Had a bad time last night in the Thundering Steppes and decided it was time to bug out.  However, I was mounted while in combat and for some reason I couldn't flee in the direction I wanted to.  No matter which direction I tried to run, I was essentially circling around the selected enemy and was not getting anywhere.  Full reverse seemed to be the only direction I could flee with any success (mind you, I was in a wide open area so I was not limited by geography).  Of course, while fleeing in full reverse I pulled more aggro and things didn't turn out so well...  SMILEY

So does anyone have any suggestions or observations of what I did wrong?  I know I could cancel the Holy Steed spell and then flee on foot as one alternative but I was worried that all that maneuvering would just get me killed anyway.  Any help would be appreciated!

I've noticed that from time to time.  Usually clears it up if you hit escape to untarget the mob while you're running.  Or you can turn off the option to enable combat autoface under Options:Controls:ViewOptions ingame.

Also Yelling will disengage you allowing you to run where you want and increasing your mana and health regen.

I mean if your running anyways you might as well just yell so you can regen faster.

Thank you for the responses.  I have a feeling I'll have my opportunities to try these solutions.  SMILEY

This is actually a deselectable option in your game settings. I can't remember the section it's in off the top of my head, but you'll see a check box with the description (something like) "Turns you to face the enemy when in attack mode." If you untick that box, you can turn and run without being spun around to face the mob again. (Note: If you untick it, you'll no longer circle the mob, BUT you may have to manually turn to face the mob in battle in future, otherwise you'll keep getting "You are not facing the target" spammed at you.)

Turn off attack or yell will solve this.

There is an option setting...something like..."always face the enemy"....turn that off. Also like others said, use Yell to break the combat and run.
