Same problem here, been trying to get into the game for 30 minutes now.

Oddly enough, the game ran perfectly during the trial period. Left WoW to give EQ2 another shot and was cautiously optimistic all the problems of the original launch were long gone.

At this rate, my return to SOE may last only one month.

I'm running EQ2 through Steam, and just encountered the "unable to contact login server" problem today.  I'll try the launcher to see if it will work.  thanks.

(I put a ticket in, also, since apparently they've only seen a 'handful' so far...)

His workaround does not work, it only works if you 1: have Profit Installed  or 2: have the game fully installed. I run the streaming client to prevent from downloading all the old stuff I do not use IE: old zoens and such, and to keep LoN from installing.

Is there any other way to log in (like maybe not using the streaming client)?

If so, how do you change the way you log in?

Thank you in advance.

Indeed there is.

The problem seems to be associated with the streaming launcher (launchpad.exe).

The Station Launcher however seems to be authenticating just fine, and you can get into EQ2 from the Launcher.

It can be downloaded from http://launcher.station.sony.com/ - It is about a 16MB download and a quick install.

Hope this helps

I did this and it tried to do a complete new install even though I selected the 'existing' game etc etc option.

Keep in mind that if you download the Station Launcher, its not compatible with the assets that the streaming launcher uses, so it'll need to download the entire game.

The streaming launcher and old launchpad apps don't use the same asset system, so they cannot be installed on top of each other without causing potential issues.

The old launchpad apps downloads the assets into the PAKS directory.  The streaming launcher downloads assets into the ASSETCACHE directory and the file formats are not the same.

Workaround's not doing it.  Just puts a process into the task manager and never actually starts.

well I tried your patch in the other thread, and while I get farther, I stil get told could not connect to a login server.  The servers may be busy; please try again in a few minutes.

Side point, is there any performance benefits to the streaming launcher vs the launchpad if they are doing things different?

There's a fix that worked for me in this thread.

Try out Rothgar's fix and see if that did it. It did for me.

I copied and pasted the work around and still not working.  I even opened the link in another window to be able to copy and paste the entire URL to notepad.  I saved it at the top and bottom of the .ini file and no luck.

The work around is not working for me either. I tried copy and pasting it, and typing in the full URL and placed it in various spots.

What URL did you put into your ini file?  Don't put it in with the dots, the forum screwed it up.

I just got it to work for me. No idea what I was doing wrong the first few times but I first opened the link in a seperate window then copied the address and pasted into the file. Then I went to Rothgar's post and copied the first part sans link and made sure to have a space between and it worked.

I used the following in my default.ini

cl_resource_address http://eq2.patch.station.sony.com/p...eq2/assets/live

I typed in the url without the ... and with patch/eq2

and this is not working.

Yikes!  No login for me as well.  Statio Launcher seems to reset all my graphic settings and UI settings.  sux.  Will try workaround instead.

Are you still launching the streaming patcher or did you run everquest2.exe directly?

I did the workaround and launched the .exe but it now its just trying to download the first zone I logged out of and its taking forever. I'm at 7% loading zone resources for Neriak and this is after 20min.

Apparently this workaround is working for some people, but I would rather not reinstall EQ2 if the streaming client is going to be fixed soon anyway. This will be resolved, correct?

Yes, it is being looked into.  Hopefully there will be a resolution soon.

Well I just pinged all the login servers to ensure I could actually see them

199.108.12.33 199.108.12.65 199.108.12.97 199.108.12.129 199.108.12.161 199.108.202.33 199.108.202.65 199.108.202.97  199.108.202.161

Got a response from all of them, tried logging in and it works now.

Not sure what the issue was.
