Other then pushing RMT into our faces where exactly is the content for this GU?

|

Was wondering this myself.

Bug fixes and the like are all well and good (and needed), but, we need more new content to see us through until the next expansion.

Next expac just announced as launching in Feb 11.

This means we get GU57 in August and GU58 in November.

Just been announced at fanfair that GU58 will include

Possible new event besides frost fell and nights of the dead.New itemization for sf bossesReitemization in 1-20SF Hot zonesMore armor pieces for marks

So, apart from a 'possible' new live event, no new 'content' here either (im sure if there was any new zones, dungeons or gameplay content it would have been mentioned before the above)

So, in each GU from Sundered Frontier launch to Velious launch the only new gameplay content we have seen is

New Halas (delayed SF expac content)

Battlegrounds (delayed SF content)

Icy keep raid zone (delayed SF content)

Underfoot Depths raid zone

Storyline system (new content? or just a fancying up of the quest journal)

PvP Warfields

New live event

(Many thanks to Feldon over at Eq2wire.com for the fan faire updates)

Yes, this is "an empty year" in terms of content ... S'F is really boring, too small dungeons, linear solo timelines, only two adventuring zones ... And a new farming system called Manaar. We were just out of Void Shards. The new X2 raid is way too hard for small Guilds and not in line with what we had with WoE wich is the best Guild experience I had.

Beside a new dungeon wich should be revealed at Fan Fair, I wonder what we'll have to wait until next Feb. I saw many people in my Guild who stopped playing EQ2 because they felt really disappointed and started getting bored.

The EQ2e annouce as well as the "revamp" (awful downgrade) of particule effects did not gave them the desire to come back at all ...

Thank you for ruining our community with such stupid decision.

Perhaps its time the development team is reminded that this new 3 month update cycle was SUPPOSED to be so that we would get bigger and better updates.

And Smokejumper promised something "really exciting" with the next game update and then the excitment involved in what the new expansion was...I hope that EQ2 Extended isn't supposed to be that something exciting, because HELLO, the majority of your community is NOT excited about our game being stolen, stuck on a new server and then all new accounts being funnelled into that server with a new payment model.

Not exciting, at all.

Come on. Do something viable in three months, instead of fixing stuff that shouldn't have been broke in the first place.

|

Yeah try fixing Perah Celsis

|

New expac will be released on EQ2X only more than likely. To ensure live dies even quicker than they hoped.

|

The Mark comment reminds me to reiterate something I'd hoped to see rolled back: Can we eliminate the "trivialized" mechanic for Void Shard instances? Especially now that there is superior armor through other means, those of us who love questing and really enjoyed guild groups using mentoring to do Void Shard instances in Befallen and such miss that a great deal.

There's no incentive to take advantage of the content in those zones if they can only be accomplished at color-con. I understand the desire to hold a certain line on achieving things, but who on earth would invest the time necessary to get sufficient Void Shards for Shard Armor now?

Don't shut people out of deprecated content. It might have made sense before SF, but doesn't really now. Just my take.

Am I wrong for feeling ripped off here? Less updates but more content was what was promised while it seems they have spent their extra time not on content but on garbage.

I mean seriously am I not getting new zones to play in and new quests and new gear so that you guys can put a big SC on the UI?

|

I don't really care about the station cash button, I really don't.

What I DO care about is new content going into game to keep things interesting enough to carry on playing till the new expac. This GU is pathetic, just pathetic. There is simply nothing to this update and its taken 3 months of paid time to do?!

Prove me wrong by all means and add some update notes to show more CONTENT being put in, in which case I will eat my humble pie and like it.

They do get easier when you mentor down. You also have the advantage of getting AA, possible loot, and possible coin.

This whole time the only thing they have been working on is F2P and RMT. The whole sham of a "UI upgrade" is just to put that big SC button in our faces. I'm quite surprised that they actually thought we would buy that we were really getting an upgrade to the UI. I'm also curious as to what happened to less updates and more content.

|

Yeah, kinda seems like they're just trying to force Extended down our throats, making graphics worse (SOGA and the particle effects) and just try to make us believe we should be happy. Lol.

|

Like I said, perhaps there will be a surprise addition of stuff to do?

|

I know being negative is frowned upon on these forums but looks like a pretty worthless GU to me.

|

Additions are :

- 3 new questlines in newbie zones (all but TD): pretty linear still, but, well, what would one expect? ...

- 3 new tradeskill questlines in T2, T3 and T4: 27 very good quests with very good rewards, (well, 36 quests if you do both evil and good side on 2 different chars for the T2 questline). They're nice and fun and Domino rocks.

