View Full Version : About Raid Tanking after LU13
<DIV>ok Finally, me and my guild started some "serius" raid last week.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>First of all to put you in situation, my guild is a only spanish people guild. That makes hard to get a high amount of hardcore players, so we arent, right now, a high end guild.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Our server, Crushbone, i think is one of the lower raid lvl servers. In Crushbone Vox been up for over a week before someone managed to kill it after the first revamp it got ( 57 and WoF revamp ).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We killed almost everything in T5, some of the contested, but not all them. And i think only 2 guilds been over us.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Well going into the issue.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Before LU13 the base was : </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Put reactive heals on MT</DIV> <DIV>Put Wards on MT</DIV> <DIV>Put Regens on MT</DIV> <DIV>Pull the mob.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Heal was pretty under control if you used this pattern, and here comes my problem.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We did Lockjaw raid, didnt beat it yet in our 2 trys, but we found out his strategy now. Not going to tell anything here to dont ruin other guilds fun. But lockjaw seems to be pretty easy once you get him and if you are lucky and he doesnt bug much.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We went inside Living tombs epic instance, and here we found our problems.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Once i pulled the dmg output of encounters was high, on normal mobs priests were able to cover it with fast heals till reactives wards and regens jump in, but in named mobs ( the vampire on the main room for example ), eaten my [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] badly.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We tryed the old pattern but the shamans got killed so fast.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We been experimenting with 2 guardians on MT group, Guardian Sphere is solving this problem, buti know not many use it, so im wondering what other things you do to mitigate the initial damage, till the Reactive, Wards and Regens go in.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any input?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I haven't tried it yet myself, but how does Tower of stone work for raid pulls? Seems like it should help quite a bit.</DIV>
<P>tower of stone is a good spell yes but it wont be the difference imho.</P> <P>3 hits arent that much for some mobs. its a lot for a mob like darathar ( old one ) that was hiting very slow, but some fast hiting mobs will eat it fast enough so you wont even notice it.</P> <P>Beside with the destroying rate of shields that the spell has is not a good choice for long instances like Living tombs epic, i carry with me 5 shields, 1 fabled kite for usual tanking 1 ironwood and 3 of the comon crafted t6 shields. beside i noticed that the spell does more damage on comon ones than on legendary one, and i guess it will do even less on a fabled one.</P> <P>On my t6 comon shields is doing 25%-30% ( variable ) pero hit it takes, so a full spell = 75% - 90% of the shield.</P> <P>On my Ironwood shield is doing 15% per hit, so a full spell is doing 45% of the shield. Giving to it 2 uses.</P> <P>An input on the numbers of the spell would be nice ( mine is adept 1 ).</P> <P>And back to the main point of this post, .. what do you do to mitigate Tank damage on first seconds of encounter?</P>

Don't need to mess with sphere or tower on pulls. Heres a good cheap trick to pull. Have someone like a monk with tsuanimi pull. He should live about 10 seconds with no heals.. plenty of time to get all the debuffs in from your heaelrs/brig/etc.... then shoot a rescue off to get agrro then tank the mob. Problem solved, no broken shields. I wouldn't put 2 guards in MT, sphere isn't that hot.. dirge can do the same thing more often, and boost 600 other stats. Tower is one of our useless skills, until they fix it ;/ <div></div>
i been using monk to pretank, WS style, i guess i need to work over it a bit more maybe thats the solution.

Debuffs are your friends.. most raid mobs are really hard pre debuff. Most raid mobs are really easy post debuff. So keep it busy for ~10 seconds and get it debuffed before you lock it in. If you have to keep it busy yourself, slam all your mita buffs at once. <div></div>
