  I use it in groups in Stormhold mostly with those caster blobs.  Just to keep them from aeing every [Removed for Content] chance they get.  And I throw in a freeze here and there to keep them stunned.

Solo with chanters though, by the time I'd cast my next spell tongue twist has either expired or nearly expired.  Then I just get stunned and nuked down again hehe.

I think your problem with those specific chanters, Zabumtik, is that you're not quick enough. I use both stun (freeze) and rooting (frozen manacles) to keep the other chanter in place, while the other one is twisted. that way, both of them can't attack me. if the other one start to cast on me, it's ok, he will still be rooted, since it lasts longer then the stun, and I'll stun him again. anyway, choose your tactics. you can choose to use your gnoll master attack on either the first or the second. No time for any fancy HOs here :smileyhappy:. the point here, is don't let any of them any time to mezz you. you have 2 skills to do that, tongue twist and freeze. use them wisely. :robotvery-happy:

ummm did they change this quest?  I got the stuff from the gnoll chanters, etc and went back to the quest-giver at the mage tower and she sent me into the "testing room"  and there stands this massive creature that cons red (2 groups) with three arrows up.  What the heck, do I have to find a dozen people to help me with this? two dozen?  I thought I would have heard about it by now if you had to arrange a raid to finish your lvl 20 class quest...

Hi Tanulan

No you can do this solo, go into each of the three portals first and fight the elementals. Then go back to the main room and you'll find he's quite beatable now :smileyhappy:

Good luck
