Washington!

How about letting fans determine which cities will be considered?

Many of us seem to have favored sites.   If a longer lead time were available for Fan Faire we could lobby for specific cities and fans could vote on them.

I live in NE Florida, have 2 kids and a limited budget.  There's no way we're flying anywhere.  I voted Orlando because I can drive there and that might be the only way we'd ever get to go.  Even Atlanta would be a bit of a stretch, but it is better than any of the others.

Again, if you say Louisiana and Chicago aren't east coast, than neither is Vegas on the west coast, and thus we've been more ignored than you all.  Compare distances.  Those of us ON the West Coast would like one actually closer to the coast, such as San Diego, San Francisco again, or Portland.

I personally think that vegas would not be fair to the rest of the eq or soe community because people that do not have the money to fly can not go and having it in the same spot 2 years in a row would be degrading soe players by pretty much saying that vegas is the best spot i vote for orlando .......tourist capital of the world then peeps could come see disney, universal and all of the other unique dinner shows and places in florida. not trying to put anyone down but think about your fellow soe players and pick a different place to have it.

I know Vegas sounds like a blast, but it's been done and it'd be nice for a change of coastline (so to speak). I voted Orlando because it's the best climate for the time of year. Vegas is 106 dry heat on the best of days, with little more to do outside of the Fan Faire than gamble. While DC is a beautiful city, it's expensive and congested and honestly, I don't think we should put ourselves that close to the current administration. Orlando is a bit humid, but it's got tons of things to do after dark, especially near the theme parks.

Come to Orlando. You'll love it. And Starsider pilot (of either faction) get a drink on me SMILEY

I could not care less where it is held since SOE ignores EQOA customers for all intents and purposes.  Last year the EQOA booth was basically two cobbled together PS2's in a broom closet with hamsters running on wheels to provide the electricity. Based on that I wouldnt care to see any of the other products on display either.

that been said,  Vegas  would be cool ! the pool party last year was my favourite,  seeping unlimited free drinks while watching half drunk ppl jumping on the stage and  sing like rock stars was fun ^o^  not to mention dacing /chatting with your friends , and jumping into the pool with them in shorts and shirts ! hehe but pleeeease, don't  make it start at 7 pm and end at 10 ... that's hardly enough time  and the night had just begun when the party had to end.

The dinner party at last night was kinda boring, most of the people from our server left mid way, the ones that stayed for the after dinner party listed on the program (which  never happened)  ended up  going to a strip club --- and oi that's something I will never forget hahaha

Maybe instead of picking 5 player from 1 game and go up to the stage do something, pick 2 player from each of your game and have them on the same stage and interact with each other . That way players from all of your games would feel invovlved .

o yah ,,, another thing.... the AC was way too cold @[email protected] I'm packing a sweater and long pants this time if it's held in Vegas again haha

Um, Hello, New York City? City that never sleeps? While you go to caucus with the dorks, your spouse and kids can go see unrivalled art museums, enjoy outdoor cafes and fine dining, poke about in the natural history museum, see the Bronx Zoo, ascend to the top of the Empire State Building, go to a Yankees game, stroll through a vibrant metropolis with activity EVERYWHERE, explore Central Park (and I daresay Prospect Park as well, during daylight hours), and otherwise experience a city continuously occupied for about 400 years, maybe even take a daytrip up in the Hudson Valley, which, as many may know, was early America's foundation for believing this country was specially graced by God for its unparalleled natural beauty.

No, No, I'm sure it's much more sensible to go to Vegas, a disneyfied ex-brothel, or D.C. a husk of a town, with nothing but the Smithsonian and the Lincoln Memorial to redeem it.

I don't remember the third option, but, again: New York. The city so great, even the republicans swallowed their BS and came here to party for their party.

EDIT: Gaaaahh...you're actually considering Orlando? You're kidding, right? /barf

Vegas is a couple of hours from LA. Chicago is over a day's driving from NYC, and obviously further from Boston, and so on.

Why Vegas again? Give people in another part of the country a chance to go. In my opinion it would not be fair to have it in the same place 2 years in a row. It's time for the East coast again, DC is my vote.

Ok, befor you can sugjest a city please name the Hotel that has rooms for 2k people as well as the convention space for it.

I would love to see a Fan Faire in Sacrmento(my hometown) but we would have to be split between 3 differant Hotels and only 2 of them within walking distance of the Convention Center(wich is NOT part of the Hotel its across the street).

