One of the things that chased me away from Vanguard was how completely BLACK the nights were.  You had to have *two* torches just to barely see in front of you, and even then stuff would come out of nowhere.  I finally got so anxious during the night cycle that I just stayed in the cities during that time and worked on diplomacy.

I like EQ2 right where it is, night-wise.

So you are saying that you felt anxious during the night cycle because you were afraid of being attacked? Don’t you find that a reason to play a game. In my opinion to make a game challenging to player, you need these types of obstacles for the player. If it was just plan easy, no one would play the game for very long. This is no different than being underwater. If everyone could breathe underwater there would be no use in having totems of the otter or water breathing spells. So either they need to remove the spells/totems or make it useful.
