Monk or Bruiser?

looking to make a new alt here soon just wondering if theres is a big difference between the two classes or are they for the most part the same? whos the better tank(granted the players are of the same skill lvl)? who does the better dmg? is the avoidance rating between the two the same? im more interested in how good the class is between 20-35 since it seems i can never play a char for to long before i like to make something new and different

Well, as you can probably tell from a lot of the posts here, many bruisers would prefer a monk. I personally am going to go with ( and I know its lame and you hear it all the time ), 'play what fits your style.' Monk is more of a tranquility sort of fighter. Smooth moves and all of that. Bruiser is more like a bully. I have heard it said that monks weigh a bit more towards AGI, and bruisers towards STR, but I dont know if it ever was, or still is, the case. Personally, I love playing an Iksar Bruiser, and as such I'm not really interested in what monks can do. Last night in RoV I was doing about 30-45dps depending on the mob level ( some were orange ) when i was 29, and when we got jumped by a group of single up reds while the tank was restarting his comp, I tanked them without much problem. I'd say, make your choice based on if you want to be good or evil ... personally, the whole happiness of the Qeynos area makes me sick =)

Personal preference. I don't think there is enough difference between the two of us to make a decision based on game mechanics.

monk deffensive buffs, bruiser offensive.

monks more suitable for tanking since we lost bruising spirite's fast recast time.

I picked bruiser sololy due to the self heal spells. I knew i was going to solo and i greatly dislike figuring what to target in the thick of things.

Its why i betrayed.

Though the white outfit is cooler than the brown one we get now.
