Armor at level 30?

Level 30 is approaching fast and I was wondering what armor should I be looking for?  I have about 1.2 plat in the bank that I intended to put toward a Tier 2 horse.  Should I invest it in feysteel instead?  Or should I just get feyiron, silvril, or orc marauder and continue saving for a horse? 

 

By the way, I'm a very casual gamer who solos 99% of the time.  I'm thinking that a horse would decrease my travel time and help make the most of my online time.  However, if a feysteel suit would make my solo effectiveness noticeably better than feyiron, etc., then I'd rather get the armor now and save for a horse later.   Thanks!

feysteel will make you solo more effectively. i have a 32 paladin with a full set. i can solo any green groupx2 encounter i have found. and ive managed to kite a yellow and white group encounter because even when they'd catch me they couldnt kill me fast

Horse is mostly a luxury item...once in a while you may use it to outrun a mob, but I'd place it further down the line. The best armor I know of in the 30s is feysteel.  If you decide to pop for feysteel, by all means spend the extra gold to have it imbued--BP, Legs, 2hander.  If you're just doing the typical experience group, you may not notice the difference, but as a primarily solo Pally, top end equipment will give that edge to pull out the really tough fights--high green heroic named, high orange/low red (very dangerous) solo mobs.  Those fights where you have just a sliver of life when the mob drops.  The proc on the BP is a small heal over time--random, but still, any mana-free heal is a good thing.  The pants proc is a small direct damage, less than you get from an imbued weapon, but every little bit helps.  After you cover the basics--BP, Legs, 2hander,  you might want to save some coin an go with the cheaper silvril for your other slots.  Stats are close to feysteel, it can;t be imbued anyway, and is much cheaper, so you'll still have a bit of coin in the bank.
