Getting this error constantly. I reinstalled the game 4 times already, have permissions on all access and admin access, completely wiped my remaining eq2 files prior to reinstalling.

Unable to write to f:/program files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/everquest 2/EverQuest2.exe - http://eq2.patch.station.sony.com/p...74ecd060ba21a2. The file may be in use or you may lack the necessary permissions to install.

have you tired a right click and run as administrator on launcher?

If you have e game installed in the \program files directory move it to a directory outside of program files, Windows 7 tends to handle those directories a lot more tighter then a regualr directory

I run the soe games in their own directories structure, run 4 seperate installs of eq2, the directory structure is as follows"

\games

\gamessoe

\gamessoeeq2_1

\gamessoeeq2_2

\gamessoeeq2_3

\gamessoeeq2_4

Yes running as adminstrator in launcher is the first thing I do when I come across this sort of thing. What did the update on tuesday do that caused all of this? I haven't had this problem before the patch.

Unable to write is almost certainly a permissions issue. There are two ways to attack this... either A) Disable UAC (User Account Control) entirely or manually take ownership of your steam/steamapps folder.

If you want to disable UAC - you can do so by going to windows control panel. Type "UAC" in the search box, then click the link "change user account control settings" - then drag the slider all the way down (never notify)

If you want to manually take ownership of the folder, here's a handy guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...y/cc753659.aspx

Last time I had UAC on was about 2 years ago when I built this PC with windows 7...

And I already did manual ownership with a program that does each and every file....that didn't work.

Any chance I can get you to move that folder to a non-protected folder (like the root folder ex. f:everquest2) and see if the error persists when you launch launchpad.exe directly from there?

Yes I did that MANY times, same response, same files ect. Be in either of my HDD's, in My Documents, Steam, or its own independent folder. Yes everything is under my ownership, yes I'm running this game as admin of my OS, hell I even have several .reg files . Please stop beating around the bush, it's getting tiring. I want to play this game, that or I'll find another game to play.

Delete the Everquest2.exe file manually.  You will receive this error when the file is still in use (even a crashed instance of EQII may linger) or if security features on the PC prevent writing to that file.  Which security feature causing this issue may also differ, it could even be active malware or virus protection software.
