Does raising Crushing skill affect CA's

Hey all.Well I recently rolled a zerker and getting to the stage to start playing with dps ect...I have asked around and got two answers to the following question, does anyone have a definite answer - it will save me the time of testing it SMILEY

A few of our CA's (skills/spells) say - hits xxx crushing damage. Will x be affected by how high your skill is at crushing? or is it just down to STR.I am using a spear and will prolly only change to axe, if at all. Just want to know if I should grab a blunt weapon and raise crushing.Thanks

Good question, im not exactly sure but i beleive that it doesnt affect it at all, i would think the quality of the CA (adpet 1, ad 3, M1 etc) would be what actually does count. But im quite possibly wrong about that =)

No raising your crushing, piercing,a nd slashing skills raises your % chance to hit the mob.

Raising your CA (apprentice to adept to adept 3 to master raises the damage) also raising your strength raises the damage

if thats the case why do my CAs say things like 40% greater chance to hit with a master version and like 30% greater chance to hit with an adept 3?

It may well be that C/P/S helps CAs to hit(though im not sure about that) and it certainly increases your chance of hitting with auto damage. But im 100% certain that increasing the level of the spell increases chance to hit because it tells you exactly that in the spell description!!!

What he meant that combat skills effect on how you land hits, they're not raising the % on CAs, skills prolly still affect on how CAs land, but it doesn't increase the hit % on examine window , only upgrades do that.

Thanks for the replies.Yeah I did a bit of testing, raising crushing skill. It did not affect the damage stated on any CA that hit with crushing.But the question about the hit% for the CA to land is a good one! SMILEY
