Ok all knowing seers of monk lore.. I'm in the middle of a problem. I'm currently a 27 Monk (halfway to 2SMILEY using firwood fighting batons with 2 Oakwoods in the bank waiting for me to hit 34 (correct lvl to use right?). My firs went blue to me and I'm trying to figure out a low cost solution to upgrade to some decent dmg good +agi weapons (duel or 2H doesn't matter since I spend most of my life tanking and use 2H to lessen the riposte). Advice comments and flames welcome! Thanks,Kharza (27 Monk Mistmoore)

Oakwood batons are 29 and I'd honestly just hold out until then.

I used player crafted fist wraps, there good untill 30 where a player can make fistwraps that will ge good untill 40. If you can find the rare leather from T3 you can make really nice weapons, they need to be attuned however.

You can also look for splitpaw (I think that's it) which is an additional +1 AGI over Firwood.  Speaking of Oakwood, I just got myself a pair, +10 AGI each I'm very happy right now.

The splitpaws are badass, but they're $$ on the broker if you can find them at all.

Oakwood can be really hard to find though. At least on Mistmoore I've never ever seen them for sale, nor seen them ever drop, and this after helping people do the EL access boat ride 6 times.

Personally, because i can't find them, I'm using a pair of briarwood batons. They aren't as good, but it works. I've trying to get a pair of Pristine Forged FeyIron Rods.. just cause I really like the look of the Rods. Little metal fist on a stick *heH*

I also never find handwraps for sale so I'm not messing with those for now SMILEY

Yeah I haven't seen Oakwoods on Mist either (luckily I'm getting two hand me downs). The best luck I've had on the handwraps is to check the black market if your on the Qey side.Kharza (27 Monk Mistmoore)

I found weaponsmiths tended not to make them, some of the weapon were broken to make untill the last big patch find one that is selling a crafted weapon on the boards and contact him and ask if he will make you a pair. This is what I had to do. There are several types, get the one with that stats you want, I currently have Pristine tailored etched fistwraps. WHen I tunrned 20 I bought two fist wraps from a vendor in town for 30s each or so, they had no stas but did good dammage, they worked untill I could find a weaponsmith.

I picked up a player-made pristine slash weapon and pierce weapon for like 50s a piece, that max at 30.  Stats slightly worse than firwood, but not that much.  Added bonus of training my slash/pierce while I wait for the oakwoods, too.

Oakwood batons are player dropped, not crafted.

There's always at least 4 oakwoods on the bazaar on Permafrost.. maybe I should snag a pair now and put them in the bank rather than leaving it till 29?=-/

I think theres some confusion in this thread about oakwood.oakwood fighting batons (referred to by Gage) are usable at level 29 and are rare.oakwood quarterstaff (quarterstaves ?) are usable at level 34 and are relatively* common.I myself, utterly recklessly (after a bit of luck trading in palladium clusters) boughtmyself a pristine conditioned oak bo staff (cant use yet) to replace my pristine conditioned ash bo staff.Im sure dual wielding has some place in my future but I think ill be waiting to see what the EL boatridehas in store for me...*compared to oakwood fighting batons

For clarification please can someone post the stats on:

1.  Oakwood Batons
2.  Oakwood Staves

Also any other similiar or preferably better weapons to use between these 2 lvls?

I got a drop from one of the named undead in the fields across from Tower One in Thundering Steppes.  Although I'd already bought a couple from the broker by this point, which seem readily available on my server.  If you keep checking the broker(s) regularly I'm sure you'll find some, they are a fairly common drop from what I've heard/seen.

i cant remember what i used pre mid-upper 20s but i was sporting the ebon 1/4staves utill i could use my 2 ebon eye maces(lvl 29 i think), and have just recently replaced both of those with an ancient mace of the watcher and a slime covered mace which are both form the new zones(watchers mace is dropped off a lvl 33 ^^^ group*2 in the ant instance, and the slime covered mace is a quest reward for killing a lvl 33^^^ group*2 in the CL instance), unfortionatly im a stat [Removed for Content] so i dont see those getting replaced anytime soon but i may just suffer with the lower stats soon to carry a more monkly feysteel cestii that just look awsome...

I used two firwood quarterstaves (+6 agi each) till 29.  I had to hunt out for weeks leading up to level 29 to find the oakwood batons.  But, they are worth every penny.  Check the broker (and black market) often to see if they are up.  They seem to be a pretty rare drop.  I've only seen a few monks wielding these batons.  If they stay this rare, buy them as an investment.  As the currency devalues because of more gold coming in, you could probably get double/triple their value in a month.

Not-so-off-topic:  In the rare cases that I am delegated for damage, which weapons should I be looking to use @ 30?

I am also a 25 Monk (though I am on Crushbone).  I think the best bet for readily available weapons is pristine boiled fistwraps, cestus or cestii.  [/rant] Cestii is the plural of cestus.  Totally gramatically incorrect to name one thing a cestus and a DIFFERENT, SINGLE item a cestii.  Argh. [/rantoff]

In any event, misnamed or not, these are all good through 30.  If none are for sale, find a weaponsmith selling other tier3 stuff and contact them.

I lucked into one Firwood quarterstaff on the broker.  I often use it in one hand and a cestus or cestii in the off hand.  This has the advantage of training up all three of crushing, piercing and slashing (switching between the cestus/cestii).  Good luck!

How is that Slime covered mace?  I just bought one but need a couple of levels before I can use it.  Can you go into more detail regarding the Toxic Sting proc?  How is this weapon damage wise compared to other weapons equipable at level 33?  I'm just trying to gauge if it was a good buy or not as I took a gamble buying it (not knowing much about it and decided to buy rather than risk losing it while doing research).  How easy was it to get the weapon via quest?
