I do not know if this subject has been already debated, I didn't have time to check, anyway, we get a mount early, but 10% speed encrease, come on! What's the use of the mount if it is so slow, I love the mount look, dark horse, fits Shadowknights perfectly, but I wish we coud upgrade it, a quest perhaps or something, it is just so lame to have the slowest mount in the game.

My thing is this...

I heard not 100% sure that the reason or mount got nerf down is because we got a free one.

I would like to know if Paladins got the same speed nerf to there mounts since they also recieve a free mount.

It is still faster than walking, and better than anyone other than Scouts and Shamans until they can cough up a platinum for a horse. It is an entertainment spell after all, and I believe the only one with an actual use.

Yup, it's a fluff spell. Compared to the other classes fluff spells, this is the most usable of them all. It certainly beats the later fluff spells. A squire and a glowing hand. Neither has ANY effect at all. So no need to complain.

The horse is not the only useful fluff ... just the only one useful by design.  I can still transfer aggro to my assassin's fluff pet.  I can still use my squire to bump up my parry.  I'll bet there are more of these "exploits" with the other classes as well.  *edited to note that the assassin aggro transfer is nerfed*

Its been brought up numerous times. So I doubt sony isnt aware of this. Ok, yeah I know thats a real naive statement considering their track record.

But yeah, lets make this rule #1 of the SK board. "No one is permitted to talk about our fluff spells" :smileytongue:

The Crusader spell mounts were nerfed early on because they not only increased run speed but also added combat haste.  Forget which update it was but you can look it up in the Forum that has all the Live Updates they have done stickied.

Not entirely true. They nerfed it because all the other classes whined that it was unfair crusaders fluff spell had some use. A good tread to look up is "Shadowknights and Paladins havesting elites" *Rolls eyes* Sony at first said they would not change it because looking at the entire picture it was a small benefit and not game breaking.

They then went back on their word

its just a horse what the heck is the big deal... i got one for ya though...

When Vanguard Saga of Hero's comes out.. Mounts are free.. thats right free and they are a major part of lvl so you tell me.

Whats the big deal about having a horse when at lvl 50+ you can do a quest to get a carpet FREE.

Just that most people that play MMrpg are winny little brats that think because they pay money that its suppose to be the way they want the game to be.  When the truth of the matter is ... you paying to play There Game.

People always think the grass is greener on the other side...

Reality is a Mother @#$%er aint it....

hehe, yeah actually I brought up the calculated evasion thing a long time ago in so other threads (as did many other people)

more to the point, indeed the horse was nerfed along with pallies horse because it was supposed to be a fluff spell. however the problem is that the look of the black horse contributes to the dark feel of the sk, and should really be able to be upgraded. the entire spell becomes absolete shortly after you buy it (or if you buy a horse right off the bat) which is a waste of an animation. I like my carpet and all, but I dont really feel skish on it.

and the only other horse that will make you feel like an sk is one of the pof horses with the armor on it. I kinda wish we had an illusion that would make any mount carpet/horse suddenly look like an sk horse. then agian these new horses with patch 18 have glowing fire eyes. which we sks should have gotten along time ago I remember when the game first came out we had brown pack mules. why is it sony can build a gaint game like this with great graphics, then they mess up on the simplest things??

where can i see a picture of the new horses...

And if you want to see what or horse should really look like... check out World of Warcraft and look at mounts for Warloks.

And tell me that horse wouldnt be the ideal mount for us.  Not saying i dont like our mount,  i love or mount.  Just wish they  would put the speed back.  But am happy to not have to look for 78g + for a mount until i am ready and rich enough to do so.

And for those without a squire, use the mushroom pet from Splitpaw. Or group with someone, cast your evasion and leave group. It'll still be on (yourself).

heres a link of the nightmare horse and blackgaurd on top of it. too bad you need a lvl 40 guild to get it. I think its a perfect high level SK horse. I wish it was SK only lvl 60 required and with some super long/hard quest to keep it rare http://eq2.ogaming.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15872

When will people stop whining about this goddamned horse? Do you not understand that this spell was always intended to be a "fluff," or entertainment, spell? You should count your lucky starts that it has any speed increase whatsoever. Or would you rather have one of those demonic squirrels that just follows you around and looks . . . demonic.

The point should be, "the Shadow knight and Paladin mount should NOT have been a fluff spell."EQ2 has so much potential to be a kick [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] MMORPG but lacks the earth-mover lead developer/CEO.The mount should have been a lvl 40? maybe 50 with decent speed. But this issue is minor compared to many other issues. I will say this, there seemed to be a huge drop-off in players during that time of "whine-fest '05" on the forums. This seems to be the time that WoW really took off. I know our own guild and a few others lost a good many players around that time.It still chaps my [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] that they dont right this. Who know's, maybe some day a real leader will walk in to SOE and finally make this game what it can be.

Yes, the Nightmare mount is very apropriate, that was my point, why give us a cool black horse that suits our class if you are gonna make it slow, I woud gladly pay 50 plat for an upgrade on this spell.

I was never impressed that a fluff spell was so useful, so I called for the nerf (or fix in my eyes), and was happy when it happened a long time ago. But I also suggested that instead of a fluff spell, the mounts for ShadowKnights and Paladins become an actual class skill.

Recently, I thought about it, and decided upon this: Your mount starts at 10% speed bonus at 20 as usual, but every level, it gains 1% bonus to speed. By 60, it's a 50% bonus as you and your mount are one, never apart on the battlefield. You empathize with your steed as it empathizes with you, and you can push it to the limit in and out of combat. A Knight and his/her horse has seen everything, and are completely fearless!

And maybe, every 10 levels, (30, 40, 50, 60), the horse gains additional minor benefits, such as Crushing/Slashing/Piercing bonuses, neat and UNIQUE looks for both Paladin/SK steeds (ie. different from the steeds that are going to be available for guild level 40 soon), and anything else you guys can think of.

Good luck, and keep crusading!

Maybe if our current horse wasn't so fugly, we wouldn't care so much. Personally I don't care that it's only 10% speed. I just wish it looked better. I bought the 1.38p horse just so I could have a decent-looking, black horse, and when I can afford it, I'll buy one of the armored mounts or the spirit mounts.

I was bummed to see the GL40 horse be my SK dream horse....

^^^ also agree 100%

Nightmares should have been the Shadowknight horse, and it also should have been one of our class specific abilities, come on we are knights for Innoruuk's sake.

On the subject I think each class should have a specific mount. We should have the nightmare, Paladins would have something [Removed for Content] like a "Unicorn with daffodil armor". Necromancers could have a zombie or skeletal steed.

Too bad sony doesnt have the imagination or art resources to do this

*sigh* Yes, it never should have been a fluff spell.  That's the only reason people complained.  Who cares that we get a runspeed boost?  I didn't complain that scouts had pathfinding.

Sheesh.

why do i need a lvl 40 guild to get my Class Mount...... that makes no [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] sense.  Did they stop and think that not everyone is in a guild.

Because its not a class mount.  Everyone wants it to be, but thats not the case.  It is a guild level 40 perk.  I would love for us to actually have a kickin evil looking horse that was specific to us, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I think the only chance we will ever get a mount that is evil looking and SK only is if they ever make some sort of alternate advancment. Which they have no plans on doing or atleast haven't said anything about it.
