Sorry if this is in another thread but I didn't quite see this same issue ...

Since July 8, anytime I camp from one character to another, on the same account, by using the command line parameters, without exiting the client completely, I get an application error.

So for example,

if I am on my guardianand I camp to my warlock by typing "/camp Araxes" ...

... it crashes.

This has occurred every single time when doing the command line switchover.

EDIT - it also occurs when I camp to the character select and then click on another character. It makes it to "unloading zone" and then I get the same error.

This is on Vista 64.

Here is the crash log.old (only for the most recent which was last night although it happened several tiems prior, also).

SOEBuild=5740LSOEVersionString=2009/7/2 13:17:14EVERQUEST2 CRASH LOG=============================================== ================================================== =Unhandled exception EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 0x000168BDApplication was trying to write to 0x00460047 Region Begins At: 0x00460000 Region Ends At: 0x00E7A000 Region Size Is: 0x00A1A000 bytes Memory Protection: PAGE_EXECUTE_READ (00000020) Memory State: MEM_COMMIT Memory Type: MEM_IMAGEGame Data: SOEBuild: SOEBuild=5740L SOEVersionString: SOEVersionString=2009/7/2 13:17:14 OS Version: 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 VER_SUITE_PERSONAL VER_NT_WORKSTATION CPU: 2 x86 GenuineIntel 25MHz RDTSC MSR CMPXCHG8 SSE SSE2 DirectX Version: 10.0 Video Card/Driver: [NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT ] [nvd3dum.dll] 7.15.11.8250 {d7b71e3e-4554-11cf-c87b-7ee902c2ca35} Time at crash: Thu Jul 09 23:11:20 2009 Login Server: none Performance: 7 Game Uptime: 20862 seconds Position last frame: -299.31, -47.39, -358.05 Zone name: commonlands Time in Zone: 1 seconds Previous Zone name: GameScene::ZR_NETWORKED_ZONE_CHANGE Multi-core support: enabled Low-Memory Mode: disabledLog: cl_eq2players_headshoturl = /uploadGameHeadshot.action (before) cl_enable_zone_to_group_member_zone = true cl_enable_zone_to_group_member_zone = true **** Unrecognized command - cl_enable_account_banning Received chat channel update msg... saving UI: MainChat_clone_0 main chat: writeCustomSettings for MainChat_clone_0 Received chat channel update msg... saving UI: MainChat_clone_0 main chat: writeCustomSettings for MainChat_clone_0Thread Data: Primary Thread Id: 2176 Current Thread Id: 2176 Current Thread Priority: 0Memory: AddressLimitMB: 4095 Load: 65% Total physical: 4292489216 Free physical: 1460187136 Total pagefile: 4294967295 Free pagefile: 4294967295 Total virtual: 4294836224 Free virtual: 2507145216Memory Manager: Allocations: 183518 Bytes Allocated: 437207824 Max Allocations: 326989 Max Bytes Allocated: 998206160 System Memory Allocated (MB): 788 Limit: 3070 Number of Allocate Calls: 8313581 Number of Free Calls: 8130063Registers: EAX 0x00460047 EBX 0x0C729208 ECX 0x3C513370 EDX 0x32D722B0 ESI 0x00000001 EDI 0x00000000 GS 0x0000002B FS 0x00000053 ES 0x0000002B DS 0x0000002B

It sounds like one of the UI files it calls when switching characters is causing a crash. You should be able to correct it by removing the UI/settings files and letting the game repatch them. Here is the list of files:

cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.ini

that crash log looks pretty much like mine except i'm running XP not vista, the issue started last night, camping from one character to another alt that was in a T3 guild hall. then everytime i tried to get that character in, until i finally deleted his ini files, I would get the application error. It was fine till an hour ago or so when I camped from the one i had the issue with last night to another alt, also in a T3 guild hall, boom, application error. just finished deleting his ini files and stuff and patching and gonna try to get him in again...

I had a similar thing happen to me a few days ago, I went to a pickup raid with my illu alt and I dropped my settings from the main setup to my raid setup (to avoid HUGE lag) afterI finished I loaded up my main settings. From there each time I did /camp name I crashed!! the way I solved it was to do /load_uisettings and reload the ui from another char, this worked fine for me and I've had no problems since, you could always give that a try and see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestions Daniel but after deleting those files and realizing it will mean that I have to spend hours, literally, re-adjusting every single setting that I had customized, throughout all of the gameply and UI options -- not to mention character UI files! I just decided to deal with the problem for now.

