Sorry, I don't know how to post screenies...

Invoker: +10 agi, +6 str, proc: essence replenishment

Beguiler: +17 agi, +13 str

Both are VL...

40 assie here... just looted a beguiler and was told it would sell for 6-10p (to brawlers I'm guessing).

Would I be an idiot to attune it? (6-10p is a ton of coin to me, btw)

Thanks for your thoughts,

Stiletto.

I wouldnt be wearing a very light robe just for higher AGI and STR. Due to diminishing returns at later levels it wouldn't make much difference anyway.. you'd just get your *$%#&! kicked a lot due to extremly low mitigation SMILEY (light isnt that much lower than medium, but very light IS SMILEY ) Add to that the Crown of King Trannix and GEBs and you'll soon be mitigating like a mage :smileyvery-happy:

But I would wear the regen robe when grouping without bards or chanters SMILEY

Are you kidding? Appearance is my primary motivation for wanting to wear these robes... /showhood and you'll get the closest thing to a hooded, cloaked assassin. Now, if i can just dye em darker SMILEY  (BTW, beguiler robes are not the disco neon colors on other wizzie robes.  Nicely textured, but white SMILEY

Anyway, to get back on topic... My current armor is a full set of enchanted thicket armor from EL... nothing but STR, AGI, STA on the stats... only problem is that it's Light...  I only group with tanks that I know (higher lvl also) so I don't take too many hits SMILEY

Thanks for your input Rat... I think I'll take that advice SMILEY

If you aren't taking hits then invoker robe > all.   I have a bp from venekor but most of the time I end up wearing invoker robe solely for the in combat power regen.  For whatever reason only certain pieces of armor get in combat regen and I haven't seen any medium that has this.  So to me invoker robe is a pretty worthwhile piece of equipment and it really doesn't look that bad in fact its far better looking than the chain and gives +power in combat which is the most important part.

Power regen > all. if your getting hit on a raid most likely your tank is dead, or you pulled agro and are soon gonig to die. Just to be on topic I would gladly drop my ebon chest for that robe. But i have seen very nice medium armor master chest, chest pieces. And im not totally sure how many people you are going to find with 10p lieing around that would want to buy it.

I pity you. Assassin wearing a Mage type robe? Might as well have spaceships in the game. Might as well have Guardians wear a tu tu. Might as well have Monks cast nukes. This is not a MMoG. It's more like a sad fashion show. I would never ever wear a robe and be called an Assassin. The Invoker robe is a mistake in game and should be nerfed or erased. I still people *$%#&!in about the robe on probably the longest thread I ever seen.

Can we make this a "legit" MMoG and not a sham? Plate armor to Tanks? Chain to Scouts? Robes to mages?  /rant off

Go ahead and slam me. I'm use to it. Just my 2 cents.

Just because I wanted to get in on this conversation... Why would an assassin wear chain armor in the first place?  Kinda hard to sneak up and slit an enemy's throat when they can hear you enter the room, isn't it?  I would think that Light Armor (I have to agree that a bath robe isn't ideal either) would be the assassin's choice.  Perhaps a nice, non-squeaky set of leather armor? Just thought I'd throw that out there since "realism" was brought up :smileytongue:

Exactly, Naug. An assassin sneaking through dark alleys wearing 100 lb of heavy, noisy chain swooshing around... That's your idea of a "legit" assassin, Thanatos? Robes and gowns are much more realistic, IMO. You don't want to *look* like an assassin, do you? Just another commoner passing by... whoosh SMILEY  Been a long time but I think AD&D used leather armor for scouts, which works also. Correct me if I'm wrong (Discovery channel memories are a little rusty), but no one actually fought using plate armor during medieval times... warriors mostly used chain... and archers & scouts wore paper lol.

Are we trying to insert realism into a fantasy game?

OK, my chain is made from Feyiron which everyone knows has sound deadening qualities. A feyiron helmet has to be removed before speaking because otherwise you have to shout to be heard farther than 5 feet away.

