Seriously... Server upgrade time, anyone? And I was in the middle of movie capturing. Now I need to wait another in-game day cycle for the game to go into day mode. Sigh...

I'm back in, but I'm curious about something....

Aren't there supposed to be controls in place so that when the server reaches a certain population, it starts prioritizing logins by account type? I thought I'd read that somewhere. If that's the case, it needs adjustment (obviously).

I would love to work for SoE and make everything right again, lol. That is, SoE taking the step moving to sweden. Hahaha.Buuut... back to seriousness.Still have actually only had two people running my Delving into the Depths - Part II dungeon. Don't know how to reach out to the masses what with all the 500 token in an hour runs plaguing all servers ;(As for the controls, I don't know how it works. But the game Planet Calypso has the best solution ever in a mmorpg. All players play on the same servers sharing data, instead of dividing the people up. But each, or most, zones have their own servers. With a common chat system, storage, auction, etc... That way everyone can do things together. In EQII that would mean one server for lvl 1-20 zones, one for 21-40 zones etc. So when you shift to another level range or just geographic area, your char is transfered to that server while you play there, lowering stress in other areas for other players. It is working really well. If a server goes down for some reason, you get booted to the nearest telporter. (Like the travel globes in EQII.)Edit: Oh, and I have logged in now again too. Don't know if server reboots are manual or auto, but they surely do take their time.

I presume it actually is something like that here too. Likely the problem isnt a per zone issue, or the crashes would be localized to a zone or small set of zones; more than likely its some common/shared service thats getting hammered (lots of people very active during double experience days, ya know). Either logging or lookups cant keep up is my blind guess.

If that is the case, I guess they never heard of something called a load test....ya know...where you test servers as if 5000 people were logging/logged in...=P.

There definately needs to be a mechanism that kicksBronze first by the longest current session, then silver if no bronze players. A gold player paying a continued monthly subscription should NEVER have connection issues because of non-paying or non-subscribing members, if they had left all that on freeport then fine but now it has spread to all the servers, and SOMETHING since the last update where they did the mergers is causing connection issues.

And I'm not going to delete my cache, I'm not going to verify my data files, or D/L the entire game again if there was not evidence of many people being affected by this maybe, but it is being used here as a stone-wall/stall tactic because it is easier than actually forcing the hand of the network department to have to do whatever is necessary to fix it.
