Tranquil Sea Overland Quests - Feedback and Bugs

Hi all, and welcome to the Altar of Malice Beta!

This is the thread for any and all feedback regarding the overland quests in the Tranquil Seas. At this time, we're primarily looking for functionality issues - quests not updating correctly, gating issues, grouping issues, missing NPCs, typos... that sort of thing. We still have polish passes pending and rewards for these quests have not been finalized yet, so we're not quite ready for feedback on that side of the fence. I'll update the thread and let everyone know when we are though!

As always, we very much appreciate your participation!

Repairing the Records - I can see the recipe being scribed, but is not in recipe book, so can not advance the quest. Also I have 10 notes but the quest calls for 5?

when you get the spider bear the map highlights the wrong area to go to send you across the zone when it actually on the same isle at waypoint 935,12,-1009

ROIs are not quite ready yet. Any that you see will likely be incorrect. But they are on their way.

Just received a lizardman claw from a Lost Webhunter spiderbear, not sure if that is intended or not, but seems odd.

Not able to do Repairing the Records. Deleted quest a couple of times to try and reset to get it to work. On last attempt, trashed the 10 damaged notes, and not able to get them again.

Have looked around for other NPCs with quests, but not finding anything or anyone, just empty potential quest hubs.

Quest: Research and Recovery...

After harvesting all the papers on the ground and zoning into the basement, the bookcase is clickable, but does not update my quest, or give any other type of feedback.

Suggestion on harvesting the pages: spawn more, and more quickly... otherwise make it so that players only see what they alone can harvest..

Quest: Stretched Reality...

Got the three clicky updates, but for the fourth update where you use the little hammer looking clicky in the quest window on the far seas members around the tower, it's not giving the update when used on the mobs.

Needed a call to get to the top of the 'bubble' for Stretched Reality - it is pretty much impossible for small toons to get up there on their own. Stuck on the basement part of Research and Recovery - the bookcase is clickable but nothing actually updates it.

If you're looking to do the overland quests, you'll need to start the sig line, which starts in either Qeynos Province District or Freeport, depending on faction.

I am doing the quest Build a New Future (part of the Sig quest line) and it requires gathering 10 lumber, 10 masonry, and 10 scavanger parts (which have lumber graphcis btw). There were a lot of lumber and masonry items around to gather, but the scavanger parts are only available 1 at a time. I gather it, and have to wait for a respawn and then run around and find where it respawned at. Rinse and repeat. It is taking a very long time to gather the 10 scavanger parts because of this. I don't know if others have / are having the same problem, or if it's just my quest for some reason, but it's very time consuming and aggravating. Frown

In the past 45min I've gotten 3/10 intact research papers for Research and Recovery. They've either stopped spawning, or the spawn timer on them is way too low.
EDIT: I've found the stash of research papers, located on the varying broken levels of the towers. Problem, as a Fae, the ONLY way I have a chance at getting to them is to run out to the world bell, fly up high enough so that I can feather fall and hope I aim right to land on one of the broken tower pieces.
Not kewl.........

Also, located the 2 purple 'sparkly' locations on the fingers for Stretched reality, and got the one on the floor level of the tower, but am lost to find the 4th. Twisted crew members do nothing, and the twisted pygmy's are tagged as not twisted.

Repairing the records:

I'm doing the overland and tradeskill quests simultaneously. I have the damaged records, and the chat box shows me receiving 1 [Restoration of Damaged Scrolls]. This item does not actually have a recipe, and on examine, it says I have already scribed it, even though there is no recipe attached, just a picture of the scroll. No such recipe shows in my book (no hidden recipes either). The quest cannot advance from here.

From what I can tell (and from flying in giant circles) I have what "can" be completed at this time in Tranquil Sea, around 21 quests, with remaining in their journal:
Repairing the Records: (I'm sure you've heard this by now) The recipe does not go in our knowledge and we can't complete the quest due to this.
Stretched Reality: The last reading is in an almost impossible place to get to. Once this is complete (I may have gone too far in another part so others may not have this) Assistant Shortspanner will not talk to me.
Research and Recovery: Bookshelf in the basement can be used but does nothing.
Other than this the only really annoying bug I've seen is Aillena seems to exist sometimes in 4 different places depending on what quests you are on and only one of her will work to turn in a specific quest.

Thanks for all the great work, the zone looks beautiful and I'm looking forward to finishing these quests!

Stretched Reality and Research and Recovery both should be in much better states next build. Aillena should only be in one place at any given time - if you're seeing more than one of her I'll have to take a look at your character to see your quest progression. To that end, if you could PM me your character name, I can take a look at it!

