Hope the wiz ones are more inspiring. (Ya sure why not, you are getting new 2000-pt nukes evey day... why not give you combat rez and teleport too, since you're so gimped in utility compared to warlocks). My current estimate is that if these chnages go live, 50%+ of current warlocks will quit playing within 2 weeks. You wizzies will pwn the empty landscape.

You say that 50% of the warlocks would quit in 2 weeks? Why? wizards were way behind warlocks for 10 months in DMG and you giving up in 2 weeks? everything gets fixed. Just needs some time. Back in maybe march or so, there were 3 times as many wiz's as warlocks playing. Look at the rosters of the raiding guilds now, there are about equal numbers. This is because the great majority of those wizzies from March have quit in disgust. Now it's the warlocks ' turn

In any case, what you fail to realise is what goes around comes around. This is the second time now that SOE has massively boosted one of the sorcerer classes and broken the other, and sooner or later SOE will do the same thing again and the roles will be reversed. We should be aiming for parity between the two classes, not an endless cycle of having one of the two classes broken. Enjoy it while it lasts, because I guarantee you, it won't last forever.

Message Edited by Magiocracy on 08-23-2005 09:14 AM

Message Edited by Magiocracy on 08-23-2005 10:16 AM

we get another big nuke at lvl 50 thats on a diff timer from ice comet and most of our other spells are upgraded also.

we will definatly have and upper hand in the single target encounters but will still be behind in the group encounters. the whining from the warlock camp is that the dps difference will be so huge and they (even though they will still be on top or very close to the top of the dps food chain) will be [Removed for Content] now.

bottom line: wizards are where wizards suppose to be. on par with overall warlock damage. there will always be certain encounters that favor one class over the other and some of the more emotional players will come in the boards to whine and complain how one class is far superior to the other.

Also we have to remember that wizards (pre-revamp) went from level 37 to level 50 without really getting any DD spells. We got Ball of Flames at level 37 and at 38 we got immolation. But until level 50 we did not get another DD spell that did any real damage.

Some of our spells have changed - Paralize (44) use to do no damage

Flamestrike (43) before revamp did at max of around 150 damage

Basically what I am saying is before the revamp we did not have a lot of high level DD spells. Now, with the revamp, that has been improved upon. I actually enjoy my wizard very much the way it is except for the raid mob resists. But, I look forward to trying out the new spells and actually having a use for some of those useless spells we got, put on our toolbar for a couple of days, and then later said "why do I have this spell on my toolbar it sucks and I never use it **cough, cough** protoflame"

My two cents...

P.S. I also agree with what Magicracy, Deathspell and Salbluee said. It is nice that we are getting a boost but I think if you checked with most wizards (ingnore the idiots) we were hoping that if we did get a boost it would not come at the detriment of warlocks.

Message Edited by stepha72 on 08-23-2005 01:59 PM

Wizards badly need an upgrade and it does appear you've gotton it. But it's exactly because Wizards have spent 10 months or so waiting to get the dps they should have had in the first place that you should understand that Warlocks aren't particularly happy at the prospect of waiting 10 months after this revamp before SOE get around to fixing our now inferior dps.

This makes no sense and SOE does not get it.

Warlocks are not supposed to be only AE specialists...they should also be experts in dd but poison based while wizards are elemental based.

This is so ridiculous already.
Pretty agree to Lady upstair, I choose wizards over warlock when starting is not bcos I know 1 is dd master, 1 is aoe master. It is bcos wizzy and warlock concentrate on diff damage based spells, and I would like to be more "positive", so I choose wizzy over warlock. I think even the handbook, guidebook all didnt mention warlock will be aoe master at all, and no one tell me wizzy will be only dd master and their spells will get greatly "resist, immune" in raid at all !!

However, I guess right now, those devs have a mind set that force every class fall into a "specific" role from dev's mind, I guess we only can adapt it

Seriously, flaming aside, I have played both 50 warlock and Wizard. Warlocks have been DD and AOE champs all along. And in raids..... no contest whatsoever, warlocks are almost always top dps. On a ^^ that will die fast, maybe a wizard can beat a warlock, but it would be close even then. And they also use less power, which equates to more dps, because your wizard counterpart is too busy canni while you are still blowing [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] up. And as far as utility goes?? Wizards have an evac, and a elemental buff with a small hp buff. Warlocks can power drain, have a buff to increase out of fight power regen, and a grp power buff.

Perhaps the new 50 nuke is more powerful, but if it is only to offset the immunities in raids, then the class is still pretty [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] [Removed for Content] if you ask me.

As it stands Wizard's raid dps isn't really going to be fixed with one spell, no matter how good, however I can't see how anyone can say that Wizard's non-raid dps hasn't been comprehensively fixed. Saying that Wizards will be [Removed for Content] based on your new spell lineup is almost as silly as Warlocks who denied they were overpowered before this revamp

But as i said in another post a min ago, the game is going to become more then just random button mashing. ALL dps will probably be able to pull hate from a tank now. Do you think that a wizard that cast those 2 spells back to back would live to tell about it? No. Do you think that if you were in a 4+ mob encounter and you cast all your AOE's, do you think you would live through it? Nope.

Until both Wizards and Warlocks have more information on the taunting abilities of tanks post DoF it's difficult to judge exactly how much dps we can safely get away with. But remember Warlocks now have this wonderful new AoE teleport spell where we can now AoE the mobs, then randomly teleport them around while we run away screaming and the MT has a nervous breakdown trying to reaggro the now underwater/in the walls/up in the sky mobs....that'll be real fun

Well, I have an alt as a tank. And let me tell you, the first few times to see that happen.. would be HILAROUS. But, otherwise, it may make use of these goofy spells that alot of classes have now, that slow the grp in aoe. Otherwise, those seem rather useless, short of running for your life, and most tank ones slow the caster too.
