This was a fun solo instance, and not difficult to figure out.  I ran it on my fully raid geared Mystic, with her pet and the SS inquis merc.  It wasn't difficult to kill the mobs, except for the doom toothed gnorgers (are they supposed to be called gnorgers instead of gorgers?).  The problem I had with those is that there are so many of them in one area and I wasn't able to pull just one group so I had a LOT of them hitting me which made it difficult to cast spells.  Plus, I only have 2 AoE spells, and I can imagine this being really difficult for a non-raid geared casual player with no AoE's.  (Maybe I just pulled too fast and didn't try hard enough to find a way to pull just one group.)

Otherwise, it was a visually interesting zone, and fun to do.  I will have to try it on a non-raid geared character.  SMILEY

Thank you for the awesome feedback!

Would be great if you could try to run it on a non-raid geared character?

Let me know if you need gear or something.

I am testing it on Tylia, equipped in just the legendary items that come in the bauble bag in the mail.  I am using a Skyshrine Monk merc with her.  I will let you know how it goes.  SMILEY

Ok, here is my report after running this solo instance on Tylia, dressed in all legendary items.

  • The first scorpion I fought was very difficult (almost like it was a heroic) and hit very hard.   There was another one that was the same, but rest were easily manageable. I died once to each of the difficult scorpions, and had to cast heals a lot to get through the fight.  Were those meant to be that difficult and hit that hard?  Non-healers will have a difficult time getting past them.  (I will have to try the zone on my dirge next)
  • The spiders were no problem.
  • The group of Ashlok creatures around the fire on the ground were manageable.  I kept hearing the "gong" sound but there was no clue as to what it was supposed to signal.  No text on the screen or in chat.. no adverse effects from it. This was the same throughout the zone when the "gong" would sound.
  • The gnorgers are extremely difficult encounters requiring extensive healing and I still died on most pulls.  I was constantly being hit with multi-attacks which causes real problems with casting and I can see non-healers (especially ones without AoE's) having an impossible time with the gnorger encounters (I will have to try it out on my dirge).  I think the main problem I was having with them was the multi-attcks that were constant.  That kind of battle is not at all friendly to a caster, especially when there are 4 mobs in an encounter.  SMILEY
  • The 1 arrow down gnorgers that come with Errlik the Bludgeoner have a LOT of hp and take a while to kill while the name was killed rather quickly.
  • No problems with the rest of the mobs or names.
  • No exit at the end of the zone. After escaping, no way out of the zone in door either.  I'm trapped again with man eating fleas!

One other question, when this goes live, will there be any way to combine the helpful rock items that drop with the ones that drop in the Skyshrine solo instances?  If not, that is going to be a LOT of rocks to carry around for players that do both sets of solo zones.  SMILEY

My impression of this zone on a non-raid geared character is that the zone is very manageable with the exception of the gnorgers, who are very unfriendly to casters.  I was able to pull just one group of the gnorgers at a time, but they are still vicious with that multi-attack.  I will try the zone on my dirge (with inquis merc) to see how a non-healer and with no AoE's does.  SMILEY

Ok, those gnorger encounters are just nearly impossible (it took a while and 2 uses of a repair kit [yeah, I died 18 times], but I got past them all) for me to do on my dirge (who has an inquis merc).  She is equipped in a mix of raid and legendary items, and she just gets smacked dead by them before having time to do much of anything.  I didn't have any real problems with the mobs on the ground (except the couple of difficult scorpions and they just took longer to kill and required heals from my merc), and the Ashlok on the way up to the gnorgers were no problem.  But the gnorgers are a major road block.

Maybe they're sick of eating man eating fleas.

EDIT to add: I swapped out some of her equipment with items from the bauble bag that were a bit of an upgrade for her.  I was able to finally get through the first two three four sets of gnorgers (said as I'm banging my head against the wall and begging my inquisitor merc to toss me a heal BEFORE I get down to 3% health.  Thank the gods for repair kits.  /sigh ).

I have not figured out the "trick" to Merglok the Slasher yet, and when he starts spinning with fury, he rips my dirge and merc to shreds.  I was able to heal through it on my fury and mystic.  I finally made it past him.

I had no problems with the rest of the zone, and it was definitely a very challenging run on a non-healer, however, it was doable with persistance, determination, and effort.  My merc is now asking for hazard pay.

Adding my two cents... Tested as fully raid geared, level 95 Wizard.

The NPCs in here inflict way too much damage for this to be legitimately called a solo zone. Incoming damage from a predatory bonesnapper: 10622, 13596 multiattack, DoT 10866. This is far too much damage! Random teleports are highly disoriting and very annoying. I found this zone hard to navigate because everything on the ground looked the same. I couldn't tell if I had killed the NPCs around this corner or not. I found the hostile gnorgers impossible to kill. There are 2 big linked groups of them. They aggro socially, and have lots of HP. I got hit 20 times in 5 seconds of combat with these guys, average hit was 3.7k, total damage incoming 73k. This is 14600 damage per second roughly - this is NOT soloable. After dying 9 times trying to get past the gnorgers, I gave up and left the zone. NPC stoneskin all damage while under res effects. This wastes tons of time, and dying should not be so very easy in a solo zone. This zone is overpowered and underrewarding, and is useless to me as it is.

