Dear Devs,

In an upcoming expansion or update it would be really nice if you scaled up at least the appearance of the crusader mount with level.  A level 70 SK should not have a plain black horse.  Perhaps making it look a little spiffier every 10 or 12 levels would be nice.  I am not talking about making it any faster, just cooler looking.

Since noone really uses the fluff horse much, and surely not at level 70 anymore, I doubt they are going to upgrade the looks. I mean it doesn't have stats and we can even run faster.Nightmare looks pretty nice with SK.

Easy for you to say.  with armor and spells I cannot save for a horse so I use the fluff horse still.  Granted, I will finish the carpet quest soon and then will not anymore, but that is perhaps another issue.  Make the horse at 50 as fast as the carpet.  Hate the look of the carpet.

It's a fluff spell. It's not ment to be viable use of travel. They used to have better speed to them (even if still nothing great) but were streamlined to fit the uselessness of the fluff spells the other classes get.EDIT: Wait... exactly how is it easy for me to say? I have worked hard for every single spell, piece of armour and horse I have had. So please elaborate.

Can't you solo the carpet quest in your sleep at 70? I haven't tried so I'm just guessing, and I remember him hitting hard, but that was 20 levels ago.

Personally I agree the Nightmare steed is perfect, but I'm holding out to see the new steeds with EoF (that and my guild is only level 28 as we only have 5 or 6 active members so I don't have many options but to hold out).

Sorry but where is the problem to get a better horse with 70 ?  A horse with 32% speed is just 2p i think, thats max 1-2 hours farming as a 70 SK. Or simply use spirit totems of the wolf, they have at least 24%. Ahh .. btw .. there is also a nice looking black horse i think that only has 24% .. but price should be around 1p maybe.

Ahh .. and i would always prefer a 32% horse over the ugly carpets SMILEY

Yeps. I used the black parade horse till I needed the cash for couple of master spells. Then I *gasp* ran on foot using totems till we hit guild level 40.With a bit of status points (52k or 80k) and about 1-3pp depending on the horse you can get a nice enough one.

That's right, quested used to be 25% but they upped it to 40.A lot of people going on about speed here though when the original poster was only asking if it was possible to upgrade the looks of the fluff horse. I am in a level 50 guild so am lucky enough to have a nightmare horse for my necro, but there are still a lot of sub 40 guilds so nightmare horses are still not as common as the ghostly horse at 30. I see no problem with a slight upgrade to the look of the fluff horse myself and so agree with the original poster, red eyes on a black horse doesn't really cut it anymore.

I seriously believe that the nightmare horse model should have been put aside exclusively for our class.

Id love to see some sort of AA option like eq1 to have our own unique "unholy steed"

Oh and while they are at it, fix the horrible mount mechanics in this game, especially the combat

Well with keeping with tradition I do believe we will get one at a later point, more than likely in the third set of AA's similar to EQ1.  Of course that will be some time from now but I think it will be there eventually.

First, no disrespect Littleflame, its just you mentioned so casually buying a horse as if it was nothing to you so it did not sound like a big financial burden is all.  I was not implying anything more than that.  I just cannot bring myself to spend the plat on a horse, guild level 40 notwithstanding.  Second, I suppose I am harking back a bit to EQ1 and my free horse.  Heck, we get jobbed in so many other ways and it is not like half the other classes in the game do not have a travel spell why can't the two "knight" classes have a respectable horse that is somewhat less effective than SoW and, with level, scales to LOOK like an SK or Pally horse should look.

I am a knight, not a footman.

To be terribly frank, if you want a horse befitting a shadowknight, act like a shadowknight. Win epic battles in Lucan's name, master a craft, or generally pillage the land for the resources to acquire one. Freeport provides you with a lame mount for being a lame example of their dark crusader. Becoming the pinnacle of your class over a long journey of developing the character is when you earn the right to ride an impressive looking horse.

A plain black horse with red eyes is good enough for a mediocre shadowknight, if they want a fire spewing abyssal mount... well that just takes more work than pressing the SK icon at char creation and soloing owlbears.

I agree w/the OP... the original SK fluff horse looked quite nice, if I recall correctly, it matched the graphic of one of the 9p horses. Then one day, we had this new, ugly horse which is supposed to look fierce and somewhat fiery, looks like it has the mange and pink eye.

Paladins still get a nice-looking horse as their fluff horse (same model as one of the purchaseable horses). I think perhaps it's about time to ask why paladins are getting a better-looking horse than we've got? Yet another example of evils getting the uglier model of  things. Just because we're evil doesn't mean we don't appreciate beauty, g'ramit. Maybe instead of upgrading our horse - c'mon, where else are you going to get a 14sp horse, even as mangy and flea-bitten looking as it is - they out to downgrade the paladin fluff horse so it's equally ugly!

I disagree w/ OP.  If you want a nice mount then earn it.  Personally, I'm still waiting for a bad [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] mount in excess of 100P, guild lvl 60 & 1,000,000+ status.

Hey, thanks for the totally unwarranted nasty attack post.  In reply, this is a game which I play for fun in the small amount of time that I consider worth devoting to it apart from real life.  I already have a job.  If the game becomes too much like work to be enjoyable then I will go do something else with what free time I have.  Alas, I cannot quest to kill the imaginary beasties for the glory of a fictional warlord for as many hours a week as you think are appropriate to be other than a "lame example" of a shadow knight.  Perhaps we should have a 20 hour quest to learn how to use each new weapon in combat?  I mean, why should you just be able to pick up a mace for the first time and understand inately how to use it.  Simple fact is, while we all hope that there is no need to get as close to the lowest common denominator as WoW does, there is rather ample evidence that is a poor business plan to hew too close to the hardcore crowd.

So, to my original point, it would be more fun if crusaders had a proper crusader mount and it would not unbalance the game considering the number of classes that already get a reasonable travel spell.  If you want to make it an AA fine.  They did that in EQ1 and the world did not end.

(and if that is not good enough for you, Paladins who worship Mithaniel Marr will get a horse that is a 55% speed boost at a fairly low level - Glorious Steed - and I will wager it does not look like an old nag)
