Well we all know that monks in EQ 2 rarely look like actual monks, as there are very few Gi choices, and one cannot simply wear lesser Gi's until they find a better Gi upgrade.  So why cant we always look like actual monks/brawlers wearing our combative Gi's?  The simple answer is we can! I propose that they add an option in the user interface for us to selcet a Gi and choose "set as character appearance."  What this would do is to allow us to wear whatever leather armor we choose but APPEAR to be wearing the selected Gi.  To everyone around us we are wearing our martail arts Gi's and kicking butt, but in reality we are wearing are usual hodgepodge of gear. What do you guys think that play these classes?  If you respond= "BAD IDEA, THEY JUST NEED TO ADD MORE GI'S," then please dont waste this threads time with your post, as that has been asked TONS of times, and they are NOT just going to add over 20 Gi's oneday. Allthough i really wish they would.  In the meantime however lets hope this idea takes root so we can at least look like the cool martial artists we are! =)

ok how about this BAD IDEA mainly because it would take up too much resources, all leather would need 2 models and having an option like that was brought up with soga models. It would create alot more lag. Gis are meant ot be rare. Also adding an option like that would make other classes cry for THIER own option of some sort. Dunno what they'd want but people will always think of something. The Gi topic has been touched on many times and thou this is almost a original idea it just will never happen. sorry dude

Im gonan vote bad too.  People earn those Gi's, having a model that is available to them that they didnt earn would cause a huge uproar.I am fine with the currect Gi situation, just make more!

Actually I dont get why a bruiser in his right mind would even want a gi. Gi´s are for monks and dont really even look like a gi should. The gi´s in EQ2 look like crap. Too ugly to even consider wearing. Especially if an iksar wears gi it looks ridicilous, like a [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] [Removed for Content].

The gi´s should look like karate or jiu jutsu gi´s look like in real life, not the ballerina-looking uniforms they look like in-game.

Just my opinion =)

I think monks and bruisers should get a bare chest bonus similar to the fighting with bare fist bonus. It would almost always be better to wear the leather chest peice but it would not be mandatory. This effectively turns every pair of pants a monk/bruiser can wear into a shirtless Gi.

I like the idea but the solution would be much simpler than that, male races can already take their armor off and have a bare chest, but doesn't make sense in a practical way as we spend all this time getting armor to INCREASE our stats. What I'm fascinated by, there is a /showhood, /showhelm emote but no /showchest option, why is that? I mean it's not anything to do with gender, because we know men can run around half naked. Ok granted, the chestpiece is the key to all graphical enhancements to the clothing model, but we do know u take the piece away, the toon is half naked.

This would open up the roleplaying further for everyone. Berserkers can run around like Conan (although SOE stuffed it by sticking the nutter in plate armour), bruisers can run around like their lvl1 toons (bare chested which is how we should be imo), and monks can pretend to be Bruce Lee!

I always thought of Conan as a bruiser not a berserker. The problem with a /showchest emote is that it makes bruisers/monks even less unique. The priest and mage classes should have to keep their shirts on and so should the plate tanks. Monks and bruisers should be the only classes that can go barechested into battle.

There are currently two "styles" of Gi. The ugly, mexican wrestler, just missing a latex mask, style... and the bare chest and shoulder style.

The second one looks pretty good. They have a couple variants... one with puffed out pants, and the forearm right up to the elbow covered... another with tighter pants with just the wrists covered. Both have shoulders and chest bare (well, the women get some [Removed for Content] coverage).

Honestly, I think variants to those would make decent Gi. I might even entertain some kind of wraps-type look (either cloth wraps style for the monk, or leather bands for the bruiser, etc).

The wrestler look has to go. Might not be quite as bad on the females.. but on males, that chestpiece is just ridiculous.

Btw.. while on the subject of armor art... what about Mankind's leather mask as inspiration for a Bruiser specific helmet? Closest thing I can think of to the "Bruiser" concept without going into actual leather helmet or gladiator metal helmet looks. I'm pretty much through with skullcap look... but a leather strap mask?

Yeah, yeah.. kinda "[Removed for Content]", zipper mouth-ish... but Mankind seemed to pull it off. And if anyone is a bruiser, it's him and his Mandible Claw.

Examples:

Mankind's Mask                                          Leather Gladiator Mask

Well apparently update 27b on test should have our new Bruiser specific looking hat. So my suggestion was probably way too late.

I just hope they don't continue with the Armor Quest look they finished with... if I wanted the "padded helmet" look, I'd just turn my graphic on when wearing one of the bazillion leather caps already in the game.

Easy fix lvl 70 fun spell "full class outfit" including each class hat. Sure it will get annoying seeing everyone in the same uniform.

I got our class hat right here.

Either that or just give us one of those old school leather football helmets.

Just as a comment to the OP... if the Gi is that big of a deal for you, like it was for me, just never take off the newbie one until you get a better one.  My bruiser is like level 20 and I just kept my newbie island one.  To make up for my [Removed for Content] stats, I have rare rings, and rare armor all around.  I also duo with my wife (defilier) so my stats aren't lacking very much anyway to begin with.  All in all it's pretty fun, and I still look like I have that shirtless thug look.