However -

It seems oddd to me that many other people are experiencing this exact same issue, and it started at the same time for all of us - ? People have even asked about it in the in-game chat channels on our server. Clearly something was modifed that has affected a number of players. Could you please pass this along to whomever it might apply to in the development chain?

Ara

My wifes computer is doing the exact same thing. Every time (100%) she changes toons with either /camp or character selet it crashes. My computer has no problem what so ever. Kitti's computer has an AMD 64 bit single core running xp SP3 with ATI 1300 (AGP I know its getting old she needs a new computer). Untill recently we had no problems what so ever with only lag being an issue due to age of video card. I usually keep her up to date on video drivers. I haven't updated it lately because she hasn't had any problems, so "if it ain't broke don't fix it" applied. deleted all the files but didn't have any luck fixing the issue. I have heard at least 10 other people having the same issue. Please help.

I am also having the same problem exactly..... and have tried deleting the files in question, repatching and no fix. It does not seem to happen every time however This is since the last GU.

My wife's computer is the same technically as mine, and yet she has no issues like this.

Erithorn

I'm having the same problem nearly every time i camp or camp to another character. My system crashes in a way so that i can't even terminate EQ2 via task manager. Only thing that works then is a hard reset of the system.

Can't terminate via task manager, hard boot required. Maybe it's not a bug, it's a feature to keep people in game! Happens from any zone that I've been in.

Deleting the files and repatching didn't help. And this has only happened since the last GU.

Yep, i'm having the same exact problem. Happens everytime i try to switch toon and when i camp out to desktop. I know ALOT of people have this problem since they talk about it alot in channels and asking for ideas how to fix it.

I had it since the last GU and it's starting to get VERY annoying. Especially when i have seen a group LFM in channel for a zone i need on another toon, i try to log that toon in but get the crash thing and by the time im back into game they either found replacement or i cant remember the name of the person LFM. I missed out on many questupdates this way and yes i'ts frankly [Removed for Content] me off heh.

None of the things mentioned in this thread has helped. Please fix this!

Does anyone else have crash logs from after one of these crashes? I'm trying to find the cause of this issue and I'm looking for any common symptoms. Another 2-3 crash logs from different people would help a lot.

Thanks

Glad to see your still looking into this. I will try the voicechat. We have noticed that sometimes we don't get kicked out I will disable voicechat on the pc and have my wife use it. She can use vent in the mean time. I will also try to log anything. If that doesn't work we use Profit UI we have installed. I will make a copy of all her ini files and Profit ui. I will then have her use the SOE UI. Will have to get back to you on this as she is not home tonight and I am kinda busy myself. Thanks again for looking into this. Cal

I just got the crash. It seems it also happens when camping to character select and then choosing a character. For me, the problem started around the 7th. Performance in the T3 guild hall has also gone down considerably, which is a complaint I've heard from some other guildies.

SOEBuild=5771LSOEVersionString=2009/7/16 15:59:40EVERQUEST2 CRASH LOG=============================================== ================================================== =Unhandled exception Unknown exception: 0xC000001E at 0x14481B20Game Data: SOEBuild: SOEBuild=5771L SOEVersionString: SOEVersionString=2009/7/16 15:59:40 OS Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 VER_NT_WORKSTATION CPU: 2 x86 GenuineIntel 2MHz RDTSC MSR CMPXCHG8 SSE SSE2 DirectX Version: 9.0c Video Card/Driver: [NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS (Prerelease - WDDM 1.0)] [nvd3dum.dll] 8.15.11.8172 {d7b71e3e-41d2-11cf-826c-7b2301c2c535} Time at crash: Fri Jul 17 08:09:29 2009 Login Server: none Performance: 7 Game Uptime: 1057 seconds Position last frame: -16.84, -1.41, 185.31 Zone name: tutorial_island02 Time in Zone: 31 seconds Previous Zone name: GameScene::ZR_NETWORKED_ZONE_CHANGE Multi-core support: enabled Low-Memory Mode: disabledLog: Calling OnZoning from OnStateChange Calling OnZoning from OnStateChange saving UI: Map Calling OnZoning from OnStateChange saving UI: Map2_clone_1 Calling OnZoning from OnStateChange Calling OnZoning from OnStateChange Calling OnZoning from OnStateChange Sending signal sys_client_avatar_ready m_processUpdateSpellBookMsg()Thread Data: Primary Thread Id: 3812 Current Thread Id: 3812 Current Thread Priority: 0Memory: AddressLimitMB: 2048 Load: 72% Total physical: 1073741823 Free physical: 898957312 Total pagefile: 2147483647 Free pagefile: 1073741823 Total virtual: 2147352576 Free virtual: 1015156736Memory Manager: Allocations: 263980 Bytes Allocated: 559587024 Max Allocations: 276427 Max Bytes Allocated: 565299504 System Memory Allocated (MB): 540 Limit: 2048 Number of Allocate Calls: 916355 Number of Free Calls: 652375Registers: EAX 0x1443001E EBX 0x860E6198 ECX 0x3CFC9EB0 EDX 0x3B2C86D0 ESI 0x00000001 EDI 0x00000000 GS 0x00000000 FS 0x0000003B ES 0x00000023 DS 0x00000023 EBP 0x00000000 ESP 0x0012F8FC EIP 0x14481B20 FLAGS 0x00010206 CS 0x0000001B SS 0x00000023FPU Registers: CW 0x0000027F SW 0x0000403B TW 0x0000FFFFFPU Rounding Mode: NearestCall Stack:Frame 0: Invalid stack frame: Can't be readEnd of Call Stack

