It's just the Masters gi from the dojo... It's ok I guess.. I mean.. it was underused an all. I just though it was kinda... you know... poofta looking. :smileysad:What happened to the chest straps and arm wraps look from eq1?My brother just started playing eq2. He was pretty disappointed at how I looked ingame after playing with my eq1 monk for so long. He thought he could do better and qhipped htis up in about 10 minutes.  You be the judge.

man they made it look like some retarted sultan's outfit, not a monk outfit.      Bah and why just a change to the level 20 armor quest gi?  IMO they need to make armor look different for every single class, and stop lumping us all into just 4 classes when claiming there are 24 classes in eq2 lol....what a huge joke!      Scaled armor for a monk should look completely different than scaled armor for a druid........PERIOD!    Chain for a shaman should be different than Chain for a Rogue, ranger, and so on.

Lao,

BTW that yawn wasnt for your post with the drawing, that is a pretty sweet look....but the new one they made is just pathetic.

isn't that the same way it was when it first came out ?  a lime green [Removed for Content] suit ?  then they changed it to white.  now that.

Yeah that looks just like it did before the first total revamp of armor appearances.

Actually its a darker, more orangish color than the original yellow of the AQ gi.  The graphic is exactly the same though.

Thanks for the sneak peek =) Although i'm not too happy with the look, i'm glad they gave us brawlers something different instead of consentrating on Plate.

What do you want? Neon space armour with ninja power jump boots and Reyban shades? Warriors are in bog boring blue armour (attack of the smurf clan?), wizards are in shapeless robes, thieves are in off blue chainmail. We are all boring looking clones. Monks already look out of genre enough already without adding teenage mutant ninja turtle outfits. You should be glad your not in brown robes with a rope belt and a bowl haircut. Your'e monks. Which monastaries have you been visiting?

I was happier with the plain white AQ than this yellow/tan dyed version. Did the Devs forget how happy it made everyone when they changed the AQ to being white instead of puke yellow? Why did they feel the need to screw with something that was fine to begin with? In my opinion this is a change for the worse. x0rtrunks, that would make a neat armor graphic. SMILEY I don't think any class should have boring looking armor and right now thats what all classes look like: boring. Maybe the Dev's will wake up and realize that the players want interesting looking armor and variations between classes, races and sexes. Or maybe they'll continue to think that everyone that wears plate wants they're armor to look ultra conservative/realistic rather than a bit sexy and interesting. As for monks in brown robes with rope belts and bowl haircuts, you're thinking of the wrong type of monks. :p EQ monks are based off the martial art practicing monks of Far East, not European monks. I think the Gi of the Ashen Disciple is a great example of a sexy and interesting looking armor graphic. I get compliments about it every day and all the women in the guild wish they could equip the female version of it. Now if the Devs would just take that spark of imagination and make plate, chain and cloth armor graphics that are as nice....

I was pulling your leg SMILEY Although if you ever saw shaolin monks they look nothing like the manga monks people seem to want. I just dont want them to make eq2 chars even more cartoon like with 10 feet wide shoulder spikes and 3 inch wide eyeballs.

If I may, I'd like to intercede with a "western" description - True Shaolin monks look [Removed for Content] cool.  :smileyhappy:

They are very humbly dressed, but practically so.  This is to ensure effortless movement, humility and the ability to maintain flow and harmony.  Yes, even their clothing reflects their lifestyle.  Check out the video at the bottom of this link.

Here's another descent pic from BBC news:

I wouldn't mind it in the least if my toon's look reflected the RL Shaolin monks.

I'd bet that you're correct. It's likely that the only reason the rujarkian gi is being changed is because it shares the same graphic as the AQ gi. :smileysad:

I'm rather confused by this whole thread.   I thought the monk AQ Gi was white, and looked exactly like the Bruiser Gi, except that it is brown.  Specifically, I thought the Monk AQ Gi was identical in appearance to the Rujarkian Woven Gi - same graphic both white.

If the second picture is the new Gi....then this is beyond imbecilic.  They scrapped the Gi look altogether?  That new armour looks like some abortive design attempt at creating pyjamas for Wardens!

I hope the Rujarkian Gi isn't transmogrified into the sub-leather mutation that is shown above.  It is would be an utterly retrograde step.  It is bad enough being 60 mitigation below scaled...if I have to wear the Ashen Gi as my only option that's about 100 mit below scaled.  The Dark Disciple Gi is a possibility, but raid loot is unpredicatable.

The existing white Rujarkian Gi is a lovely design, the Ashen Gi a step nicer again.

The warden pjyamas are fine for L20's but pls dont use it for any endgame Gi designs.  Sorry for the invective, but it is genuinely horrid.

I believe the 2nd picture is merely the AQ gear w/o the chest piece equiped. I assume Gaige posted that to show what the other armor pieces look like (since wearing the chest gives the "gi" look).

Umm... what the heck is that armor? When they announced the new appearances, I actually believed they'd reveal some new and awesome model. Instead, they give us the SAME model, just pick a really ugly color for it. Lotus, what gives man? Even you have to toss your hands up and agree, this is just sad. Okay, how about you change the color back to white and add in some neat looking pattern. Like black flames or something? Please?

You don't have to give up the old armor to get the new stuff. The original gi isn't going to be given out anymore, but anyone who did the quest still keeps it. You can get the new one in addition to the old one if you've already done the quest.
Why is the new gi orange? Because it fits with the ranking of the Silent Fist Clan. Rank colors are, in order of importance: white, yellow, orange, red, purple, blue, black. The color is meant to indicate that the monk is no longer an initiate, yet still has a ways to go along the path of advancement.
Remember, these armors are given out early in one's career. They aren't supposed to be the ultimate, but rather to give a taste of what lies ahead.

As far as I see, new Gi stats are way worse than current, since even it is L23 mission, you have to find triple mobs with L25x 3 arrows up on path. Ofcourse they are not meant to be solo ones, but I guess it should have represent the mitigation stat wise of all work done for it.
