Err, no bookmark option on the new forums? I guess we are back to tag posts.

Thank you all for the immense support thus far.

I will be re-writing the Guide in a notepad and then coloring and formating more once the edit feature is up.

I will also add in all the extra info that is being provided.

Thanks again (back to checking out the options)

Seems the forum handle can only be changed once per day, bummer to give those options but make you wait to pick a different persona.

Wow, thanks for this information!

Wow... great guide! I can see that a lot of work went into this and I, for one, appreciate it.

I don't know if you have seen the PDF file that Crystallyne has put together, but it lists the location for all the L&L books plus a handy dandy hard copy check-off sheet for when you are done. If you want to take a look at it, go to http://www.crystallyne.net/eq2/landl.pdf .

She has a TON of great stuff to help out.

Thank you OneyEyedJack.

I will include this handy link in the guide above. Funny thing was that this was originally a list of where to hunt mobs for Hunter Titles, and it slowly branched out into where to hunt L&L mobs, and grew from there.

Does anyone have any information to add? A favorite place to hunt that certain mob? Your all time best place to hunt for status drops? I am wanting to expand on the original post to make it better, any other suggestions?
Brand new book locations for the 6 new Lore and Legend enemies are now listed!!

Just a note. The best place to hunt skellies and zombies is the graveyard noobie zone in fp. You also have some grouped zombie solos out in CL in the graveyards there that are pretty fast.

Stevil's top tips for getting L&L:

- When mobs are grey to you they are more likely to give you the updates you need.

- Find the low level non-heroic version of the mobs you're looking for and grab them in groups. A good example is the orcs in Commonlands. Just aggro 4 or 5 encounters (non-heroic) when they are grey and use AOE to see them all fall down. Then just loot your lore and status items.

- When you get an L&L drop but you haven't got the book or are too low to take the quest yet, store it in a big chest in you Bank Slots and keep it until you need it. Don't palm it off for 7 copper when it could take you weeks to find later on!

- If you have the EoF expansion and start a new character in Kelethin, you can get a large number of L&L books in your immediate vicinity. There are also mobs of that type near you too. My Fae Beserker is level 25 and he has already completed: Treant, Bixie, Gnoll, Orc, Skeleton and Goblin. You can too with little effort!!

You can get drakota Lore and Legend credit off the volcanu's in lavastorm, but only the ^^^ versions. The baby ones drop drake items. Specifically, I got the 3 non-tradeable dings doing the Maiden's gulch run, and then got an eye last night off a molting volcanu.

Yes notice that L&L Fairy is still behind a locked door that forces you to do a time sink quest to get to...This needs to be moved...That is all..
Ogrepaladin wrote:
BTW I am not seeing the starter location for satyr--where is that, please?
Sorry Ogrepaladin, currently there is no L&L quest for Satyrs, only Hunter Titles.

Great list - thanks a million. BTW, another couple of good places for skeletons is inside and just outside the Wailing Cave, Commonlands. There are skeleton orcs (around level 14 and down arrowed I think), which not only give skellie L&L but also notch up the undead AND orc slaying totals - at least I've had dings on both titles while killing those skellies. Just outside the Wailing Caves is also a good spot for collection quests, as you get some of the rarer ones there (liked Cracked Kerra). There, that's all my secrets shared!

DJINN Pillars of Flame (57+ heroic) <- pretty sure these are solo mobs

NAGA Shimmering Citadel (53? Haven't done Naga Since DoF on 3 of my toons, but all of them picked up Naga L&L from the undead naga in Shimmering Citadel.

Why in the world would this be moved to a Quest forum???

Places to hunt enemies are not quests. Hunter Titles/Rank stuff is not quest related. The Lore & Legend stuff may be a quest, but the other portion of this post (which it started as) will now be useless and totally forgotten!

Edit: Toned down the agravation, a bit hehe... I may reformat post a bit, to better display the info as a quest, instead of Hunting Locations (which was my primary focus)

I was looking for a tracking sheet that would allow me to track L&L for my various toons. I checked out the one from crystallyne.net linked in the original post, but it didn't allow me to track which pieces each of my toons has and needs.

So I made a tracking sheet of my own. Very similiar in style to my collection tracking sheet, it allows me to have a seperate sheet for each toon that I keep on my desktop. When my toon finds a piece, I just check it off the list, or if I already have it, check my sheets for my other toons to see if they need that specific piece.

The sheet includes the book locations from this post, each of the auto-drop/random-dings (1st three items after the book on the sheet), all the tradeable item drop parts, and quest levels. The sheet is sorted alphabetically by Quest mob so it's easy to find the creature quest you are looking for when you are trying to figure out if a toon needs a certain piece.

Hope someone else finds this useful.

http://www.ripchi.com/lnl.pdf

Many thanks to Ripchi for the very nice tracking sheet provided, and to the others who have submitted changes.