Same problem here. Running Windows XP and Profit UI. Every time I camp to change toons the game crashes.

Same issue here and it's driving me nuts. Using ProfitUI and WinXP. Happens when camping from one character to another. Happens about 60-80% of the time. I know it's going to happen because my screen gets a bit dimmer (gamma correction seems to get a bit darker) then the crash box shows up in the middle of the screen and when I click it, it closes my game. Wish we could get a fix for this, as it's causing me to lose places in groups as well.

Just to add to this- I also notice a lot when I'm camping from one character to another, it takes me to the character select screen instead. Then when I click play, a box pops up informing me of something before instantly closing my client. Not sure why it's taking me to the character select screen when I'm camping directly to another character...

To add more to this- It doesn't just happen when typing /camp characternamehere

It also happens if you just type /camp and go to character select screen, then click on a character and click on play. Still crashes out at unloading zone info. Also has nothing to do with full screen or windowed mode, as I've tried both.

I know this can also be time consuming but do you also get the problem logging of completely, then relogin and choose the char you want?

Maybe for safety pruposes until we know it's fixed, we should do that if we want to change chars

I am also experiencing this same issue. I noticed that the crash only follows a voice chat connection failure which is indicated in this screenshot: http://i31.tinypic.com/ouoaa9.png

Note: Crashes stop when disabling voice chat.

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 x64 RCOS(2): Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3Processor: AMD Athlon X2 6000+Video: ATI Radeon X1300 ProSound: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 4RAM: 2GB

Crash log:

SOEBuild=5771LSOEVersionString=2009/7/16 15:59:40EVERQUEST2 CRASH LOG=============================================== ================================================== =Unhandled exception EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 0x6142736BApplication was trying to write to 0xFFFFFFF9    Region Begins At:  0x017DCB28    Region Ends At:    0x0196BA4C    Region Size Is:    0x0018EF24 bytes    Memory Protection: Invalid | PAGE_GUARD | PAGE_NOCACHE (0018F314)    Memory State:      Invalid (25021224)    Memory Type:       Invalid (1998006263)Game Data:    SOEBuild: SOEBuild=5771L    SOEVersionString: SOEVersionString=2009/7/16 15:59:40    OS Version: 6.1.7100  VER_NT_WORKSTATION    CPU: 2 x86 AuthenticAMD 25MHz RDTSC MSR CMPXCHG8 SSE SSE2    DirectX Version: 10.0     Video Card/Driver: [Radeon X1300/X1550 Series ] [atiumdag.dll] 7.14.10.643 {d7b71ee2-3202-11cf-3171-0823a1c2ca35}    Time at crash: Wed Jul 22 01:46:06 2009    Login Server: none    Performance: 7    Game Uptime: 11087 seconds    Position last frame: 3.78, -13.99, 21.56    Zone name: qey_guildhall_tier2    Time in Zone: 21 seconds    Previous Zone name: GameScene::ZR_NETWORKED_ZONE_CHANGE    Multi-core support: enabled    Low-Memory Mode: disabledLog:    Loaded RINode: zones/qey_guildhall_tier2/rooms/qey_guildhall_tier2_qey_tier2_mainroom01_2.voc, tag 0x511f079d 0.00s    Loaded RINode: zones/qey_guildhall_tier2/rooms/qey_guildhall_tier2_qey_tier2_sideroom02_2.voc, tag 0x98ac76a9 0.00s    Loaded RINode: zones/qey_guildhall_tier2/rooms/qey_guildhall_tier2_qey_tier2_basement05_2.voc, tag 0x4c8e660d 0.00s    Loaded RINode: zones/qey_guildhall_tier2/rooms/qey_guildhall_tier2_qey_tier2_atrium_0.voc, tag 0x4bb525fd 0.00s    Loaded RINode: zones/qey_guildhall_tier2/rooms/qey_guildhall_tier2_qey_tier2_basement03_2.voc, tag 0x7148352e 0.00s    World bounds of (qey_guildhall_tier2) are (-57.482025 -14.034500 -28.072815), (52.944580 210.000000 115.852905)    [0.00s] VeRoomItemNodeLUT loaded    e:liveeq2gameclientincVivox.inl(4704): Vivox connection failed: 1072 Failed to connect to voice service.
i might have a diffrent issue, when i play (its done this to me 4 times already today) randomly my screen will freeze, become transulcent white (like a fog is on the screen but i can still see everything) and then crash the game client. did it 3 times when i was questiong and once when i was in my guild hall..

