I thought this new launcher was for both EQ2x and EQ2 Live, so I joyfully went and deleted my multiple EQ2 installs expecting to reinstall one client that would rule them all (an update of the station launcher would have been nicer tbh from my pov).

But the only launchers I can find both use flash...

everquest2.com > get game > download game > starts download of EQ2_Streaming_setup.exe (EQ2 Live)

or

everquest2.com > Play for Free (button) > Play for Free (button) > Play for Free (button) > starts download of EQ2X_NewUser_Streaming_Setup.exe (EQ2X)

or using the new launcher faq

EQ2 Live forums > new launchpad announcement > http://help.station.sony.com/app/an...tail/a_id/30589 > "New LaunchPad Install Link" > http://www.everquest2.com/get_the_game/buy_now .... not a client download, but AoD information :-/

So exactly where do I download the new launcher, that works on both my EQ2 Live and EQ2x toons without the need to have 2 clients, and which do not use flash?

I think you're jumping the gun here a bit early. SMILEY

The announcement said that the new launchpad would go into beta yesterday (Wednesday the 30th).

The launchpad will go live today (Thursday the 1st)

This launchpad will not allow you access to both games quite yet, as the two services have not merged.  Instead, they will merge come next Tuesday (the 6th).

At that point in time, you will only need one program.

thought it would be Thursday 1st around 9Am my time. So I have to wait until Dec 7th until the new launcher makes sense :p

Going to run the streaming eq2x client until then I guess.

Launchpad still going live today? No downtime announcements anywhere. Will it require downtime?

No downtime, it just downloads and updates on the fly. I noticed it updated on the beta side this morning, but not live yet.

I'm sitting here, waiting to be amazed. My original-install, first-generation EQ2 launcher is ready to go on Social Security, having earned its well-deserved retirement.

Since the following statement was made just 2 days ago concerning Tuesday's non-patch patch, I would not expect the new Launcher to be pushed to the Live servers until the patch notes are posted.  The Launcher surely must fall under a "Player Facing" change, shouldn't it?

Bunji wrote:

There were no player facing changes with this downtime which is why no patch notes were listed.  The downtime was for some database maintenance.  I can put up patch notes that mention this in the future to prevent confusion.

And I don't beleive it for a second ...

Your assuming that a rule for posting patch notes associated with server downtime should apply to a launcher patch that doesn't involve server downtime. The various launchers patch all the time, I don't remember seeing any patch notes for specific launcher patches before.

Did the date for the new launcher change again? I am still able to log in with the original launcher.

Last guestimate I heard was 10:00am Pacific, 1:00pm Eastern.

But I don't think that's set in stone.

Hmm, guess there's no new launcher today. They should have given it more time in beta apparently...kinda odd to have something only supposedly a few hours in beta.  There's probably issues with it.

Well it's Thursday 12/1 and I'm loving the new laun....oh wait it didn't update.  Nevermind I'll just keep waiting for the next "content involving AoD has been pushed back even further cause it's a total cluster F at the moment" message to be postsed.

As of 12/1/11 @ 11:11am PST, there is still no new launchpad. I searched for this post to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong.

Is this going to update the really old launcher, like from the CDs?

No, according to the link above. We get the launcher on the same day as AoD goes live. I think we should plan on not being able to log in on launch day SMILEY

Starting at 12pst?

I don't understand.  Is the process of adding the new launcher for us to download at 12pst something that takes time after 12pst?  Why not tell us when we can actually download it?

This is deceiving since it seems like you're telling us we can start it up at 12pst, but it's an hour later and nothing.

My LP3 (live) upgraded to LP4...

First impression, it takes waaaay longer to switch between EN_US and EN_EU regions than the old version!

Nor I. Granted, I'm using the very original EQ2.EXE from the original install, but my understanding is, all launchers were to automagically update.

Launchpad up and going.. transition was seamless.  No problems here.

Looks nice and is really fast.  Much faster than even LP3.

Love it! SMILEY

What did you convert from? Another LP, or the original launch client?

New launcher is nice.  Only thing I don't like is that it doesn't automatically close upon clicking play.  Also, I think it would be cool if we could directly launch LON from this launchpad as well.

Station Launcher 1.1.12 (Build 1.1.12.1075273) still working perfectly happily here with no "auto" upgrade.