- New Halas writs in Moors

So... 6 new questlines, 2 city tasks, a revamped Gorowyn (if it can be called an addition) and... er.. .well...

ah, yes, there is an addition : SC button and SC items on regular merchants...

Yeah, it's the RMT updtate... Give us all your $$$!

This update will be a big failure and is a big downgrade.

|

I honestly wonder if Michael Eisner isn't running SoE or something, because I feel more and more betrayed with each passing day with this update.

I've heard they did the same in Darklight. I keep meaning to run another character through there to see.

It honestly feels like this game has been sold out. Enough with the RMT stuff sony. It's a turn off to new players and the community. Yeah it might bring in some cash but it has long term effects which are gonna kill the game and keep people from buying future sony games.

As for the game content...........where is it? Seriously. Quarterly updates were promised to bring bigger updates with more content. All the content that has been released since SF has been horrible. Icy Keep....really.....I mean, REALLY?!?! The Underfoot Depths is good for high end raiders but the majority of the player base wont venture far into it. Yes, Halas is a nice addition, but you can't give us one new starting area and take 2 away and try to claim you added content.

Here is what I think the player base would like. Add in a few more instances and one more raid zone early from the velious expansion. Do it as a lead in to the expansion or whatever. If this expansion is as big as it is claimed to be (which I doubt), then you should have plenty of content to do this.

Well people forgot to mention the GU's before SF. The one where lucan was kidnapped. If I recall 2 updates before SF he was kidnapped and there was 3 quests evil side, and 2 quests good side that talked about that. There was some fun lore that came with those quests, but that was all. We did have 1 update that was only bug stomps which I do appreciate that. I am seeing us get less and less content. I didn't really care for SF. I did some of the Beta Testing and early into the Beta testing I lost interest in it. I didnt like the farming of shards during TSO, and I dont like the Marks, BG token, Seals, and Eci Token grinds of SF. I think it kinda sucks that you have to constantly farm zones to save up some type of token to get average, and even raid gear. Now we have this crap. I do love domino. She puts out great stuff. I just hate the TS grind from 1-90. I am seeing less of a reason to even bother with my sub. I would love to see things go back to the way they were when I fist started playing this game. You started out in the colonies, and then you would take the ships to your city and you would have to do a mini event. If you made a wiz in qeynos then you would start off as a mage at level one and then you would become a sorcerer, and if I am not mistaken you had to do a quest to become your subclass to be able to level up. Then at 19 had to do another quest to level to 20 and become your final class. Then we had our spirit shard runs when we died. It sucked when we died and had to go find our bodies, but we worked harder to keep from dying. I know I did. Some places I just tried to find the safest way to get my body back. EQ2 was alot harder back in those days, BUT I loved that. Now I can do the RAF thing with a friend and in 1d 6h of total gameplay I can PL a toon from 10 to 80. They wont have that much AA, but that is with 1 level 80+ toon mentoring. Plus the toon that is mentoring gets a couple levels out of the deal. EQ2 has been my first and only MMO out there, but I am starting to wonder about games like Star Trek Online. Dont get me wrong I have loved EQ2 since the first time I installed it and ran the game, just harder to keep an interest in it. I log on to chat in the channels more then anything.

|

I'm starting to feel the same way.

Once you have gotten your toons leveled etc other than the finger nails on a blackboard style grinding of AA there isn't much to really do. Another shard run? /wrists

I talked friends & family into playing this game. Sorry, I mean I talked friends & family into playing EQ2; this really isn't EQ2 anymore. It's more like EQ2 at 95, senile, feeble, barely able to acknowledge someone entering the room, and awaiting the grim reaper. When they launch the F2P version, that'll be the reaper at the door.

On the upside, Rift should be out next year.

So, is that really it? I mean, UI changes, a few low level tradeskill quests, changes to low level abilities, unnecessary nerfs ... and no content?

Well, I don't think we can expect much.

The balance of power is not with EQ2's budget, atm.

Like they said, they're trying to focus on expansion content, and given that TSO and SF are meager in comparison to RoK, I think we can't really argue that we should let them try to make DOV somehow one-up SF...

Sentinels Fate has WAY MORE TS quests then ANY other xpac before it. You can literaly quest a crafter from 80-85 without ever crafting from a single recipe book, leaving 10 books of first combines for bonus xp to get 5 levels. Plus the TS signature quest for your crafting weapon. To be honest there has not been any crafting quests in updates since but w/ that much crafting content in the actual xpac, what did you really expect ?....cant have your cake AND eat it too.
