![]() On gear for a lvl 58 Pally, I'm currently in a mix of prenerf cobalt/prenerf ebon (just never got around to replacing the ebon), but I know I need to be seriously looking for gear at this point. Ability to raid is next to nil, so it would have to be stuff that could be gotten with a single group (only 7 active members in my guild and pick up raids are not really an option for me due to IRL). In short, I need a complete make over and I have no clue where to start

![]() At lvl 58, I assume you are trying to gear up for T7 stuff. if I were you, I'd probably look into some Xegonite Devout armor (player mastercrafted) and/or Scalelord armor from PoA. A few other pieces can be obtained from various instanced zones, like the Cuirass of Protection, light and dark chitin rings, etc. The Qeynos claymore quest lines can net you some decent gear along the way, also. Unfortunately most of that is going to be somewhat 'starter gear' for T7, as you'll probably want to get hold of other things later, like the Kyle Bayle's Dogmatic armor in EoF zones, or fables pieces from raids. ~Hawke |

Well, the devout isn't too much of a problem as I've got a 65 armorer as well so I can make a good bit of it myself, though out of curiousity, why devout? Wouldn't vanguard be better for tanking? or is the devout to take the sting out of our defensive stance with the int loss?

![]() I just found that the devout stuff was better for me overall than the vanguard. The int definitely helped, and the difference in taking hits from vanguard wasn't even noticable for me. Again, it will end up as starter gear for the tier, so whatever you feel is a better fit for you and your playstyle while you await better pieces. ~Hawke |

![]() Thanks for the info. I'm not the fastest leveler out there (been working on this fella since February) but I'm well into unchartered terrority for me I know I need to get a new shield pretty much ASAP, a lvl 40 HQ item is only good for so long

![]() Hard part is that you're level 58. You really don't want to work on getting GREAT stuff until you're around 70, since the instances you need to get stuff out of them will need you to be around 70. But, I agree that for starters, you should get Xegonite. I had Vanguard, and had no problems, but if you want to go with devout, w/e, it's just a choice of stats since your mit won't be affected, but your avoidance will be lower with devout than with vanguard. You could even do pieces of one w/ pieces of another, but again, it's all stat crap, and you're not going to want to keep Xego long past 70 anyways, so it's just "twink" gear. Now onto the meat since I already bored myself... Helm - Quested Hoo'Loh hat from Hoo'Loh in Barren Sky, wearable at level 67. Chest - Cuirass of Protection, dropped from final named mob in BSS. Shoulder - Vsomethingorother, dropped from the frankenstein named in HoF. Boots - Dark Magestic Boots, dropped from Sothis in HoF. Boots - Kyle Bayle's Dogmatic Boots, Legendary Class Boots, dropped from last named mob in Obelisk of Blight. Bracers - Kyle Bayle's Dogmatic Manacles, Legendary Class Bracers, dropped from the last named mob in Crypt of Valdoon. Pants - Legplates of the Bloodhowler, dropped from a named mob in Crypt of Valdoon. (these are ugle as all hell) Gloves - Gauntlets of Glorious Speed, dropped from named mob in MOA2. (bad thing, you have to actually have someone in the group that needs MOA2 or you're not getting in, so you can't really farm for these). Cloak - Clandestine Dragon's Breath Adventure's Cloak, Rare T7 cloak. Cloak - Mith Marr's diety cloak of uberness (I went with Brell, so I don't get this cloak, but I do get the worse cloak in the game) Shield - Grizzfangle's Shield, quested from a dude in Bonemire. Best shield in the game that's not a raid drop, period. Ring - Light Chitin Ring, Dark Chitin Ring, dropped from last named mob in Den. All this stuff can be gotten without a raid, and definitely isn't an all inclusive list. The Claymore quest line is a HUGE pain in the [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn], but it gives really nice items, so I'd recommend working on that when you start going into SoS. It really doesn't give good items until POA, but if you work on the claymore stuff once you hit SoS, and keep working on them all the way through SoS, there's nice armor pieces for a non-70 toon from those quests too.

