My question regarding the following two classes comes in two parts:

1. I hear a lot about the prices of gear / spells / CA's for Shadowknights, as there are a lot of people that have rolled them and as with any OP class that many play, the economy tends to adjust to exploit that fact. What is the current position with the same fact regarding Paladins? Do they share the same wishlists concerning items that drop of mobs (and therefore compete with SK's and other plate classes for that matter for gear) and do thier spells and abilities inflate as a consequence of popularity? And;

2. Although they are very different classes in their own rights, i understand that one of major differences are that the SK's are better towards multi-mob enounters as Pally's tend to shine more towards single target mobs. Other than that one fact, can either class be substituted for each other in the roles of solo play, grouping and utility (buffs, debuff and heals [for each respective class]) ??

My question comes after wanting to roll a crusader to play with a friend in a duo to satisfy a MT/DPS/Utility role while he takes a class for more of a healing/support role. I was wondering if being a returning (albiet near new player) if a Paladin might be a more cost effective avenue to follow but still get the role i was after. We were originally going to make evil characters (and therefore the SK was my option) to start in the same areas so i could show him the ropes, but i will consider the opposite given our current plight.

Comments and crit would be appriciated.

Thanks.

Pally's are excellent muti mob tanks. At the moment SK's are FOTM so you will be able to get the vast majority of what you need. (Master spells posted to sell because they know they will sell, over being sold to vendor because of low class population and worries over it sitting on the vendor board for half a year.)

Paladins are awesome aoe fighters don't let anyone fool ya on that. The one area that I see sk's actually do better would be soloing. Other than that both are awesome tanks for ae fights.

Each has their stregnths and their weaknesses that they bring to the table, both of which are brought out more so by the group setup and the content that you run regularly. If you have a reliable dpser that is significantly higher than the others you will run with on a regular basis and you plan on running with a specific set of individuals that include mostly caster orientation, you will have an easier time progressing with a paladin simply because that is what they were meant to do. Otherwise you'll likely find that in the current state of the classes progressing as an SK will be easier overall in pretty much all other scenarios than the paladin.

Paladins are amazing multi mob tank, with amazing feats for taking hits as well as putting the pain down. On any given night with either a Paladin or SK the outcome can be good or bad based on: Player skill, gear, skill levels, AAs, LAG, group support, and lets not forget a higher level tank mentoring down making it look even more uber
