Here are the April Update Plans for EverQuest II!

The Skyshrine update (GU 63) is taking the lion’s share of the team’s focus right now (launching in mid-April), but other things are still happening as we continue to smash bugs, improve systems, and look to the future of EQII!

The team is busy reviewing GU 63 feedback and making tweaks, fixing bugs, and still adding new goodies to the content – and there is a LOT of it – one of the biggest ever done on EQII! I want to say a big “Thank You” to the community too. We’re very grateful for the support and constructive feedback we’ve been getting on the Test Copy server and forums and ask that you not stop now! During this month we’ll be doing interviews and giving detail on what is being added to this monstrous update because there is plenty to say. The more we see the final touches the team is doing, the more excited we all get!

Holly “Windstalker” Longdale

Destiny of Velious and More While the game update continues the Destiny of Velious story, we want to make it clear that there are also additions that support other features released in Age of Discovery expansion, like tradeskill apprentices, new Dungeon Maker map and decorations, new creatures for Beastlords to tame, and a new elite mercenary. In case it hasn’t been said enough, we are going live with this exciting update on April 17.

Test for the Best We are thrilled at the participation we have seen on Test Copy and the feedback has been great. The team reviews the content, feedback databases, and forums daily. We encourage everyone to participate and contribute! Please check out the In Testing forums for instructions on how to copy your character and access Test Copy as well as zone access and testing baubles to set you on your way!

Bristlebane Celebrations Begin! It’s time for mischief, pranks and fun in honor of the King of Thieves, Fizzlethorpe Bristlebane! Starting at the end of March and kicking off at full steam on April 1 - 12, tricksters of all shapes and sizes can enjoy the return of the holiday with new features added this year, including a contest in Enchanted Lands, new tradeskill recipes, and more!

Limited Time Bristlebane Marketplace items! Just in time for the Trickster’s holiday, we have a couple of items on the Marketplace that will be around for a short time starting April 1. The King of Thieves’ childhood friend and mount has been revealed and in honor of pranksters everywhere, and a Jester costume is available. Get them while you can as they will not be offered after April 12.

Spring Fever Over the Easter holiday, we will have some fun Spring items for sale in the marketplace as well as some pretty big SOE holiday promotions. Everyone will get to enjoy double experience over the weekend too!

Qeynos City Festival This month, the Far Seas Trading Company is headed to Qeynos! The city festival kicks off on April 1-7.

Behind the Scenes While the Game Update content itself is pretty obvious, the team is also making some exciting changes to the game code and making improvements. Pathing was one of those changes, and we’re always working to fix bugs and improve the game. As we said some time ago, in addition to game update features, our engineers, artists, and designers continue to fix Live issues and bugs – even some pretty old ones! And at the same time as all this, we are planning well into the future for EQII with plenty of lore, concept, and feature meetings. It’s a great time for EQII!

Maybe for the April update plans we could include the actual items from March that were not updated... I at least HOPE they are carried over even if they are no longer important enough to take the vitural space, maybe beneath the fold as it's not really something you want to be acknowldeged... but we're not dumb.  So, two out of the three items planed for the Match update were completed, not counting city fests, moonlight enchants, Brew Day, or Portals since those are all recurring (a new word) events.

DOV Dungeon Timers Reduced to 90 Minutes!Get prepared for the next Game Update and gear up in Destiny of Velious group dungeons -- timers are being reduced from 18 hours to 90 minutes! (Scheduled to launch in 18 days)

New Pathing CodeIn exciting code news, new pathing is on Test right now and we're hoping to bring that to Live when it has passed rigorous testing. For those who don’t know, “pathing” is what the monsters and pets use to travel from points A to B in our game.

Bye-bye Crit MitThe Critical Mitigation stat removal change that is on Test will be going to live servers this month. This does not apply to the PVP Critical Mitigation stat.

Any chance we could get a FEW items without having to pay for them ?

Every single new item you guys add to the game is headed straight to the marketplace.

When does it end?

I really hope the update is free because im not paying a sub for developers to add items only to the market place every week. Then i have to spend even more money for items not available in the game.

I know theres content in this update and am glad to see that my money has gone somewhere besides items.

Im surely not paying for it though after the 50 bucks i forked out for this last one.

The way you guys state this everytime a new item comes out sounds like were all thrilled to look in the marketplace LOL

Look in the market place for this new jester outfit and mount!

Should be , Weve added a new mount questline with a story and some lore , theres even a jester outfit to be found.

I dont look foward to anything that goes in there , i look foward to my sub money going towards content and in game items.<<<<< wich ive seen none of yet since the free to play merger.

Im tired of having to pay for every single new item you come out with its getting old and fast!

Sure im not the only one .

I dont care that theres a marketplace for those who would rather just pay for stuff but geez , put some in the game also for those of us that actually enjoy a good quest or boss to kill.

My opinion...

How can we trust that the April updates are going to take place if all the March updates didn't take place. Are we even going to see everything that you promised? It seems that you rely so much on the "community" but don't really help us nor support us. You give us false promises to updates and then either don't do something that you say you are going to do, or either push back the date.