![]() I just picked up the chest piece from the last mob in Valdoon as well, it has more raw mit than the CoP, but no +vs c/p/s so it ends up giving slightly less overall mit. But it does have +100ish power and health (somewhere in that range) and +24 STR / STA / WIS. I have been using it now while grouping and am finding that the additional hp and power seem to make it more wothwhile than the CoP, I'll get to play around more over time and see. I found that the Murar'Shar greaves and Dragonscale Pauldrons from the claymore are some really nice pieces. I have not yet found anything better than those. I even have the Mantle of the Vindicator (fabled paly class shoulders) and choose the Dragonscale from the claymore line whenever I am tanking (which I think is TOTAL BS because they should at least be better than the quested legendary from claymore... item progression FTW!)

I agree with the displeasure in the quested legendary being better than the relic... and they're also better than the fabled vindicator arms as well. If you're looking for better pants than Murar'Shar's Glorious Greaves, the only ones I've gotten are the relic pants (though I've heard the Tarinax ones are better - I just haven't seen them drop). ~Hawke |

![]() There are a bunch of zones that have some good pickup gear for you. Scormfeather roost drops nice wrists, rings, helmet, and a shield for yourself. Poets Palace drops nice gloves, shield, and a head piece for you. Cazels Mesa drops a nice set of legs, forarms, and a nice weapon you can use. These are all zones you can hit daily if you want and don't take that very long to do. You can also get a nice set of shoulders from the Ancient tables instance as well. Unlike the other posters....these are zones you can hit NOW and get the gear NOW. I would focus on EoF zones once you hit 64ish since there is much better gear that will drop there for you of legendary quality then are currently found in KoS. ![]() Oh my... where to begin... I guess all you hardcory EQ2 experts understand this. I am a lv 54 Pally, SLOW leveller, so I dont need any lv 60+ gear for some time. I still wear boring same old blue/black cobalt for 1 year now and to be honest, all those abbreviations and names of mobs say nothing to me. Can someone maybe add some more clear hints about a) what place and mobs or quests give gear and b) for what level. Sorry, but I cant make head or tails of all these abbreviations. (I never liked them so much just as a sidenote; several times I find people who say "lets meet in BB" and one half of the group stands in Butcherblock the other in Blackburrow @__@ ) Any advise would make me grateful.

Roost - Lvl 56 to 58 mobs Poets - Lvl 60 to 65 mobs Cazels - Lvl 59 to 64 mobs Ancients table lvl 59 - 63 mobs... Its laziness if you can't figure this stuff out for yourself sometimes don't expect everyone to hold your hand. |

Level 58: Cobalt, work on claymore quest and get treasured T7 armor drops in sanctum. There should be good, cheap treasured armor on the broker for low 60's unless transmuting has destroyed the market for everything. The xegonite armor barely beats common drops, but it is a good starting place if you can get it quickly and easily. Pre-nerf, the "empowered scaleguard" leggings and bixie sword were very good items which require level 58. I don't know about now.Poets is good for level appropriate enemies and equipment, but be aware that anything you get in poets other than 57-60 masters will be outdated quickly, and Cazel will kick your [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn].I don't know anything about EoF at your level, but I think the dungeon on top of crushbone is 60ish, and you should be able to hit the left side of kaladim in the near future.

![]() Heya just thought id weigh in on some thoughts- I dont know tons about EoF, ive been grinding my guardian to take over the mt role. But let us not forget PoA. You can get pretty good stuff my killin the dragons in poa. They are the scalelord items and have decent stats and mitigation is just below what can be had in raids. I would farm those places for that gear. AS far as claymore goes, there are some super nice pieces I think every tank should have- the dragonscale sash is one of them. Sadly though, none of the items are adornable so the dragonscale pauldrons, while cool, are pretty much worthless imho- Sure the mitigation is nice but find yourself some nice t6 fabled spaulders or scalelord stuff and add the +400 hp adornment to them and have at it. Remember that with EoF mitigation is not as big a deal anymore, once you hit like 4000-4500 it might be worth the while to increase your other stats to get better avoidance and strength in combat arts through wis and int. oh dont forget Mark of awakening quest line. have fun though remember that Statik 70 Paladin Jakub 57 Guardian