And feyiron is as light as cloth when worn.

FeySTEEL actually has negative weight and you have to wear 5 or 6 bags as you walk around that are full of food, rocks, berries and other various trinkets or you'll float away.

Or was your realism just talking about the armor/robe decisions and not 6 bags tossed over your shoulders?

Ok. I can agree on leather armor. But not Robes. Assassins do not wear robes. Mages do. In the context of "this" game (Lets focus Xayla and everyone else), Scouts wear medium armor. Do not blame me for this, blame the Devs. You have the ability to wear Light armor (which is leather btw). So instead of giving me of a "legit" assassin, why don't you just wear Light Armor?

Well personally I kinda like the look of robes.  The chain armor we can all agree looks like crud.  Then on top of that as a raider I often run into power problems with clarity/insight and my prismatic on.  so the option is use a clarity potion for a quick boost to power or keep the invoker robe on for +20 power per tick.  Whether you like robes or not you can't deny that in power combat regen is a key to overall dps in long fights which makes the robe a very powerful item to obtain.

This comment is getting REALLY old. Shut the hell up. Yes, the game is realistic. Otherwise we'd play as flying candy trucks raiding asphalt daisies and eating rubber cellphones instead of meat. *$%#&!.. how the hell is chainmail silent?

I agree with Khalysta on this topic.   First off,   assassins don't stick to one type of armor.    They would use whatever the job required at the time to best suit there purposes in order to accomplish the job at hand.

I'd like to make put some myths about chainmail to rest here as well.   Alot of you are making comments about how noisy chainmail armor is and that simply isn't true.   Yes,   chainmail is heavy medium metal armor,   but lets debunk the stero types.

Chainmail is constructed of small interlocking metal circular rings,  in a 4 to 1 ratio.   Which means,  each ring is conected to 4 other rings.   This makes the armor extremely flexible.  The Smaller the gauge of the metal rings,  the quiter the mail was.  So the armor doesn't squeak or make loud clanking noises when you walk as does plate mail made out of full sheets.   Now,   people didn't just wear chainmail over their body.   They'd cut the heck out of themselves,   so  they would wear the mail over padded armor.   Thus making the mail even quiter.    Then they would usually wear another shirt over the chain mail vest to hold it in place.    With all these factors you can see how quiet chain mail becomes rather quickly.    If you truely wanted to be extremely quiet,   all one needed to do,  is oil the chainmail.   Which assassins and rouges of the day did just that when they wanted to go sneaking about.    Just think of a oiled bicycle chain and you can see how silent it can become.

Moving from reality to fantasy.   There are very legendary forms of chain mail armor.  Chain mail is the prefered armor worn by just about every elf in the fantasy world,  especially rangers.   Elven chain mail is so finely crafted that it is quieter then the finest silk robes money can buy.   Going even one step up,  Dwarven mythrial chain mail is so legendary even mice want to get their hands on it.   To give a couple well known examples,   Drizzt from the R.A. Salvator novels wears Dwarven mythrial chain mail.  IF your not into reading great fantsay novels,   i'm sure the millions of you that watched The lord of the Rings are fimiliar  with the White Dwarven mythrial chainmail shirt Froto recieved from his unlce bilbo.  So you see with just those two examples alone you can see how silent chainmail can be.

Anywho,   Khalysta is right.     Robes arn't just for mages or casters.     Rove of the invoker provides you with far better advantages then the minor disadvantage.   It's simple really,    You wear the armor that gives you the best stats,  the best advantages,   the best power regen,   no matter what it's made of.    If a magical set of cloth armor gives me higher stats,   better protection,   faster power regen,   then a normal set of plate mail,   guess what i'm gonna wear..

As always,   education is knowledge,   and knowledge is power..

I've made many comments on the Invoker robe and I still think the robe should be nerfed or removed. I do not think SoE intended on making this robe usable for all classes.