I had this problem until yesterday. That is when I disabled voice chat. I've switched characters without crashing 40 or 50 times since then.

Same thing is happening to me too.. SO frustrating and time consuming. I'll try disabling voice chat before I log.

I am getting this same error message when I "/camp (character name)" from one toon to another, I've noticed a lot of topics and threads within the last month that all have this posted, and one said it was supposedly fixed by deleting a patcher.vpk but I can't find this file anywhere in my EQ2 directory so what's goin on?

Although I'm gonna take the rest of this week and the weekend to continue to test this, at the moment I logged on both of my computers, to each account and swapped from toon to toon with the /camp command and cycled through about 10 characters each (for a total of 20 toons about, 10 on each comp) and did NOT crash once after un-checking the "enable voice chat" box.

However being as it has never been a guarunteed crash, was only happening about 50% of the time and there were a lot of possibilities involved (long play times, camping into and out of guild halls and other zones, and other factors, I'll leave voice chat off for the time being and see if it happens anymore and post back here again on Monday and let yah know if it hasn't happened at all. But so far disabling the voice seems promising...

I'll give this a try tonight as I'm going to be doing some intensive reworking of my broker sellers and camping/recamping a lot

I hope disabling voice chat isnt a permanent solution since its vital on raids.

I did notice that if I was in voice chat I crashed almost every single time when /camp . If I wasn't in voice chat I didn't crash.

Has been happening to me since last GU.

Deleteing the suggested files did not work.

Disabling in game chat did seem to fix it. Have changed characters 20x now with no crashes.

Can still use VC. Just disable for switch the re enable once you are on the new char.

i'll have to try and remember to turn off voice chat as well before switch to see if it crashes or not.. like many have said, it's not an every time thing, but more then enough to be annoying. Especially if you are switching alts to join a group or raid and you get error and then have to mess with it to get back in, sometimes a few tries, meanwhile the group is either sitting around waiting for you, gone ahead and started without, meaning you miss some stuff or if it takes too long to get in again without getting the error, they find someone else to replace you...

Wife is trying the disabling of the ingame voice. Have noticed my account now kicks me out if I am changing from my single female toon to a male toon. Noticed that you get an ingame voice error when your first logging in a toon but then it goes ahead and loads. Anyone else seen this ingame error when they log in?

Ok this might be it. Kitti has been crashing 100% of the time but has not crashed once sense the ingame chat. must have something to do with the chat and if my memory serves me right they just added ingame chat to outside the game to station launcher. I could be wrong on that. SOE please dedicate more peeps on this. We are getting passed over for groups and raids because people are inpatient with us.

Yah I was gonna give it the whole weekend to test this, but I practically spent all day on EQII today (Thursday July 23), and didnt crash one single time, It's definitly the voice chat folks, deactivating it seem to be the workaround for right now, or at least deactivating it while you switch toons, then you can reactivate it on the next guy...

I didn't alt switch as much as i usually do, but i did switch a few times and had no crashes with Voice Chat disabled... I never turned it on at all last nite, but I also was just doing some back questing and gathering so didnt join any groups... today I'll probably switch alts a bit more to see what happens

Seeing as how the crashing is clearly linked to voice chat...is there a plan to get a fix for the voice chat soon so we can have it enabled and camp to other characters without issues?

Ok tested it with voice chat disabled and now my wifes account and mine are no longer crashing at all. She has a 100% crash rate before disabling the voice chat she now has not has any until we turned it back on and BAM it started again. Turned it back off and she was good to go again.

Like the above poster we have found this to be directly linked to ingame chat. Can you please update us with at least we are looking into it or something? thanks.

I went all weekend without getting the application error while switching alts with voice chat disabled while switching...

i guess i should now really turn it back on and see if i start getting the error again while zoning... but it's so nice not having to restart the game everytime, but in the best interest of the game, we need to know if it's something with the voice chat while switching characters.....

so, voice chat is enabled now and i wont turn it off before switching and see what happens...