Shouldn't have GU63 be fully developed before it goes to test? It seems like you push a half built product out to test, and then wait to adhac the rest as you go. Even Microsoft isn't this bad about deploying a product. You promote GU63 like it is the best thing that SOE has ever done, but yet I feel like you have enough time to come up with more content then we are being provided. My personal vote on GU63 will be... Failure, not sucess.

I very much agree.  The near-exclusive focus on the Smed's Magical Marketplace is one of the main reasons (that, and my father's failing health -- I want to spend more time w/ my family) that I've finally cancelled my remaining EQ2 account, after almost eight years.  At one time, my wife and I had five Station Access accounts.  Now, we have zero SOE subs, all because of the marketplace.  SOE will likely never get another penny from us.

In a wrap the update is IMO (yours may vary).

Cha Ching SSSMedbucks = 4 updates worth of fluff.

Meh = 2 Mercanary and some seasonal holidy stuff.

Bleh = 2 DF/Fluffy decorations.

Yay/Ok = 3 Tradeskillers and Beastlords

Winners: TS/BST - pathing improvements.

Losers: Nagafen - we rate lower than Smedbucks, fluff, new elite mercs, and the seasonal code they only have to turn on once a year.  WTB PVP gear worth using in a pvp/e enviornment.

It's not an expansion, it's an update.

But you will need either Velious or AoD to get access to the content.

Having Velious allows access to certain content and having AoD allows you access to other content.

If you already own them you don't have to pay anything.

Scroll down until you see the "New Craftables this Year". Those are added for zero SC cost to the Bristlebane celebration. If you scroll further, you'll also see new rewards added for quests.

http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/a...tr=080000000000

Scroll down to "Brewday Acoutrements to Craft III". Those were added for zero SC cost to March's Brewday celebration. Scroll a bit further and you'll see the new quest rewards which also cost zero SC.

I could go on, but this makes the point.

Yes, at times it seems there is a lot added to the Marketplace that costs us SC to obtain or even that "all the good stuff" goes there. Some of that perception is because there are at least three items added to the Marketplace each week and now the announcements about Marketplace stuff have become even more prevalent than they were in the past. BUT, there are more than a 'few' items being added to the game FOR FREE (not even counting anything from GU63) as well. Non-Marketplace items usually get added in chunks and not with the same frequency as the Marketplace stuff, but that doesn't mean they aren't being added.

As a side note, I, too, get annoyed and tired of the perception that everything and/or all the "good stuff" is being added to the Marketplace. I have a 90 tailor and I would love love love to be able to craft appearance stuff with my tailor (i.e. not artisan sub-10 recipes) that me and other players would actually want. I have a 90 alchemist and am very very tired of alchemy being the one craft with no attention and, other than fighter experts, nothing to make that anyone actually wants. I have a 90 carpenter, too, and.. well.. carpies have gotten the most attention of all the crafts and they do have a wealth of recipes, now, that rival the Marketplace stuff and can make far far far more items than are sold and keep getting more items added to their recipe books (building blocks recently.. those, too, should count in the "any chance we could get a 'few' items..." counter-arguement).

what's going to annoy me is they took away the meatbeast as a warder, but I'll bet dollars to doughnuts the new useless ground mount is going to be a meatbeast. and it'll cost 20 dollars to get it.

Lol I just fell of the chair when I read this the Templar feedback thread has already hit 13 pages on the new "enhancemant" lines aka prestige aa.  We have more feedback than all the other healer feedback threads combined and not one response...but they have with other healer feedback threads go figure.

Well, yes I think so SMILEY Which is relative, I know, but there IS a free mount given via a quest, which was more my point.

Well thanks for that insight , at least a few things were added.

I hope i didnt sound like a mad man in my post but this is the way it looks from my point of view after 5 years of playing.

Regarding the item revamp , it needs some attention now! after i recieved lvl 20 gear from stonebrunt quests i just skipped the whole zone .

Yeah, right. This is the 5th "new pathing code" announcement since late summer, unless I missed one.  There are some hilarious youtube videos of previous tries.    It wasn't broken in the first place.   Now it is.

Lol I just fell of the chair when I read this the Templar feedback thread has already hit 13 pages on the new "enhancemant" lines aka prestige aa.  We have more feedback than all the other healer feedback threads combined and not one response...but they have with other healer feedback threads go figure.

I certainly appreciate the slew of developer responses on Fury prestige...

Any chance we could see some preview pictures?

I can show you my look since frostfell when I was able to complete my look with the purple swords next to their "new" sale item...

Look familiar?

Not really that close, though the final effect is the same.  It is your purple skin that helps the outfits seem a bit similar.

I would get a jester outfit, but we are low on funds right now, so can only afford getting one of the fun mounts.  This ends before mid-month, so many who might have spent more with their mid month paycheck won't be able to.  Rent usually comes due at the beginning of a month, so it is a mid-month check that is often used for fun stuff.

Too bad they did not have this run 5 days longer, we would have bought more, but ah well.  Saved us some money, eh?  SMILEY

Will the April expansion be free, or do we have to pay for it?

Game Update 63 is not an expansion, it's a Game Update. It's free (although its features may require DoV or AoD).