I ran this on my ranger Sievert (EM some HM raid gear); the Dot from the bonesnappers would kill me in 2 or 3 ticks if I didn't cure and if I got more then one it was over. I was able to get up to the gnorgers. I wasn't able to get past these. I only had a pally merc but they would make quick work out of him and then come kill me right off. Everything was really easy with the exception of some of the bonesnappers (their dots...) and the gnorgers are just impossible to defeat. They might of been doable with a healer merc but by the time I waited on rez sickness to lift 5 times I was done and didn't have the desire to redo the zone with on. That brings up another issue, you can't dmg anything with rez sickness, I can just see the QQ about this now. Do the current solo zones have this? Plus it makes it a pita trying to test the zone.

Not being able to damage things with rez sickness is a bug. Will take a look at it.

I will look at the bone snapper dot.

my issues as a paladin in SS faction gear, the ST jewelry set, Ethereal weapon and Charm...was yeah on the Gnorger groups. each one of them little buggers can multiattack, and they have some kinda 2 second buff they put on that makes it worse. they were very nasty.

the Slasher named killed me several times within seconds of him doing his spinning fury. there's nothing that counters him, he's not rooted in place...the only way I beat him was basically popping both my stoneskins and antideath going off. his attacks while in 'spinning fury' mode were around 14-15k per hit. I can't see a clothy even standing a prayer against him. the first time it popped up I just tried to power through it..died in a few hits. second time I saw the red text of him spinning and figured okay, if he spinning around like a tazmanian devil and hitting for 15k a swing...maybe he's rooted so you just back off when he does it. nope, died again.

other then that the zones was pretty fun. the teleporting around from certain mobs was a little disorienting, but not too bad.

He should root in place and give you time to move. I shall fix that.

a predatory bonesnapper

  • hemotoxin hitting me anywhere form 5.2k to 19.5k a pop.
  • Can't be dmg with rez sickness

They are doable, you just have to cure. I actully like them the way they are, you just can't get more then one on you with out having a healer merc.

a hostile gnorger

  • Can't be dmg with rez sickness
  • Insainly hard and impossible to do with out ding with out being a healer or having a healer merc.

They are easly 200% harder then any mob including name before them and after them. Bring a healer is almost mandatory for them. I killed them off one and two at a time, die and then repeat on each group of them. I then went and got a healer merc and the difficulty went from way down. With how easy the rest of the zone is, scaling them down 200% either by lowering there dmg output or health wouldn't hurt. Or you could bring the other mobs in the zone up in defficulty wouldn't hurt either.

These two mobs are the only one that seem to not take dmg while you have rez sickness the rest you can kill off a will.

After throught; I am still only 92, so the gnorger will prob be a ton easier at 95 but if that is the case the rest of the zone will be a snap. Actually the rest of the zone I almost one shot so bring up the HP on most mobs might be a good idea.

I looked at your character on EQ2U and you are very well geared in raid items.  That does make a difference for how "easy" the zone is to do.  For characters that are not equipped in raid items, the results are a bit different.  SMILEY

The advanced solo zone in SS is harder then this zone excludeing the gnorgers. The gnorgers are just insanely hard atm. Add in a healer merc and this zone will pose no deficulty when they get the gnorgers tuned correctly.

DP Advanced solo is a cake walk, even on my non-raid geared ranger, and easier than this zone.  This zone is not at all difficult on a raid geared character (with the exception of the gnorgers), and a good ranger can do a lot of damage in one arrow shot anyway.  The challenge level and difficulty is about where it should be for characters that do not have raid gear in my opinion (again, with the exception of the gnorgers, which are going to be adjusted).  While I didn't have any other major problems in the zone except the gnorgers on my dirge, it was by no means a "one shot blast through".  I don't raid on my dirge, she's just a "diversion" away from healing once in a while, but it's nice that I will be able to take her in to the solo zones and have fun.

As to adding in a healer merc.. if it will make it too easy-peasy for you then leave your healer merc in the tavern for the run.  SMILEY

The thing is he can't tune it or shouldn't tune it without taking into account for a healer being in the group. Being this zone allows a buddy (merc or PC) it needs to be harder. I'll run it with the gear in the beta gear bag they give and see, but I expect I'll still be able to walk right through with how easy every mob is.

Should be a large amount of changes after the build today. I believe the new beta build will be done around 5pm PST.

the only change that I could tell was you can now dmg the two mobs I listed with res sickness. The gnorgers are still the hard mobs in the zone. The two groups on the island thing with the name will stop a lot of people from progressing in this zone that uses a merc and don't have good pet control knowledge.

And....

OMG these forusm are so slow these days... Makes me not even want to attempt feedback anymore.

Yes they are. New forums on the 9th. Hopefully they are substantially better...

I guess the next step is to tier them down... the gnorgers that is.

OMG these forusm are so slow these days... Makes me not even want to attempt feedback anymore.

Actually I think I finally found the issue with the gnorgers. I am not going to say what, because its embarassing. = P

Also you might want to make the area that triggers a zone out a bit bigger as I had to run in and out of the area a phew times before it finally detected me.

I changed the solo gnorgers a few times, but the encounter was using the heroic versions of the mob with heroic buffs. lol

I had many issues in this zone on a few mobs with a 92 sk with beta buff/armor. Notice each one I had trouble with said heroic on the con. Yes, adv. solo is meant for good solo or par duos, but not with heroic mobs, heroic means to me 4-6 toons.

Just so you know, that fix hit tonight. Gnorgers are doable now.
