View Full Version : Question about low level spells vs. higher level spells...
<DIV>Sorry if this has been asked before (the search engine is rather busy atm).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When you receive spells like Admonishing Smite is the lower level spell Smite still useful? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Is it worth upgrading the Smite spell (prayer) once you receive the Admonishing Smite spell? Or just stick with the newer spells?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From what I can tell it seems like you just "throw away" the old spells, which is fine but I was hoping that upgrading spells would make them more useful.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks in advance for any help/info,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thrin</DIV>
The easiest thing is to try it out yourself. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Different levels have varying results. Check the power usage of Smite and ASmite and see how much dmg different. Then choose whether it is worth it to cast. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Although, I don't have the higher Adept versions of Smite for comparison. At this point it appears that the lower level spells aren't worth it. I was curious if a higher level Templar had them both at the same level (i.e. Adept III or higher) and was willing to let me know.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thrin</DIV>
certain spells like Smite vs A.Smite - ASmite's definitely better. Since smite is wayyy old.But we all know that spells like BoV and SP - BoV has higher efficiency at least until SP takesover around level 33+

<DIV>Thanks folks. :smileyvery-happy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So it seems that a fair number of spells are good for the "lifetime" of the character and others are not, such as Smite. At least for Templars.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thrin</DIV>

<DIV>Kind of correct. When you get a new spell you're basically a student of that spell until you max out the associated skill with that spell and until you upgrade the spell. In time the newer spell becomes more useful than the older one (given that they are both of the same level ... say app3). With smites you'll notice a pretty big damage difference when the old spell goes gray and the new spell is yellow/white/blue and you have both spells upgraded to the same level. Same with most other spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Having the older spells out is sometimes a good thing. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The other day I was soloing some Grey's in RoV (finishing up old quests) and I was fighting bats grouped in pairs. I found that when I used the lower level smite as the trigger for HO, it enabled me to have enough power during the fight so I could finish without running out of power. (I was chain nuking and using Celestial Strike to complete the HO)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I used the higher level smite to trigger the HO, I found I ran out of power earlier.</DIV>
