found out that the Halfling newbie quest reward was a pair of flowers, like the kind you see scattered around the 'Shire now.  so of course, i just *had* to do something with them.  i did the quest six times over (which would have taken about an hour if i hadn't thoroughly explored all the new Queen's Colony stuff and several subclasses i've been curious about) with six throwaway Halfling alts.  each vase has three of the pairs of flower mounted at different heights and angles to give it that bouqet look.  i'm really pleased with the result!

Those are great looking! I had been experimenting with putting my flowers into a vase, but couldn't get anything as lovely looking. SMILEY I ended up just putting them into the dirt box by the window.  I think I may have to try again with this idea though. :smileywink:

the vase is an "ornate vase", a tier 3 carpenter item.

you can indeed, just like any other no-trade item.  i just kinda plopped them on the floor and then came back with my main to set them all up.

thanks for the compliments people.  an additional detail:  to get this look, i first mounted a pair on flower on top of the lab flask you get from that simple mission where the Barbarian woman fishing in QH has you go take a look at Crater Pond.  then i took that away, and mounted a Halfling drum in the same spot, and mounted the 2nd pair of flowers on top of that.  finally, i took that away and placed the vase, and i was able to place the 3rd pair directly ontop of the vase as the other flowers disquised the point where their stems abruptly end in midair quite nicely.

(^_^)

in exploring the other new newbie race quests, i've been disappointed to find that not all races recieve house items as rewards.  not even close.  :smileysad:

however, i did find a new type of flower, sort a shrub of flowers, available via the High Elf newbie race quest...

unlike the Halfling flowers, this is just a flat texure three times over at various angles, and it doesn't stand up to close scrutiny, so i'm at a bit of a loss as to how to use it effectively.  i might just plant a few around the bases of my tiki statues standing in my planters, tho...  that could work...  i'll have to try it out and see if i like the way the colors look together.  any other ideas?

in the Baubbleshire and Castleview, you'll find mentor npcs for Halflings and High Elves.  start a new character with one of these races and leave the Queen's colony immediately, as you're allowed to do so now.  both of these flower house items are rewards for the very first quests these new npcs give ya.

once you have the item, you switch back over to your main, give the temporary alt Trustee access to whatever home you want to place them in, and then switch back over to the alt and place.  presto!  then you delete the alt and repeat until you have as many for your home as you need.  note that even if you make your alt with the same name each time, you'll still have to remove the old alt from Trustee access and then add the new alt, as the characters are identified within the game by numbers, not just by the their names.  so Trustee access for one won't work for another, same name or not.

What a lovely way to display some beautiful flowers. I really love your creativity Barq Bandit SMILEY

I so wanted to comment on Disha's wonderful eatery (which is AWESOME btw) and couldn't, because for much of last year I was unable to log in successfully.... so I became a lurker lol

Are Disha's pics still up for viewing? I really wanted to show my kids what a fantastic job you did SMILEY

For the high elf Flowers you could put a bunch of them together on top of each other to get rid of the flat look, and creat a kinda bush, though it would take alot of high elf slaves hehe SMILEY

yeppers, except getting to the Woodelf quest and doing the quest itself is much more of a hassle than the quick and easy Halfling method.  only difference is the name of the item.

yeah, i thought about that.  but i'm really, really close to the item limit as it is, and i'm already looking for a couple of things to remove to make room for a couple of new ideas i've had...  argh...
