<p>I read elsewhere on the forums that the devs are looking to consolidate spells to that they are on a 10-level cycle (instead of a 14-level cycle).</p><p>I want to know whether this proposed change will only affect spells going forward (level 70+) or if it will affect spells that are already in our recipe books.</p><p>If it will affect spells that are already in our recipe books, then will the recipes for those spells simply disappear from our books?</p><p>On a semi-related note, I read that we will have to take AD3s to pristine with RoK in order to get the items we are after. I doubt that any sages would pass up the opportunity to make T8 dusts, so I'm not sure whether that will have any noticeable affect on T8 spell crafting. But I confess I do cancel out of T2 ad3s as soon as I reach the first progress bar (since the dust at that tier is practically worthless). Will the new "take-ad3s-to-pristine" rule affect old items in the game, or will it only affect recipes added to the game on a going-forwad basis (like those carpenter recipes that were added according to the new rules)?</p>

spell consolidation is delayed, not cancelled.as for the have to take it to pristine thing.... they plan to make you only get something at all if you get it to pristine, i.e. you only get some crap back if you dont take it to pristine.

The original info came from the <a href="http://eq2.allakhazam.com/db/guides.html?guide=1049" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">SOE Fan Faire 2007: Into the Future Panel</a>.Warning: timelines may have changed this that article was published.

<p>Spell consolidation and the swapping to 10 level progression are different things.</p><p>10 level progression is going in with Kunark, spell consolidation is not.</p>

It's been a couple months, but my understanding is T8 will be a 10-level spell span, the rest will change with spell consolidation.

Will we have upgrades available at 67-70 on launch, or will they be on the 14 level span as well?

When spells no longer exist, which has happened in the past. I suspect they will dissapear from our recipe books. Like the invis spells, they went to having quality levels to a scaling spell, the recipes/drops were no longer.

There needs to be a cutover from 14 to 10 somewhere, and backfilling into existing levels seems like more work than necessary. I'm not in beta, tho, so this is just a SWAG.
