View Full Version : Milk is not a liquid.

While I gather that milk is not an appropriate substance for some tradeskills, it just seems a little odd that recipes require generic liquid, but won't take milk. If you want, just make them require "aerated mineral water" or something. The point is all moot, of course, because I was trying to make cider with milk, and I think they reserve some level of Hell for that.

I know I wouldn't. Just the thought of it gives me "Oh that is soooo nasty" shivers.

Yeah... they made that update a while back, no more dog spit tea. I remember being upset way back because I had run out of water and recipes were using up milk (more expensive!) and I didn't realize it lol.

In RL, cooking with milk... and cooking with water.... DIFFERENT!! Try making a nice cream of wild mushroom soup with only water... or... as others have pointed out, cider with milk. I do think you should be able to make cider with milk... and have it give you negative stats/bonks OP on the head.

Pears if your making perry.

Well, if your adding sugar late in the process you might mix it with hot water to get a more even consistancy. Also you might delute it with water to mellow out the flavor but that is not typical of home made cider. It is typical of factory made though.

I really don't care how sick something tastes in real life to you, it has absolutely nothing to do with EQ2. Nor do I log into EQ2 in order to experience real life events.Point the OP was making is, that it states in the recipe that it requires generic liquid. And therefore any liquid *should* be able to work, but doesnt. If they would like specific liquids (in this case water) to be used then it should be listed.

ummm... Cider with milk seems far less disgusting than some tea made with Loam... Hello Loam=Dirt.

If that were so we wouldn't have half the recipes we've got, especially in regards to food. Yes, some of the food and drinks are in their own right, fanciful as others here have posted, but it's CIDER and there is cider in real life. And while I got what the OP was saying, that still doesn't change the fact they were consciously attempting to make cider with milk so they got a fun little /tease for it.

As I recall, all purchased liquid type thingies would substitute for "liquid" at one time. The problem was that the game only reimburses for fuel costs, and the game would grab the largest stack of liquid. So if the game grabbed Milk or Cream you ended up losing profit because the recipe was using a more expensive purchased item. Seems to me that making those not substitute for "liquid" was a player request.

And in this topic people are acting as if recipes should reflect those that are in real life.. when in fact as another poster pointed out, loam = dirt and it wouldn't make sense to make ANY drinks or food with dirt now would it?Everything is based off of life and it's lessons, Not once in any post made on this (or any other forum) did I try and state that it wasn't.However, in a fantasy type game such as this where people take on the roles of gnomes and ogres and dark elves (oh my!), and where you have food/drink recipes that require dirt.. I really don't think one should be complaining that in real life it would taste like crap and therefore the recipe shouldn't take milk.People play these games to *get away* and have *fun*, not to be reminded of real life. At least, I believe most people do.

Since the aeriated water and milk are the same price, I'm not really sure why it matters, but oh well. I have bigger problems I'd like to see get attention first.