As for the looks of "chain", I agree it looks pretty bad (Again blame the Devs for the lack of skill in making chain armor). However, it appears everyone want to look like a Mage. I expect to see whole guilds (And I do see many people wearing the robe) wearing the Invoker robe just for the power regen. We might as well just throw away all armor classes and just keep very light armor.

It is a sad sight to see Pallys, SKs, Assassins, Brigands, Rangers, Swashbucklers, Dirges, Berserkers, and so forth still camping that pathetic rock for the Invoker robe. I see it everytime I go through Feerrott. God bless evercamp. :smileywink:

The robe itself doesnt need nerfed its the itemization that needs to be altered.  Scouts need power and predators especially use a lot of it but don't have the built in abilities to regain power.  So we have to rely on items that give +power in combat.  They are few and far between so far and of the ones that are useable they are mainly very light armor while medium armor gived +hp regen.  No matter what sony says in a raid situation we are not tanks so all this medium armor with hp regen is ok for aes but in general those encounters require heavy healing anyways.  So the better solution isnt to nerf the invoker robe its to give classes which rely heavily on power more options in their armor type rather than just having most of it be very light armor based.

I disagree. The Invoker robe imbalances the game across the board. Not only can any class use, but whole raids are using this robe. Epic encounters are becoming much easier now that raids can acquire power much faster than anticpated. SoE is STILL increasing Epic mobs abilities in order to combat this item. Raid should not be able to regen power that fast. It is a huge advantage to the "elite" guild who have it and a serious disadvantage to guilds that don't.

The rock was a mistake and even the Devs admitted to it. Many people abused the rock flaw and now everyone has to pay for it. Personally, the robe should be a ultra rare drop of a Epic mob above 45. Otherwise, just remove the robe completely.

Invoker robe is just one of many +power regen items in combat.  Efreeti boots are easy to obtain, prismatics really arent that hard to obtain with a motivated guild, and there are a few other items from various raids that you can get.  So to say this makes raids easier is true but its not the root of why raids were so easy to begin with and that is why a lot of the combat changes we are seeing are brought about.

I agree there are other +power regen items. It makes sense to nerf the Invoker robe even more with these types of items in game.

As far as the root, the robe is a major problem (or in this case an advantage). 1) Any class can use. 2) It gives many people in a raid scenario a serious power regen boost (and that means all classes). 3) Only the "elite" guilds have the robe as part of their inventory thus giving them a major boost over other competing guilds. 4) It just looks sad to see a guild in all Invoker robes when preparing for an Epic Mob (Not a problem, but just sad to look at).

I can go on and on. I suggest looking outside the box.

We might as well just throw away all armor classes and just keep very light armor. Everyone doesn't want to look like a mage. Wearing a robe does not make a scout a mage. Your finger waving makes you a mage, Scouts don't finger wave, We stab things and steal their stuff. If you see someone with the invoker robe who is not holding a weapon chances are they are a mage. if you see someone Also in the robe holding 2 weapons or 1 weapon and a shield chances are its not a mage. Seeing many people wearing the robe Does not equal Entire guilds wearing this robe, and i would personally like to see an entire 24 person raid group Wearing this robe. Those that HAVE the robe and are raiding should be wearing it if they aren't planning on being hit because as you said, Perople wear this robe because of MANA REGEN.

I don't think you will find a Guardian/Shadowknight/Berzerker/Paladin tanking while wearing the robe of the invoker. So they will need their Heavy armors after all. Not all Medium armor wearers are lucky enough to have one of these robes. so gee i think they should Have their medium armor too. Same goes for light armor wearers too. Contrary to your common belief this isn't the only piece of armor people wear at level 50.

By the sounds of all your posts i would seem you are suffering from some kind of "invoker robe denial" There are Plenty of other items that Have poer regeneration on them (GEB, Ring of the Nightblood, Prismatics to name a few) are you suggesting they all be nerfed as well?