You all are awesome :}

Can someone please clarify something for me - I have recently returned to EQ2 after a years absence and after noticing my master strikes had vanished came here to find out why ! 1) I see that someone suggests killing grey mobs for L&L drops and auto-updates, does this still work as of today (7/31/07) - I am a 58 wizzy and I thought that grey mobs would not drop quest items anymore ? Please confirm they will still drop L&L items and do the Auto-updates needed. 2) Do I need to mentor down to the l&l quest level before I loot the last item of a set otherwise I won't get the optimum XP or AA ? (I notice todays GU37 makes it auto-update when you loot one of these and not when you examine). I assume this is the case otherwise lvl70's could get easy AA by doing all the L&L quests on grey mobs ? thanks in advance

The minimum level listed for some of those quests need to be adjusted. For example, the Harpy Legend & Lore is listed as minimum level 50, but my level 49 Conjuror has it completed. Similarly, the Naga & Djinn L&L quests are not minimum level 50+, as my Conjy has both of them completed up to the auto-updates.

The Werewolf L&L can be acquired in Darklight Woods by anyone with Stealth or Invis, as none of the mobs see thru it. You might have to be 10+ to get it, but it's not 65+ any more. Note that Darklight Wood is now a very good place to finish the Werewolf & Drakota L&L quests, as there are lots of both, all level ~13-15ish or so. The body part drops, however, are as painfully rare as they are anywhere else

I very much wish the Zombie book would be placed somewhere other than Fallen Gate, & that the Ghost & Faerie books could be acquired other than in Nek Castle. But, alas

I have just completed the D'Morte Bloodline quest series and can confirm that on completing the 11 quests in the series, you do receive the Mastery strike for Vampires. This of course is quite different from the usual L&L books, but now gives me all 34 creatures in my Mastery strike ability. Worth knowing how to get it, I think.

At the starting area in Darklight are heaps of rapid spawn little rock monsters - they are elementals - lvl 1 - 5?. They run around so close together that a single aoe can take out about 6. Just make sure you leave enough for the new Darklighters and you will score your elemental L&L parts in minutes.

The werewolf L&L book in DL lies on the floor of the leftmost hut at the back of the werewolf area iirc. The flying lizards near the vampires do count as drakota as mentioned above.

Forgive my complete lack of spelling on this, and the generality of the information but here is what I remember from a crazy night last night. The Drovlag (I know thats not close, forgive me) L&L is in Karnor Castle under the bed of Commander something-or-other on the second floor. I know its terrible information, but it was the only mob named Commander so someone else can fill in the rest. It is a jewelry box under the head of the bed.

I've almost completed the whole Timerous Deep solo (there is no group!) timeline and have found 0 L&L books. I've attempted to poke my snout into every room, shelf, nook and cranny but have so far found no L&L starters at all. Anyone else found any?For mobs, there are avaiks (look like parrots) all over TD, skeletons in TD/Mok Rent area and there are sirens on the TD/Mok Rent coast line, if anyone needs another source of these.

Yes, total count of kills. I got my hunter of Elementals on my 'lock helping my tank buddys get their Ele L&L. We'd go up to the Forrest Runis (way back when it had ellies) and I'd pull all the groups & hit the non encounter AoEs. Nothing like a 'lock for nice grey homicidal rampage.

You also are more likely to get the L&L tradable pieces if the mobs are greyed out.

Just a quick copy from MMORPG-Info so that the details are here.

Our Lore and Legends Quest reference is completely up-to-date with the addition of the Boarfiends Mastery tome as a part of the Shadows of Odyssey expansion.

The Lore and Legend Mastery tome for Boarfiends can be found deep in the boar caves in the Moors of Ykesha. If you take the balloons from the UJL point to Firmroot Moot, you'll find you pass straight through the Boar Caves and you can jump off at a quiet point. Otherwise, take the balloon from Firmroot to the Boar Caves and make your way through the network of caves to 1585,457,10. None of the Nuknoks en route appear to see through invis so it is a safe and easy trip for high level adventurers. Travel through the caves to the room with Chieftain Puggot where you will see a huge bonfire with a clickable option to search through the embers. Note that doing so will break invisibility but it is quite possible to stand such that none of the surrounding Nuknok's will aggro.

You'll find the Mastery Tome The Least of Brell's Creatures which explains that the creation of the Boarfiends was simply the result of drunken inspiration which would never have seen the light of day, had Bristlebane not intervened on their behalf.

This is the level 70 Lore and Legend quest for boarfiend mastery. There are an abundance of boarfiends in the Moors of Ykesha ranging from mid- to high-70s.

The lowest level boarfiends are the enslaved warboars in Runnyeye Citadel. There are a few ranging from level 32-34 at the initial tunnel and then a few groups of heroic level 34-35 warboars in the room at -85,1,-69. Further heroic savage warboars can be found by wandering the deeper tunnels.

Thanks for the recent updates and the link to the Zam L&L stuff, I will be updating this guide again shortly, to help make it a bit more concise, especially since the lack of the need to examine the book, making it far faster to get the L&L stuff completed.

I will mostly likely sort the guide by the level you can complete each one, starting at level 10 (since before 10 = no AA).
