We use screenshots to help us locate your submission in a growing database of submissions. We use it to help us get parts of the company excited about an upcoming item and to do first level screening of which items to work on next.

Your screen shot helps "sell" your item. Take a moment and make a good one.

Don't give us a screenshot of your entire desktop. Just focus on the item itself and present it clearly. Don't include anything else or a lot of white space.

Yes, you can put the hair on a head or put the cloak on a character. That part doesn't matter.

I usually just send you all a render of the design from 3D Studio max. That works fine no?

Same here with the Max JPEGs. I try to include multiple angles in said screenshot, but I only send you a 640X480.

Do I need to change anything?

You guys are great.

We did get screen shots today that showed part of the object rendered, part of the object not-yet-rendered, and a lot of tool interface. You don't want it to require an explanation or a close examination to figure out what it is.

Who doesn't?!

The most ideal screenshot is one that's similar to the screenshots included in the example file downloads. They're generally larger (1024 or 1280 I believe) and show a few angles of the item. No effects/touchups/etc - just the item in good form. There are a lot of people submitting a lot of items (which means a lot of shots to see/compare to) and we use the shots to decide which items may move forward more quickly. Think of it as a sales pitch as that's what it really is.

Guess you want more than a 640X480. OK then.

You submit at the main PlayerStudio site.  https://player-studio.soe.com/

If you have not already done so, you can save yourself many headaches by carefully reading all the pages linked from there about the game you wish to submit for *first* -- as in before you do anything else. SMILEY

Then re-examine your artwork (all 3 maps, etc) based on the information in those pages. Think it over, and see if any extra "polishing" is needed before you submit.

When submitting, double-check that your .zip file has exactly what is requested on the submission page. Any variation and it will be flagged as "invalid" (automatic rejection).

Hope that helps. SMILEY

Oh, and as the subject and first post of this thread says, choose wisely how you do your sample screen-shots. That screen-shot is your "sales pitch."  Make it a good one! SMILEY
