Never wanting to be remembered as that "nerfed" or "gimped" or "just plain crappy paladin we partied with the other night", I followed the Paladin guide here in the forums to a "T". By the time i reached lvl 14, I had finished all but 2 of the quests listed (Tinker Spindlecog - cause its a lvl 20 quest, and Geologist Fribben - cause thats in Blackburrow), and was pretty well equipped. With seemingly nothing to do, I grouped with a sorcerer and proceeded to gain a couple levels fairly quickly. Now, at 16, I'm not quite sure what to do. A few pieces of the equipment I gathered are starting to con blue/green, and I can't seem to find any quests for better equipment. Am I supposed to grind out more money and buy a bunch of armor from some npc armorsmiths (and if so, which one has the best armor, or do they all carry the same stuff)? And when/if I do that, am I supposed to take my shiny new armor and just level to 19 (and then unlock Paladin)? At 20, I'm going to upgrade my armor (because after getting Paladin, I can wear heavy armor now, right?), and do the stuff mentioned in the "Getting 20 to 24 without even trying, and get some awesome upgrades to boot!" topic here in the forums. It says to upgrade to full carbonite armor (where can I get some of that? And it sounds expensive...), and thats why I'm weary of dropping a lot of coin on armor now, cause with a decent group or two, I should hit 20 in no more than 2 days, possibly 1 with the amount of playtime I put in.So, what do I do now? Exactly what I asked above? Or is there something else I'm supposed to do?ALSO -Where can I get a good sword (besides Ghoulbane. I already started the "Dusty Blue Stone" quest, but it seems pretty hard, and I'm pretty sure its NOT solo-able, or at least not until im 20+ [I think i have to mine some stuff from Thundering Steppes, and I have to kill defiled squires, knights, and a bunch of other stuff just to GET access to the Tomb of Valor, and I have to kill Ghouls and defiled sentries and stuff as part of the quest])? Or can I do most of this quest before 20? I was gonna to ask something else, but its early in the morning and I can't remember... I'll have to add it later...thanks

![]() My advice is to not worry about gear so much right now, get to 20 and do your armor quests. Also, forget about Ghoulbane for a long while, you can't even use the weakened form until level 32. Just go do quests or help people with thier quests and hope for drops to use or sell, concentrate on learning what your class can do you have plenty of time for gear.

man, I put all that time and effort into that post, and got one reply. >< no worries though, everything turned out ok, as I got invited into a group when I was lvl 16 and just mining in Antonica (was doing it to build skill for Ghoulbane quest, but i cannot even use it until 30+, I can definately wait), and I leveled to 18+. just gotta finish a few quests and level a little more, and then do my pal quest and whatnot, and soon i'll be a Paladin.I was stressing about having the right equipment and whatnot because the only other MMOs I've played are FFXI and SWG. I was a 60 Pal in FFXI, and if you did not always have the best possible equipment, you were absolutely gimped. I ALWAYS made sure I had the best equipment, so it wasn't a problem, but people don't seem to be nearly as "[Removed for Content]" about it in this game (not that my equipment is lacking, its all nice quested stuff, and the pieces that aren't conning yellow or better are only 2-3 ac below any 'better' pieces available right now).and as for getting a sword, I got the Dwarven Sword of Cleansing, but it needs 120 skill to use, so I'm not sure how soon I can equip it.

You can get to Lvl 20 in no time.Kill the scarecrows at NQ tower til they are grey. From the moment you can solo them, do them solo. Then start killing scarecrows at steppes station, there's always a group killing them, just ask an invite.Just see it that you all are about the same level, not more then 3 levels in difference. At Lvl 19 you can do your subclass quest, but you can grind XP up and til 214%.Then I did my subclass quest and became lvl 22 Paladin at once.If you do the subclass first, the scarecrows won't give as much XP anymore when you are lvl 20 or 21, so I figured I would gain easier XP by grinding it to 214% first

First thing to do is re-check your dwarven sword of cleansing, mine is 95-125 which translates to levels 19 to 25. If it doesn't work for you then there are a number of options:
Hope this helps

Where is this Zerak located in Vermins Snye? I can't find any info on a named bloodritualist "Zerak" or even an item called "Soulreaver on the web. I've been a numerious times in Vermins Snye, but AFAIK, there's only 2 named ones: Amayia the Rat Queen and Xoit'l The Bloodsaber Fanatic in Vermins Snye. How do I find/spawn this Zerak?

My advice would be to live the game by yourself, taking the Web guides as help/tips and not as a walkthrough. You'll enjoy it much more that way.

He is a slighty rarer spawn on bloodsabers than X'Loitl, just kill all the bloodsabers in both the square rooms they spawn in, I have managed to get him to pop quite regularly, but it is of course random. You will need a group for him, even into the 20's as he is a nasty piece of work. Lika the tortured is another named, hangs about in corridors off to the right of the first bloodsaber room, There are other nameds too, a named cube and a named zombie. If you want to know more about soulreaver check the EQ2players site, heck check out my profile, i am wielding it. |

![]() I was just going by the 120 skill from the OP, maybe he has the skill number wrong. No matter what skill of 120 is level 24.