Maybe it's trying to connect too early or something before other things it needs are loaded? All I know, is I'm going back to disabling it everytime before i switch (or at least remember to switch it off), which is annoying...

Please pass this on to the folks that deal with this.. thanks...

please don't recommend folks delete their ini files for this issue anymore (or their cache or the game exe), just recommend they disable voice chat before they /camp or camp to character select to select a new toon and then re-enable it after the character loads into the game, until the issue is fixed.

This is still happening even after the latest hotfixes =( I turned voicechat back on hopeing it was one of the things fixed as they did mention some sort of fix for voicechat, but after going to /camp to another toon it crashed again. Turned it back off and haven't crashed again since, it's definitly voicechat causing the crashes, and it works fine using it while i'm actually playing, its just /camp that seems to cause it to crash. Hope it gets fixed soon =/

I leave my voice chat off. Its not enabled. (not sure if the .exe is still loading or not)

However. This seems to happen to me more, when Ive been surfing the web or checking my mail when the game is in a window..

If I leave the game fullscreen and camp around between toons, doesnt seem to happen nearly as often. Like maybe once since this started happening.

I made backups of my .ini files. Deleted them and tried again. Same result.

So whats going on? Can I delete the voice chat server .exe to get this to stop happening as mentioned? Is that really the problem here?

I can /camp fine with chat disabled (so far anyway) but crashes occur when I /camp with it enabled. Oddly, though, it seems to happen only when I switch to my templar. I can /camp from my templar to another toon but not from one of my other toons to my templar. I need to do some more experimenting, though.

I never have voice chat running and have been getting this crash every night with exactly what everyone else has been saying. The only way I do not get the crash when capming to a different character is waiting approximately 2 minutes before logging the other character on.

Ok it's been 2 weeks since you posted that you 'think' you have a fix and will be testing it. Meanwhile, crashing/zoning/transaction lag problems have continued to get worse every day. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIX THIS? Don't give us platitudes or guesses. Don't patronize us. We're not idiots. Be honest for once and tell us exactly what the problem is and when it's going to be resolved.

Yes I am also experiencing this problem: after almost everytime i camp to char select then load up another character, the game crashes after clicking Play. Now the crash is making both instances of the game crash at the same time when i am boxing. Doesnt matter what Im doing on the other account even.

I really hope a fix is in the works

I know I nor anyone in my guild after telling them about disabling voice in the options has gotten the error while it's been disabled.
My friend is also having problems with the voice service .exe except instead of crashing the game the service will crash, and then restart and sometimes work fine and others it will crash 15-20 minutes later. it doesnt effect game play but is annoying because it brings focuse to the error making the game go to windowed mode.

cl_vivox_use_service 0

Adding this to my eq2.ini allows me to keep Voice Chat enabled and I can swap characters all the time. Before adding this, I had the exact same issue. Since adding this line (knock wood) I've only crashed once, and since that was after swapping toons back and forth for about 10 hours straight, I'm willing to forgive that little hiccup (besides, it happened in Qeynos Harbor, not even zoning, it just crashed).

Hope this helps someone!

I had the same problem with a new box I put togeter. I had copied the Everquest II folder over and thought it had something to do with that. I noted the comments about Voice Chat, so I went to disable it and forgot I had already disabled it (as I was boxing that account).

So I figured may as well ENABLE the voice chat....this WORKED! I have VC enabled on this computer and have changed over from a bunch of toons (both male and female) and no crashing (/knock on wood).

I hope this helps someone...and does seem to point in the direction of the Voice Chat as the root of the problem.

Cheers

Dexx (on Crushbone)

I have now tested it for a few days...worked great on the crashes when /camp toon...but my PC is now instead rebooting when it feels like it. And I crashed right away ones i treid to open the voicechat last night ( had forgotten about this little code )...so I removed the code...and swapped toon this morning...and crashed like before. But i think im gonna stick to these /camp crashes...atleast my PC isnt randomly rebooting :/

Out of curiosity... How many of you use the Load/Save feature for performance settings? I just came back after a 7 month break and I was able to /camp charactername just fine. Then I got my settings how I liked them and saved 2 versions, now I get this issue. Since people have mentioned that they and another play and have identical computers, and only one ends up with the issue... I wonder if maybe the one with the issue is utilizing this feature while the other doesn't.

I just got booted so I figured I'd look it up, gunna sign back in and delete those saved settings and see if it works. Will edit the post with update of how it works.

EDIT:

Did not work...
