So I was excited about the new +spell damage changes and decided to log in(been on hiatus after the spring nerfs, so If I'm missing something smack me around )Anyway I think they didn't quite fix things. 1. Abate Life only gets HALF of the sol ro cloak bonus (long cast time)2. Coil gets the FULL bonus on the first tick (long cast dot)*3. Rot gets the FULL bonus on the first tick (really short cast/dur/recast dot)*4. Pestilence gets what it should (1/3 or so)*5. Our PBAoE Lifetap gets NOTHING (Long cast aoe)6. Lich gets NOTHING (thought they worked on procs? they said it would at FF)Soooo, I'm assuming its just b0rked, and cant be cast time related (unless long = less dmg now which makes no sense). If anyone has any other examples to contribute that would be great.Testing methodology: Int/Str AA spec, Full Rotting, Some Grave Calling (90 AAs). Control was nothing in cloak slot to sol-ro cloak (no random gear changes +/- Int that way). Looking at descriptions instead of parses(guess they _could_ have messed up the display but it takes much longer to get a statistically meaningful set of parses). Thanks, Lemi Drunken'Necro

Yeah I'm testing with gear myself and found the Elanni silk blouse is better for damage than the necro fabled robe now...damages are similar to what you were saying.

As it currently stands:Lifetaps get 50% of the bonus from +damage (other 50% should go to the heal portion); Abate life appears to work correctly for this, but Infernal Cloud might be bugged, or just have rounding errors (divide by 3 for aoe then half that for lifetap.)Having dots apply full amount to first tic is intended; normalization no longer applies to +damage mods so fast/slow doesn't matter. (Cap for +dmg is applied based on the full base damage of the spell + 100%, so if you have +300 damage and a rot spell that does 5 tics for 50 damage, then it will look like first tic at (50+250 = 300) and subsequent tics at 50.) I haven't seen anything about procs being included, and no procs were being boosted when this went in on test server, but it could happen later I suppose. Archlich proccing for 700 on every spell might be a teeny tiny bit overpowered, hehe.

I knew ArchLich will never get a boost, that would indeed be overpowered, they said though that procs on gear will get a boost in FF, maybe they saw it will be overpowered?! but that's like 1.8 times per minute, come on .

As for the damage boost, it works as intended on my side, nothing bugged here, didn't check Infernal Cloud, rarely use it, but the rest r 100% working.

Reading is TECH!Anyway thanks for clearing things up catodon, I re-double checked and I was reading Lich as a reactive proc(I have a coercer too, so I guess I was just dreaming that it would work with lich too <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />). However I could not find the info about lifetaps getting half? How does that work with +damage and + heal items? do we get +1/2 damage and +3/2 heal? I'm not trying to be difficult but that if so, that might help me pick out solo tanking gear. (lifetap for 1k heal mmmmm)However I think There still are some bugs, even after adding +65, +25x2, +45x2 spell dmg (sol ro and whipmasters wrists, adornments) Cloud only gets the +1 or 2 points for the int instead of the 35 or so that I would expect. (not that thats a big number, but hey I'm looking forward to the al kabor robe and soulfire)ALSO Our new Bats spells (horde and swarm) don't seem to get bonus either.Should I just be bugging this instead of posting here too? I just don't want to waste dev time if I'm incorrect? Thanks,Lemi

check your gear too.. 4winds ring was removing the full bonus from rot because recast was under 9 seconds..

Didn't they say that the bonus will be removed from spells with recast under 2secs only.

Plus, Death Rot has a recast of 3secs, u meant Abate Life? still, it's in the category of 2secs+, so it's ok i guess.

Horde of Bats is Piercing damage, not spell damage, that's why it doesn't get a benefit.

I haven't seen any issues with ring of four winds as far as +dmg so far, but I think there is a problem with rot and/or coil spells when the bigger cast time/recast time buffs like divine recovery are used. Still need to run some tests to confirm it, but saw +damage bonus get halved on deathly coil after a templar used divine recovery (had to change out an equipment piece with +dmg to fix it.)

Noticed something earlier.

I don't know if this has always been the case, as i just recently got a +25 spelldamage item on my necromancer, but the thing is:It seems to work on our pethp-to-power-conversion spell. Because it's a dot, the first tick gets the full benefit (in my case, +25 dmg) but no change in power happens.

In other words, when you fully stacked up on +spelldamage, you hit your pet for quite a lot of damage on the first tick, but gain nothing from it.

As i said, i don't know if this is like it's always been, but just thought i'd tell.

Asked a guildie conjuror to check it too. Same happens to their instant-damage-to-power covnersion, and again without more power gained. Wizard conversion-spell didn't change according to another guildie.
