AQ isn't easy on freeport side, I'd suggest buying a full suit of steel vanguard if you have the cash. You can sell back or to another player when you replace. I also bought a full set of gold jewelry from the vendor until I saved cash for Pristine Fasioned stuff.

<DIV>I would recomend getting armor from either the npc vendor or if your rich and you have an armorsmith on your server, the pristine carb vanguard stuff is excellent, I would especially get a pristing helm since the quest doesnt have one, also dont buy gloves, bracer or boots, since you will get those pretty quicking being that they are the first pieces.  The rest though is a must.</DIV>

Nyric in the bowyer shop in EFP. And no the armor quests in FP aren't that easy and can't be done at level 20 in 5 hours. I'd go ahead and buy all the pieces of Steel Vangaurd minus the gloves / bracers from the shop in EFP (best price) and possibly some good jewelry. Armor is 30-45s per piece, jewelry is 23s/piece. I didn't get the full quest set until level 24 or 25 and all that extra AC helped me out while leveling. Also, once you get into Thundering Stepps money is easy (freeport SUCKs for loot) so spending a few gold here and there is np.I'd try for a Steel Platemail Helm (dropped at pirates in Nektulos) or a pristine fasioned helm. I'd also go for Pristine Fasioned Agate/Gold jewelry eventually. The stats are great.

Trust me, you will not be done fast, AQ3 in particular can be a pain as the zone is so buggy. Get a good group for it, it is the worst of the lot really, in terms of bug related problems and deaths. I also found it useful to buy Vanguard before I started, as it helped to have decent armour to do the quest, but plate would do. Swordsman, go back to Diablo 2, you have no clue as to what you are talking about.

<DIV>If you just wear your medium armor until you finish your armor quests then please do not post on the threads about how Guardians suck as tanks. Carbonite and steel vanguard have the same AC factors but look different. Steel Vangard is big fluted armor and the Carbonite is the simple bronze looking plate. The most important thing is that heavy armor will have something like a 15-20% higher AC factor over medium. If you the MT then you need that. If your not rich then first just wait for your gloves, bracer and possibly boots and look at the chest, legs and arms and see which would be the biggest AC increase total and get that piece. You can also resell the vendor bought stuff on the broker for about half way between the vendor purchase price and the vendor resale price so its not suh a huge hit to the pocket book, just a cash flow issue while you level.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Basically, unless your in a guild that goes to the different places in a raid for the quest monsters and sits right in front of a group that has been there for 20 minutes killing the mobs your now wiping out (happens all the time even on the RP server) then you will get basically a level per armor piece.</DIV>
