I believe this refers to a series of tome quests that were available from the society merchant, not the Sages.  They were revised and are now part of the solo content path in the Enchanted Lands.

I need to get my hands on these book quests, even if I have to do a ton of city writs for the mages to access them.

Hmm. Then it must be a different Age of Turmoil.  I did take several tomes set in the Age of Turmoil from the society seller, though.  From the looks of them, no one had actually completed them as yet.  The originals will still be available, but the new versions are solo-able.

When you say society, do you mean a society like the Concordium or one of the tradeskill societies?

When you say "the originals will still be available", do you mean they will still be available for purchase, or that previously purchased copies will still function but they will no longer be available for purchase?

The originals will still be fully functional and will not interfere with someone who is working on those quests from obtaining and completing the second editions.
