I've been having a hard time choosing what weapon type to use.
 
What do you guys think about what weapon to use as a SK? :smileyindifferent:

I'd say, best weapon is 1 handed sword, 1 handed spear, 2 handed sword, 2 handed spear, 2 handed axe. it depends on what you want to be. if you want to hit fast, 1 handed sword. if you wnat to hit a little less faster, but do more dmg, use one handed spear. but if you want to hit hard, with speed, use 2 handed sword. if you want to hit harder, with less speed, 2 handed spear will be good for you. if you just wanna be slow, but cut people down, use 2 handed axe. There ya go. But for me i will use 1 handed sword to take advantage of most of the SK's shield effects and 1 hand effects, although they also have two handed skills also.

Personally, as the above poster said, its all about what you want to do. Me, im going eq1 route and that is have a nice 2hr and a nice S/S so im ready for any situation.

except the shadowknight is limited to hammers and swords 1h or 2h variety.

Best weapon would have to be whichever you HAVE
 
2hander gives more damage less armor
Sword/Sheild gives less damage more armor

Can someone list exactly which weapons a Shadowknight can use, as well as a comprehensive list of what he can't use?

Sk can use ONLY sword,hammer and mace's 1h and 2h variety.

Being able to use a 2H hammer is cool, but its sad they cant use 2H Axes or a 2H Spear (if your implication is correct).

I like using one handed weapon/shield combo in groups as MT (I take less damage, I am easier to heal) and 2 handed weapon solo (better DPS it seems).

I have both a 2h and a 1h/shield on me at all times. SO I am ready for tank situation, or dps as well. It seems the most versatile. Always prepared for anything.

Skullcrusher in Fallen Gate - awsome weapon, better:ish then Shadowblade of Zeal (that you get when you become SK). I also carry Soulreaver that i bought.

Personal recommendation: I would try to keep 2 combinations available at all times.  Sword / Shield and a 2H.
 
Reason:
 
If you are the main tank, you will probably be better off with the sword/shield combo to prevent more damage and also use some of the shield abilities to block for others.
 
If you are not the main tank, you will probably be better off with the 2H to deal more damage.  Also, I'm not exactly sure how power abilities / weapon delay interact with each other but if what I think is true happens to be correct, then you're probably better off with a slower weapon.  What I think happens is that once your weapon swings, the delay begins counting.  If you use an ability during the delay portion of your weapon, then the ability occurs (while the delay for the weapon is being counted) and then when your ability connects, you swing your weapon if the delay on it has completed.
 
I wouldn't mind hearing from warriors / shadowknights who have tested this to see if it's true.

well ultimately we want to kill tough mobs as soon as possible...that's the difference between life and death.

there are only two considerations when chosing a weapon:

  1. average DPS
  2. The protection gained from weilding a shield

I have not had to compare any weapons yet but DPS prolly = dam/spd like this:

  • one 2-handed weapon does 20 max dam with a speed of 2.0: max dps = 20/2 = 10
  • one 1-handed weapon does 10 max dam with a speed of 1.0: max dps = 10/1 = 10

both weapons do the same max dps but the 1-handed lets you use a shield so it's the obvious choice

I currently us a 1-handed hammer and it says 'i have just started to realize this item's potential' but i feel underpowered

the base dam is 5-14 with a 2.0 spd and is 1-handed = 7max dps plus sheild

skullcrusher is 7-21 with a 2.0 spd and is 1-handed = 10.5max dps plus sheild

soulreaver is 6-17 with a 1.0 spd but is 2-handed so no shield = 17max dps no sheild which would be great in a group as a secondary tank and should kill mobs in about 60% of the time it would take skullcrusher

The Skullcrusher quest drops in FG - the item is called "Old military pick" or simillar...

That assumes a 100% hit rate. Soul Reaver of 6-17 dmg 1.0 sec would be around 11.5 avg dps.When soloing, I think I do most of my damage via spells and HOs. So having an inferior weapon isn't a complete drawback because other arts make up for it so far.Weapons that I have in my bag at level 12:Bounty Hunters Maul 2H 11-33 @ lvl 16, 2.4 seconds - 9.167Zatzy's Bludgeoner 1H 6-18 @ lvl 14, 1.8 seconds - 6.667Freeport Citizenship Sword 1H 4-13, 1.7 sec - 5.000Tin Tulwar 2H 5-15 dmg, 2.0 sec - 5.000Now, at level 12, the BHM (orange) only scores 8-25 dmg (6.875) and the Zatzy's 1H (yellow) is 5-16 dmg (5.833). The Tin Tulwar has finally outlived its usefulness (light blue) and the Freeport sword is also light blue.Now, let the arguments begin as to whether to compare weapons based on max damage, average damage or other methods (kidding!).