Some of these are repeats from the above but here are my notes from tonight's testing:

The wavey graphical effect around the tower is cool and all but for some of us it's headache inducing, as in I now have a migraine. There needs to be a way to turn that off.
Killed several Twisted Homonids for a quest and got Lizardman Lore & Legend drops. I'm assuming the loot tables aren't ready yet.
Stretched Reality:
1. As soon as you take the quest pretty much everything in the zone gets the "bag" marker but using the quest item either does nothing, gives you a "Not an Enemy" message or a "not a twisted creature" message even though the name says twisted or fires off the spell but only aggro's the mob and doesn't update the quest.
2. The 4th spot to take a reading from is impossible to get to, especially if you're a small race. Unless you intended it to be a jumping puzzle in which case let me just say BAD IDEA! If you want to put a jumping puzzle in don't make them a required part of a signature quest line since there are many of us that HATE them and refuse to do any quest that requires them. The gnome did say he was doing something that would let me fly but if he did it's not working and I can't find anything in my inventory that will allow me to fly in that area.
Research & Recovery:
1. Only about 3 spawn points for the pages needed around the tower. The rest seem to be at the top of the tower so see point #2 above.
For the quest that wants us to scavenge parts I've only found 1 spawn point for the part and it's pretty slow to respawn.
The lighting seems to be flaky at times. I go from really dark to bright daylight just by turning around. Not sure if that's something about being close to the tower or just my graphics card or what.
Others were reporting that the first gateway that you go through where the banker and such are was appearing as a black hole. I could see through it fine but I had multiple people ask me if it was black for me as well.

Running for Safety:

This quest is basically escort the three NPC's to the northeast island. There is a blue ROI, but no clue if that's accurate. I couldn't find the correct spot to update the quest, and the server has been kicking me off with horrible packet loss randomly (5 or so times so far). When I got back in, the NPC's I am to escort are gone, and they are not back in the spot where I started with them. I have no way to advance this quest yet.

Instead of making my own post, I am going to steal Sisca's. And on point #1, yes, yes, and yes. I had to quit and go back later, as I had developed an enormous headache.

Lead the NPC's through the first gateway on the starting island. The blue ROI is incorrect.

i see quite a bit of quest stuff spawning way up on top the reality bubble rather then on the ground around the tower.

Run down on issues tonight besides existing bugs that I have been informed are being addressed.

Lot of CDT and disconnects (22 total disconnects and 14 CDTs.)

Got booted during the ceremony and quest was gone out of journal. Still returned to elder got disconnected after updating even though it was no longer in journal but got no exp. For lost son was disconnected after speaking to him and again lost out of journal. Returned to the mother and updated but again got no exp or continuation because I got disconnected in the middle of the conversation and can’t get it back. For collecting the plants was also not completed since all adventure quests I had for the new zone were now gone out of the journal.

Over all not really impressed with dodging that level 106 ^^^ mobs but I guess that is part of the game although it does keep you on your toes.

Other things.

With all the CDTs I Tried to go to DC got booted out saying not available. Continuing on could not loot anything. Kept saying to busy to loot. Had to log out and back in. Tried to go to EW and got stuck in mid air with same issues as DC.

Called it a day there.

I found 3 quests in the area of the qeynos province district on the docks. One sent me to the new lands, one wants me to talk to the queen which I did and she didn't want anything, and another called In search of the Feerrott. Which one are you speaking of.

I was on the ones that sent me to the new lands, I got as far as the quest wanting me to restore damaged notes "Repairing the Records". I received no spell from the npc and have no broken notes, therefore can not continue that particular questline.

My Question is am I missing something here? Where is it I should be questing and if this is not the signature quest which particular quest is the "overland signature quests" Thanks in advance!

Click the ceiling right over the ladder. The ladder itself isn't clicky, you have to find the door.

Further along the quest line, got a few updates for Stretched Reality and Research and Recovery, but am stuck unable to find more. Also all npc's in the area have little 'quest bags' over them but do not update quests.

I was able to get most of the way up there but I refuse to do a jumping puzzle to advance a required quest. If I wanted to play a jumping game I'd find a platformer on one of my consoles.

The quest text from the gnome says that he's doing something that will let you fly in that area but it's not doing anything. Obviously something is broken so just saying "figure it out" is not going to get it fixed.

Quest: Pushing Ahead
Issue: Digmaster Hidswinn's flare clicky spot, is very very difficult to see being a light purple clicky on a light background. Had several of us confused for a long time.
Will be easier with RoI's, but still horrible.

Tried to go to EW and got stuck in mid air with same issues as DC. Called it a day there.

One sent me to the new lands, one wants me to talk to the queen which I did and she didn't want anything, and another called In search of the Feerrott. Which one are you speaking of. I was on the ones that sent me to the new lands, I got as far as the quest wanting me to restore damaged notes "Repairing the Records". I received no spell from the npc and have no broken notes, therefore can not continue that particular questline. My Question is am I missing something here? Where is it I should be questing and if this is not the signature quest which particular quest is the "overland signature quests" Thanks in advance!

Elowith Member Join Date: Jan 1970 Posts: 0	Further along the quest line, got a few updates for Stretched Reality and Research and Recovery, but am stuck unable to find more. Also all npc's in the area have little 'quest bags' over them but do not update quests.

If I wanted to play a jumping game I'd find a platformer on one of my consoles. The quest text from the gnome says that he's doing something that will let you fly in that area but it's not doing anything. Obviously something is broken so just saying "figure it out" is not going to get it fixed.

Errrorr Well-Known Member Join Date: Jan 1970 Posts: 0	Quest: Pushing Ahead Issue: Digmaster Hidswinn's flare clicky spot, is very very difficult to see being a light purple clicky on a light background. Had several of us confused for a long time. Will be easier with RoI's, but still horrible.