![]() Also, when you complete your Paladin class quest you will receive Delacar's Sword of Honor. It's 2 handed, but I use it mainly for soloing or in groups where I am not the main tank. For one handed use, I purchased a 1handed hammer (i think it is). It's blue now and doesn't do a lot of damage. But if I am going one handed, that means I am tanking and DPS doesn't matter. As long as I have a nice shield equipped and can continually taunt! ![]()

I may have been wrong, as it turns out, I was able to equip the Dwarven sword at 19 (and it is a very nice sword). lisasdarren, I'll check out fallen gate for that hammer, as my celestial watch hammer is getting old. It'll probably be a while before I attempt to get the soul reaver, because Named Monsters in this game seem to whoop on me BAD. There's nothing like gettin whooped by a lvl 10 fairy king when you're level 13, a lvl 11 unicorn that cons green when you're lvl 16, lvl 11 faeries when you're duing with another lvl 16 player, being the only 19 with 11 other 20+ getting murdered by the Windstalker Rumbler, .... I could go on and on. that seems to be my only complaint about this game so far. NMs seem to be WAY WAY WAY too hard, and drop almost worthless items. By the time i teamed up with 2 other 16s to kill them faerie ambassadors in Oakmyst, all we got is some junk that a lvl 10 player probably doesnt need. >< Which makes me wonder, in the "Getting 20-24...." thread, if it is at all feasible to solo Watch Captain Gylar AND his goons for the boots he mentions. Does becoming a subclass make that much of a difference in the game? I entered stormhold at lvl 18 just to check it out, and see if maybe i could get my last couple levels soloing low level skeletons (and maybe get the sword of thunder drop, there are reports that its dropped off of some of the weaker mobs)... I was UTTERLY DESTROYED by the first little lvl 15 slime ten feet inside SH. Am I actually gonna be able to solo 20-24 in there, let alone try to get the sword of thunder and the boots and other stuff mentioned in that post (stuff I really really want to get, btw. not so much the boots, cause I have a really nice pair of heavy armor ones sittin in my bank that I quested from a really hard quest. but i do want the sword and the shield)? and Thetraveller, I only used the guides to make sure I was well equipped, more for my groups sake then my own. like I said, I came into this game with the FFXI metality - if you're not perfectly equipped, you're gimped. I'm enjoying everything about this game more than FFXI (don't get me wrong, I enjoyed FFXI quite a bit, and I hear that your first MMO is often the defining one. try to imagine how much I'm enjoying this game.). I've actually found myself straying A LOT and exploring and doing various things. with the amount of playtime I put in, it shouldn't have taken me a little over a week to get to 20 lol.

I feel your pain. I am level 23 and was playing around in SH the other day finishing up a few quests. The slimes you mention, which are grey to me weren't exactly a walk in the park. You *can* solo around 20-24 in here, but you won't get a lot done. Add one or two friends and you should do just fine. Add more for some of the deeper areas. And do not go near any of the Scions by yourself.

So long as you buy a full suit of heavy armour and if you can afford it tier 3 jewellery then you will be able to solo anything that is not a caster and is under level 20 as soon as you hit level 20, and some casters if they are green to you. Heavy armour makes a huge difference, well it did to me anyhow |

Well, I went in at 20, and there's like 3 mobs I can kill. >< Being a 20 Paladin as opposed to a 19 crusader makes a huge difference, though. I cant go left to the chessboard room, cause there are slimes that will aggro in the way. I made it as far as captain Hess' room (he was up, but I couldn't find a couple people to help me kill him ><

At 20 you can wear forged carbonite vanguard - a useful tip for trying to get an ultra cheap breast plate and legs is look at eq2.strobe.org for armorers on your server - cheak how many are in the 25-28 level range - these are the "hell" levels for tier 3 armorers most of them are burning through plate breastplates desperately trying to level. Its worth sending one of them a tell and ask if they can make a breastplate and legs for you cheap.

Vigilance Soulflare, I'm on Antonia Bayle Server. Khurghan, Ironicaly, the armor I bought is mostly forged carbonite (including breastplate and leggings). I'm thinking about upgrading to Pristine forged Carbonite, but im not sure how often I should be dropping coin on armor. check out my new post, if anyone has any advice. Also, lisasdarren, what do I have to kill in Fallen gate to get that drop? And, does anyone know where I can find info on how to get Starfall? I just dropped 40 silver on a hammer, but its an ugly wooden club lookin thing. really, really good, though.

I've killed Zerak the Bloodsaber Ritualist thrice but he never drops any weapons. Is it a random drop too?