I can't vote for any of those. Sorry. New York City is consistently left out of any/all gaming conventions and quite frankly I find it disappointing. I understand there are all these union headaches and whatnot to deal with when it comes to holding a convention in NYC, but really, the sheer number of people you could have attend an event there would more than pay for whatever overhead costs you may incur. Next time please consider NYC... and perhaps next time I might actually think about attending.

Obviously for next time, SoE needs to pick the exact center of the US, and build a dedicated hotel/convention center for FF.This would have some cool advantages as the hotel could look Freeport, the Convention Center be PoK, and the nightclub Neriak.Leave it up 365 days a year, and make everyday a FF day.

I have lived in DC area and would love to go but it's cost prohibitive... just a pricy area to visit. Vegas is easy to get cheap tix to and there are plenty of places for everyone to stay at and enjoy at every price point (check out Station Casinos! A huge value for hotel rooms). Sure it would be two years in a row but the biggest convention in the world, CES, goes to Vegas every year and no one gets upset about that!

Did the voting locations change or something.  Cause I thought we had voted once already.  I remember last week (or two weeks ago) researching when the Cisco Networkers conference was in Orlando and posting about not being the weekend before them if we end up there. So can someone explain what occurred?

Thanks,

You know I wonder why Vegas (with all respect) is in the picture considering that was where it was last year.  I would think that if you want to get a different fan input as well as do a proper tour, you would select a different area each year and even plan a year in advance to promote the following years at the current one.

Just my 2 additional cents.

Please, please select Orlando.  Give the otherside of the Country a chance to participate in Fan Faire.  I would love to attend and cannot if it is in Vegas or elsewhere.  Too expensive to fly there and the journey would take up more from vacation time, when I could be enjoying the Fan Faire event.  I'm sure others have the same situation.  In addition, to hold Fan Faire in Vegas year after year is just not fair to those on a limited budget that could attend if it were held closer to their home towns.  Give us all a chance.  Please!!!

As for the whole "Why not New York City?!" argument... well the answer is the same reason that almost no other conventions go their either... it's cost prohibitive.  People dont want to spend 200$+ per night for the hotell room alone.  The only hotells in NYC with large enough convention space to accomodate something like the fan faire are rediculously expensive.  There's no parking anywhere for people who want to drive to the fan faire, etc.

Hey DC is 45 min from us, and we have a spare bedroom we can rent for a LOT less than you can rent a hotel for.

However The date for Vegas are our Anniversary weekend....so that works too...

When will we get a chance to vote for a European location, would be nice if could have one that had at least a chance of being able to visit, as long as their only held in America, then will never be able to go to a Fan Faire, as its just too far to travel to. Holding one in the UK would be awesome, much as i dislike France, i'd even go there if there was a Fan Faire held there.

Vegas is on there because despite everything SoE wants to have their Fan Faire's in Vegas. They have had a ton there and know that people will come here and vote for Vegas.

As for the different poll. They had Orlando split into 2. Which IMO was highly unfair since the votes get split into half. We had 400ish votes then. I'm pretty sure SoE did not broadcast that their poll was reset so the people who did vote do not know to come back.

While that may be true, Vegas is also like the convention capital, and it's probably the easiest place to get a booking for an event that pulled in 1300+ people in ONE DAY last year.

Las Vegas all the way. Had a blast last year, but please get some more vendors and EQ2 stuff we can buy. I spent all my money on gambling instead of buying EQ2 stuff that i was originaly planning on. Rio was a great choice, and please try to make the whole registration easier this year, like maybe mailing to us badges, goodies and such, instead of waiting in line for over 2 hours. That was my only complaint i had for last year.

I dont disagree with SoE wanting it in Vegas. I do however feel like they have manipulated the whole "poll" thing the past couple of years. It's their company and they can do w/e they want wherever they want. But if they want it in Vegas then why start poll's so people can vote where its going to be.

I could be completely wrong in the fact that they are manipulating it. Last year Orlando was in the lead and everyone was skepticle because for some reason they knew Vegas would win no matter what. Then the polls got "hacked" and there was around 4k+ votes on each city. So they restart the polls and Florida got half the votes of the original poll. The other city at the time (cant remember which) got like 1/4 of their original votes.

If FF does not come to Florida thats fine. But at least spread it around more. Give others a shot to go and meet the devs, hit on FV, or w/e it is people do at Fan Faire.