Please go troll somewhere else. Look what you turned a simple question about some robes into.

Constructive argument? All you have posted is 3 different versions of "nerf this robe it gives people power" mixed in with some "im the only one who should look cool in robes" The robe of the invoker is not making raiding Game-Breakingly easier. and all the other mana regen items aren't exactly imposible to get either except for your prismatics. Robes in general should not be a mage only thing. Some have said they look cool and assassiny, Others like their stats.

Are you reading the same thread? If so, please let me know.
If you are reading the same thread as I am, then you can see that I am replying to comments made about the robe.

Care to explain why? Please enlighten me on your comment. I doubt you can refute my earlier statement.

That is your opinion. I just don't like seeing a medium armor class wearing Mage robes in a MMoG. In fact, I hate seeing the robe on Pallys and SKs for that matter. And Zerkers. And every scout class.

Umm. As far as I know the robe is from a rare quest drop.

You don't have to be elite to get it at all... you just need to put the time in camping it.

All your crying is making you look like a spoiled kid that goes crying to mommy when they don't have the best toy.

Instead of being lazy... put the time in and camp one for yourself instead of crying to get it nerfed. :smileyindifferent:

FYI I don't have the robe either.

Ring of the nightblood - Kill a raid mob nightblood Screaming mace - Kill a named get a group for its quest Polished granite tommahawk - Solo quest (if your high enough) except for the last mob Prismatics - Raid guild Golded Efreti boots - Heritage quets pretty simple to finish compared to sitting in a spot for days on end wairing for a rock to spawn i would say some of these are about the same "dificulty" and  if you are only wearing the invoker robe (i wear my GEB's on raids, and have my PGT handy) the 20 power per tick isnt godly, it helps yes but 20 power in combat per tick is barely a combat art for a scout, its about half of a lingering blow to be exact. Care to explain how 1 item thats now pretty *$%#&! hard to aquire is breaking this game so completly? while saying that every single other power regeneration item in the game is ok?

1) Where did I say I wanted this robe? Which post? If I did, then can you please quote me?

2) A rare quest drop? Umm... I know the quest and how rare it is.

3) I am "guessing" you do not know the whole story behind the robe and how it became ultra rare due to exploiters (The "elite" people you see running around the game now). You can thank them for making the robe almost impossible to get now.

4) Crying? I have no comment on that since I have made no reference in wanting the ugly purple robe. See #1 for more details

5) again. I don't have the robe as well and have no care for it.

Bottom line: I am just presenting facts about an item that is unbalancing the game. Feel free to argue my comment and keep the personal bashing to a minimal.  Thanks:smileyhappy:

Golded Efreti boots - Heritage quets pretty simple to finish

compared to sitting in a spot for days on end wairing for a rock to spawn i would say some of these are about the same "dificulty" and  if you are only wearing the invoker robe (i wear my GEB's on raids, and have my PGT handy) the 20 power per tick isnt godly, it helps yes but 20 power in combat per tick is barely a combat art for a scout, its about half of a lingering blow to be exact.

Care to explain how 1 item thats now pretty *$%#&! hard to aquire is breaking this game so completly? while saying that every single other power regeneration item in the game is ok?

I have no complaints about the above mentioned items. They are hard quested items and have been implemented correctly. All items are in line with the classes. Example: only certain classes can use the PGT (Like no monks or brusiers). Same with mace. GEBs is a heritage item that can be only acquired by higher levels/guilds.

The Invoker robe is not a in line item. It was exploited from the beginning thus griefing every player in the game who did not manage to loot the rock. All elite guilds (Most players are 50 by now) have a serious edge with the robe in all epic encounters. Most guilds still rising will never have this edge. As for the +20 regen tick, it is a huge advantage in any Epic encounter. I am too lazy to do the math, but I think we can all agree the advantage is big.

My suggestion is to see it from my viewpoint or someone who is just started playing EQ2.
