Actually hardcore raiding will just get u patched up in all the colours of the rainbow, like a colorpuzzle with nothing matching. (Unless u get a full set of relic) But Gi's are the way to go...

Doubleattacks from str line also gives doubles in ranged attack. But yes, monks get more out of barehanded fighting. haste selfcapped with small delay dw's makes u loose few autoattack swings each...
