In all honesty, there's not much to look to in real life comparison considering fighting unarmed and unarmored was nearly always an inferior form of combat. The Beserkers in this game wear full plate and use all weapons, including bows.. the only thing they keep with the original real life concept is the fact that they "go crazy" in combat.

Bruisers seem more the armor and combat style (combat arts) of a Berserker... but with martial arts weapon flavour.

I think we just have to face it and accept that while Norrathian lore is similar to real world... it's got its own thing going.

Personally, I think any head gear would be kind of strange. If they could do leather headband, I'd agree.. but in case you guys hadn't noticed, headgear always ALWAYS removes any hair you have... so that simply won't work unless they code in for a different headgear model replacement.

Plus, there's not much space on my iksar's head for a headband... and a headband is rather useless to a cold blooded creature that has scales (no sweating, no hair, so what's the point?).

Were these things supposed to do JUST the head graphic? Or were there also shoulder/chest graphics going along with it (there was a picture of an animal headdress and bare chest/shoulders)? Cuz if so, I could picture a spiked/studded headgear and shoulder type armor for bruisers. Short spikes, like the gladiator mask..

It can still be in leather.. what's wrong with the gladiator mask in leather with metal spikes? And then some spiked armor for shoulders, with just straps holding them in place across a bare chest (or with some extra [Removed for Content] coverage for the ladies).

Something like these (ignore the obviously NON bruiser trying to wear these things).

Both shoulders covered...                                                                   Or a single shoulder....

Or maybe imagine the shoulders and forearms being completely covered, like these but with straps across the chest:

Only with spikes... to go with the helmet.

Or am I wishing for too much here?

berserkers in RL were also known to fight completely naked... they were that crazy

im not sure what a bruiser would wear really... yeah we're dreadnaughts, evil thugs, brawlers ready to stomp people

nothing i can think of really fits

but im fully expecting the old school leather football style hat... for the loss

Ah w/e, not sure if our opinions really matter as it seems like they already have something in mind and are working on it, but still fun to guess what it could be.

I think whatever our hat does, it should provide a sunglasses graphic to go with it.  The Hogan look, or the "Biker" look ownz.

I like the idea of a bone headpiece of sorts, my favorite thus far.

What about bone? its not really plate nor leather. The idea came from back when I played diablo II.

Who the hell wants to mess with someone who wears a skull of something they killed over there head.

Just a plain skull would be horrible, and I cant quite imagine the D2 ones looking all that great either(well maybe, all depends). Would anyone agree with a skull of some sort?

Love the bone helm idea.  A studded or spiked leather head band wouldn't be bad either.

The Hulk Hogan bandana would work pretty nice as well. SMILEY

You do know there is such a thing as Hardened Leather Plate, which if cured correctly Looks and molds exactly like any plate helm out there.

Out of all the ideas posted I really liek the gladiator style armour. And as depicted by the many posts about the "original" bruiser armour most bruisers prefer the leather strap armour over the really really unappealing padded look they are giving us.

[edit] I realize these probably look pretty silly, just throwing it out there as a basic idea. I realize that theres no way they could be this elaborate. [/edit]

Crabbok you are nutz arent ye heheheheheh.

I am telling ya we are gonna get beanie caps with propellers on them. What we should get is the same kind of hat Arnold wore in Conan the Barbarian when he was fighting as a gladiator. Looks like your basic leather cap with bone spikes sticking out of it. I

I actually don't really care for that armor on the guy with the monk hat on.  Not for a bruiser anyway.  Granted, it's an improvement over the padded look - but heck, why not just wrap us up in toiletpaper?

A bruiser is basically like the barroom brawler, we started out as kids as the schoolyard bully and just took it from there!  Today we would wear a leather jacket, old Metallica t-shirt, ripped jeans and a bandana.

Someone mentioned the leather strappy look, which I think would be perfect.  A bruiser should be the sort who wears black leather with spikes on it.  Maybe naked arms, spiked wristguards and a black leather shirt and pants.  A black bandana is my favorite suggestion for a hat.  (although the cheesehead in me holds a little love for the cheesehat)  Personally I think the gladiator hat would only work if they changed our armor to match - otherwise we would look like we're playing dressup for Halloween.  And for a weapon option we should have brass knuckles, or better yet, spiked knuckes.

But who am I kidding, whatever the hat is, odds are it won't be worth messing up my hair to put on.. lol

Ok, i could tell you right where i took it, but it wouldnt help us much because i took a pic of an npc. You cant just go "Hey you! what kind of armor is that?" Heh. Although, i did correctly assume SOE recycles armor graphics. So it seems wer have to wait on Gaige. So how 'bout it Gaige?
