Vampire Bats - Anyone using it 80+

<p>So I love the graphic of Vampire bats but the damage, DOT interval and recast time basically emiminate it from my general line-up.  Even just looking at the damge - its way behind other spells that refresh quick enough to be used again it its place.  I dont remember for sure if +spell damage (or is it Ability Modifier now) affected Vampire Bats.</p><p>Does anyone lvl 70 - 90 include Vampire Bats in their regular cast sequence? I'd love to find a way to make the spell stack up better against the others.  I havent actually parsed it, but just looking at the damage on the description, I'm not even sure +spell damage did much at all and with it being piercing damage, none of the typical necro damage type modifiers work either - which also probably means it doesnt trigger Lich now that I think of it.</p><p>I  noticed there is a 80+ upgrade for it ( forget what level it is) is it worth getting?</p><p>Incedently - I still use Dooming Darkness that hasnt been upgraded since what...the 50's? (level, not era, <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" /> ) probably pointless, but I like its graphic too.</p><p>Thanks</p>

<p>I only use vampire bats if all my spells are down and when I want to take a screenshot with bats /shrug.</p><p>But other than just being a "filler" spell, its pretty much useless tbh.  I wouldn't buy any upgrades for it.</p>

<p>With UT and/or AD VB deals fair amount of damage and debuffs a bit, even though it ticks for quite a long time.</p><p>Oh and Poltergeist, stop using fear and lifetaps in PvP, it's OP <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/2786c5c8e1a8be796fb2f726cca5a0fe.gif" border="0" /></p>

<p>personally i only use vb on raid mobs and when im soloing 3up heroics and named. ill definately expert mine but its near the bottom of the list for using a kaborite.</p>

<p>Well, I'm no leet player, but I use it all the time when soloing (probably why I'm no leet player <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" /> )  I cast it just as I'm sending the pet in.  Because of it's long cast time, it gives the pet a chance to get aggro.</p>

<p>I use it on any mob that I know will take a little longer to kill simply for the defensive reduction it adds. Otherwise on general solo mobs I never use it.</p>

<p>It is part of my spell rotation and always will be part of my spell rotation.  With AD it goes off every 3 secs opposed to 4.  Not one of the first I cast but def one I do cast.</p>

<p>My necro is only 67 so the spell might be a bit more useful for me now. But I typically use it because everything else is on cooldown and the debuff isn't terrible since alot of my friends play some sort of melee dps. But again they aren't 80 or 90 and miss a little more then heavily geared top levels.</p>

<p>I only use it because everything else is on cooldown...  If you work your spell rotation just right it fits in ok.  If I have to throw a heal/rez/manipulations spell or something I leave out VB to get the rotation back on track...</p>
