Do you still do the beginner island when you create a new character before going to the new fae city ? I've used up all my slots for characters all already, am i really missing much from the new city or do they end up being in the same place eventually that any normal player would? I don't have any expansion yet should i wait for the new one, will there be new characters slots so that i can enjoy the new area?

Fae and Arasi (i.e. the little winged characters) do not start on the trial isles/beginner islands. They start in a low level corner of their part of the world - there's still the same sort of beginner/training quests to do there BUT you are not on an island. Flap your newbie little wings to far on the map and you'll be toasted! The next expansion's new race will probably also start in this way. If you wait for the next expansion pack you will get all the previous 4 expansion packs for free, as they are being delivered in one big package. As for extra character slots, if you only have 6 character slots now (from the basic membership fee) then you should have 7 I think once you get the expansion pack.

If you mean like in FFXI, no, you can't buy more slots, but if you upgrade to All Access/Station Pass you get an extra 4 or 5 slots

What city you are alligned with determines where you start: Freeport/Qeynos start in their own version of the old Isle of Refuge (it has been 'split' into seperate instances with their own mobs/quests but basically still the same as each other), Kelethin starts in The Nursery in the north part of Greater Faydark (races that can start in Kelethin are those who used to call Faydwer home in EQLive), Neriak starts in a corner South West of Neriak in Darklight Woods (races who can start in Neriak are all the evil races, even they were not welcome in Old Neriak *ah'm looking at you lizards *)

The pass is now about $30usd a month and gives you access to all and future SOE games (as long as they are on the pass and you buy the software)

Kelethin races: Wood/Half/High Elves, Gnomes, Dwarves and of course the Fae

Neriak races: Arasai, Trolls, Iksar, Ogres, Ratonga and naturally Teir`Dal

Anyone is welcome in The Nursery/Kelethin (just stay away from the royal platform if you are evil, or can take on lvl 70^^^ guards )

Not sure about Darklight, only been there with mah Teir`Dal so far, but ah've heard as long as you stay away from the guards you should be safe (or at least /con the guards first), which is good seeing how you can get the Werewolf Legend & Lore quest in there

Unlike The Isle, The Nursery/DLW is on the mainland and you can return at any level so can meet a lvl 70 as soon as you start

The Nursery itself has progressive quests up to about lvl 7 or 8 (at that stage you should be sent out to GFay, but there are at least 2 quests that will have you returning at high lvls (first is a signature quest that has you 'chat' with an untrustworthy treant, 2nd is the 3rd Innoruuk Diety quest where you need to splat a lvl 55 sponge)

DLW also has progressive quests that take you up to about lvl 20, can leave earlier and adventure out into The Commonlands (when the quests start sending you to the area around the Spire should be around when you can safely venture to CL)

Only you can determine if the areas are worth it, but ah hope mah info helped

The quest rewards for starting characters seems to be better in Kelethin and Darklight as well.

You start in Greater Faydark, in the Nursery. Only Qeynosian and Freeportian characters start on an island (and it's not Isle of Refuge anymore)
