as the subject states, i have a level 13 Shadowknight, i was wondering what is better? should i dual wield( i dont even know if i can) or should i use a sword and shield?and what does the "protection" stat mean on the shield? at first i was thinking it added to armor level (mitigation) but now i dont think it does, but i dont know what it does exactly either.thanks in advance.

If you're also going to go offensive, be sure to get a good 2 hander SMILEY. We are really the only class out of the fighters ment for 2 handers. Think Crusader and what do you see? =D

I use a sword and shield when I'm tanking for protection/avoidance purposes. Going DPS though (and tanking in everything but raids) I use the Fabled 2H from labs =D. Gotta love particle effects. SMILEY

I'm also a newbie SK. I'm just about to ding level 10 and I have some similar questions too.

When I'm soloing, I'm using a 2 hander to cut down the mobs fast, but when I get to tank for a group, then I would have thought a sword and board should be the norm with defensive stance up. However, when I solo, I find that the offensive stance - I think thats what it is, it reduces mit, STR, etc but only increases slash, pierce, bash skills - really has a serious impact on my health. So now I only solo using defensive stance, especially on group mobs. What do you guys use when soloing and what  stance?

What stat should SK focus on? I heard INT seems to have an important benefit for SK's if so, in what way?

Thanks. SMILEY

The stance depends on what kind of mob Im gonna go after. If its blue/white heroics, Im in defensive stance. Otherwise I am either in offensive or none at all.¨

As far as stats; STR increases your melee damage and your power, WIS increases your power and your resists, INT increases your spell damage.
And since your spells are your primary source of damage, INT does have quite a large impact on sks.
Personally I am a pvping SK and will prolly not have the same build as the strictly PvE dudes. SMILEY I go for all my stats, except agi, but int wis and str primarily.

There's two from labs, Rak'leklo, Runeblade of the Doomflight, drops off Doomsworn Zatrakh, and Gaudralek, Sword of the Sky, which drops off Lord Vyemm himself, Gaudralek looks much nicer, both with particle effects. Rak'leklo has better stats and a nice lifetap proc, Gaudralek has a higher damage rating, a standard damage proc and lower stats, the one in my sig is Rak'leklo.

I'd like to get Gaudralek, makes for better DPS while raiding, Rak'leklo for soloing (Lifetap Proc), and of course a 1h/Shield for groups.

I am almost 40 now, I tend to stick with offensive stance with a shield, question I have is, when my legendary or better  2h dropps, do people run in defensive mode with a 2h? (switching out quickly to offensive for MT or any big damage and then switching back)
