![]() Anyone tried to equip their guard like another class and play them that way? Would it work? DPS is a prob and if we're not MT anymore in most groups then why do we still waste our time equipping ourselves in heavy plate? Why not use some of that better leather and chain armor with excellent agi and str and int stats on it to try and squeeze out more dps? I'm just trying to find something I can do to make my Guard fun again. Since they stripped all the usefulness out of him it's kinda like EQ1 again where i have two things to do - taunt and hit. I miss the strategy of the old abilities that debuffed mobs. There was thought behind playing a guard then.... I find more often than not I'm not wanted in groups if I can't be MT since my main abilities that make a guard special spread damage out between Mt and myself. What healer really wants to have 2 guys to heal in a fight instead of just one? Arrrrgggg. |

you'll end up with alot less mitigation, and no where near the avoidance of the brawlers.. they get "defelction" bonus... you'd be selling yourself short.

I did this awhile back for fun. I purchased an entire set of leather armor for my Guardian and was trying to see how high I could raise my avoidance vs brawlers. It didn't turn out so well but the outfit was a refreshing change.I have an entire set of STR gear that I use on raids when there is no AOE and I'm sure I won't be needed as a tank. Even with STR over 600 (I know the cap is 440 :smileywink:), the increases in my CA's and auto attack values are minimal compared with not equipping STR gear and being in defensive mode with a 1H and shield. Even with the best group makeup, haste, dmg procs and modifiers etc, our dps is the worst of all fighters. It's just not possible to play a Guardian as an offensive tank only since even a lazy player on a Beserker or Bruiser character will out dps us by a long shot. Our handicap is in our own spells and you can make some of that up by hand picking a group to help your dps. But really who ever get's that option, since the real dps in raids get the best buffers and we are put in whatever group has space leftover.An offensive Guardian is a Beserker. Really they should just remove our Offensive stance since it's an insult anyway and beef up our Defensive buff instead.

![]() I have 55% avoidance with food and self buffs, i've hit 65-66% with certain buffs from other classes. My one hander is a 60.4 damage rating, ya like wielding a two handed cobalt weapon in one hand. have 1009 attack raiting in defense stance with a one hander. Other than my resists i'm pretty happy, Guardians weak spot is against arcane damage, that's our achilles heal. I do still beleive we need a increase in dps, a heal of some kind, and some utility. things i would like to see, 1. Would like to see a short term buff like wall of might that instead of increasing mitigation increased our group's arcane resists for 30 secs. 2. A heal of any kind would be welcome. 3. A short term immunity to stun buff that lasts maybe 15 secs. 4. Offensive stance changed to something more in line with what a guardian is, we are combat leaders, our offense stance should increase our dps in a meaningful way, perhaps making us more accurate with a small amount of haste say 5%, get rid of the drawbacks to defense, we lose enough defense simply from switching from defense to offense, less mitigation and defense, we shouldnt be further penalized as no stance is completely useless to us. Buffing str does near nothing to increase dps significantly. I honestly never use it and always am in defense stance, i can solo better with it and still have over 1000 attack rating. 5. short term avoidance buff, something that gives us a 3-4% increase and include a short term hp buff, duration of perhaps 14 secs. 6. change inflaming defense to something more in line with our high avoidance, if we arent getting hit it does nothing.

i tried playing my guard like a healer, got like +20 in ministration gear... my heals just don't seem to work though :smileysad:
