Zavith'loa: The Lost Caverns [Advanced Solo], [Heroic]
Zavith'loa: The Hidden Caldera [Solo], [Advanced Solo], [Heroic]
Zavith'loa: The Hunt [Heroic]

Entrance is located on the NE side of the northeastern island in Tranquil Sea. Look for the giant bone door.

I've lumped these into a single thread to avoid forum clutter, but will split it off later if needed. When replying with feedback or bugs, please specify which dungeon you were in.

-Hidden Caldera, SOLO-

Gonna go out on a limb and guess that the Fiery Effigy of Clotl'thoa was the last boss in here. The openness and the dinosaurs out in the giant caverns made it feel like there might be something else. Anyways, for just the regular solo zone a mob or two hit pretty hard given defensive stance with 2/2 mystical armor, but it's pretty doable at 95. The last named did NOT work how I thought it would. small lava altar, fiery effigy named who is super slow, and giant open room to run him around in... Just reads that you have to kite him around in the giant open space.

Three named is correct. Some of the solo zones have a reduced number of named bosses to allow for slightly longer boss fights while not dragging out the time it takes to complete the zone. The extra dinos (deinos?) in the rest of the zone are just there for flavor, and are not meant to be a further challenge, though you can certainly attempt them, if you dare. Eventually, there should be an exit portal or object of some kind once you defeat the Cazic statue.

Thanks for the feedback!

Hehe. They're just copies of the basepop in the heroic version of The Lost Caverns... so they're a bit mean Wink

Caldera [Solo] (Partly heroic geared Lock) this zone was good difficulty, if not a bit easy with a merc, but I'm sure with those a bit lower geared it would be good difficulty, especially for the last named, although I'm not sure he's supposed to die at a percent but I looked away when he was at 50% to fight his adds and when I finished the add off he was dead...? Backgrounds and overall cave structure is just awesome, the new foliage adds a bit of flare to it as well.

Can you possibly give a waypoint to the zone in? I have looked and looked and cannot find it. Frown

Zavith'loa: The Lost Caverns [Advanced Solo]

I did this at level 100 as a Energized/overcharged geared Inq. The mount system to take you to each named is great. When I got to the first named, I attemped Gra'ta the Mountain. I kept some heals up and didnt try much on dps but the debuffs that stack on you are crazy. I feel like this is a high dps/hps check mob unless I am missing something. Wasn't sure what to do about the adds since the stun + intake damage was really high. Think I pulled this named about 8 times and the last time I got it. For an advanced solo, I wouldn't of thought having high dps and survivability would be a mix. Here is what I got for the first named:

(01:05) Gra'ta the Mountain: 1114750 Raidion-Harrowing Tempest-674809Raidi | 1114750 | 85260.14
Took me 1.1 mil dps (with verdict ~20ish%) and spiked over 100k in hps but dropped down to 85k total due to taking the adds down after the name. I took a total of 3 stuns during the fight. The difficulty of this one might need to be checked, i'll explain why in a moment...

The second named, Beastmaster Kau'mua, was a good fight. Really nothing hard about it. Not sure if you could take hits from the pet or not but I didn't try so I kited it and ranged it down. Something that moves really slow and glows usually means something that can stomp you.

The (assuming last?) named/round event was alright. I was expecting something a little more challenging than a stat debuff from the last round named. It was pretty simple with a cure though.

Overall though, the first name difficulty compared to the last 2 was a bit of a landslide. 7 wipes to the first named, 1 wipe on the second named (only because of the dino add with that tail swipe got me), and 0 wipes on the "boss".

tbh the one I gave was probably a different zone in.
I would try /waypoint -1265, 80, -724

The first two names were ok. An encounter of 4 ^ trash that spawned adds took 3 deaths to whittle through though. The last name was unbeatable for me. I never got him lower than 98% and became very overwhelmed with adds. I will have to try this again another time.

Should have been 3 in that zone. The guy who summons the bird, the priest-mage mob after the dispelled portal, and the lava named.

tbh I got lost in the mass of the zone, killed the first name and what I assume the 2nd name (throne of lava) easy enough, then I went running around the meadow of mushrooms and stuff and couldn't find my way around

1st named kept spawning adds after he was dead and was vary easy to kill
last named the lava didnt do any dmg when you stand in it
the 2nd named didnt have a star by his name and was overly easy with a troub and pally in the group he was dead inside of 15sec
This is the solo version of the instance

Overall difficulty is where it should be for a lvl 95 zone, slightly tougher than ToV, but doable in ToV gear. As an Illy I went through w/o much trouble, died twice on final name due to stupidity, but once I repositioned it all made sense. Nice quick zone compared to the other solo's I've tried out.

Calera Solo

I agree a little bit with this. The non-relevant parts of the zone are way too big. I got knocked off the edge by the dive-bombing pterosuars on the second named and ran around for 10 minutes trying to find my way back up. I finally ended up just attacking a heroic mob so I could die and revive back up on the walkways. Maybe block off at least SOME of the extra space to keep the open feel, but not make it so massive.

Aside from that, the mobs seemed fine to me, possible a little easy. I walked through most of the zone without any issues. Three things worth commenting on.

1. The first two named seemed far too easy. I'm a moderately geared conji (mix of non gemmed potent and gemmed arcane) and I was able to burn through both of them with ease. I might give them some more HP's and force you through their scripts more. I had the second named dead after the first bird dive bombed
2. There were some lava creature adds up by the spot where you defile the statue that deal out significant more damage than the rest of the trash. Their dot seems excessive.
3. Now that I know how to kill the final named, it's not that hard. It would be nice if there were something to at least hint what you need to do to defeat him during the fight, whether it's an emote or reaction by him to being in the lava or something.

Just to clarify, the first boss in The Lost Caverns (Gra'ta the Mountain) does not summon any adds. If the ipsumodons in the surrounding area are left unkilled, they assist him. I'd like to come up with a better way to communicate this so that it doesn't catch people off-guard, but I haven't had time to revisit that fight just yet. Ideally I'd make him unattackable until the surrounding dinos were killed, but then you could just walk past him... I'll get back to this problem sometime next week. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions, I'm open to them =)

Just finished Zvath'loa Solo with Inqui and Monk Merc blabbermouth Ashenwing. It went better than broken Skull solo.

none of the encounters were really sweat breaking but the last.. after finding out waht make this encounter tick it was good to go.

Equip is Potent 3/3 Heroic gear.

I will give this another try doing it that way. Thank you. I do wonder though, why does he have a huge aggro range? Not sure of the distance because i haven't switched UIs yet. Don't think it is a huge issue by any means but didn't quite understand why unless its just the size of the mob that makes a difference.

The Hidden Caldera [Adv Solo] - 98 Bruiser, 3/3 potent and heroic geared

Trash are decent, the lavacrafters feel too powerful right now, I dont have the dps to burn those lava adds they summon and the adds burns my 1.1m hp within seconds.

Yu'lua - Feels ok for his hp. Damage may be slightly high. I still disagree with uncurable effects in solo dungeons and it being an uncurable stifle is kinda rough - however there is a ready supply of Stifle-immunity gems from Vesspyr, so I cant say much about it. Know your enemy, right?

Found it quite easy, 10 time easier than the first solo instance. Loved last boss.

Warden in potent 4/3 but mostly using junk arcane dps gear or potent ungemmed with ZE and melee dps stats
(indeed a mix ... ).

First named Pterotrainer Yula : did quite nothing, called little dinos (as expected pterossaurs)
that may be stun -- but i am immune -- killed them and switched back ...
Almost no healing. Hps 40K, dps 350K.

Second named High priest Hamanu Akaba : summoned lava pets. Pet do cast a nuke (slowly), i did not interrupt it hurts but it's ok .. anyway one can probably interrupt that. My dps was not big enough to kill them before they nuke, but almost. She self healed too a bit (indeed it was quite noticeable and i almost started to worry about having to interrupt her).
HPS 15K, dps 400K.
she did 100K hps.

Third named Fiery effigy of Cloth toa Took me a bit to understand that he was immune outside lava, i noticed his buff even before pulling, moved him back to lava and after a while in lave he started to hurt ... so i moved it out so that his power will decrease. There is a clear buf counter (he started to hurt really around 4 stacks). I was afraid that it will heal out when out of lava but no.

Fun fight ... Cannot give date since ACT splitted the encounter into 3 ...
His biggest hit was 250K when fully buffed (3 or 4).

Add on third named never ended to come but they were very weak and slow.

Quite different from the Boat where i died like 6-7 times to complete the instance, here not a single death and i never used any emergency spell. The topography is also much better, the boat is horrible to navigate in.

Little note : some trash cast some weird spell that may be reflect or something like that or may it is a damage shield by rather strong. I sort of ignored it and just healed through the reflect, dps may have to joust that.

People without 100% ZE will hate the packs of many many mobs ....

It seems hat the boat will be the next-nexus (the instance people hate) ... and this one a fun short easy one ...

The Hidden Caldera [Solo]

Just ran this on the channeler, start to finish was done in 12 minutes. Difficulty wise, I'd say this is the easiest dungeon I've ran so far, good for people in ToV quest / heroic gear. As a channeler with a pally merc it was a simple tank and spank the entire way through, nothing required anything more than that.

Not too surprising given your gear and class, click Salvo and whatever clicky you have an 1 shot him ;-)

I did a mistake on my first run, i nuked from range and he was down to 80% when he came out of pool.
So rushing him with Aerlyn card and using self dps buf, using Howling with the pack when he get 3 or more buf i may be able to kill him without moving him out to remove his damage buf.

The issue with AS solo is to tune encounter, raid geared ranger does 2-3m dps (solo ST) may be more, raid geared tank with only %HP block parry mit does 300K so ten time less.

Assume my paladin run this, them he will take him 2 3 or 4 move in lava move out phases. Even if he had dps gear (he does not, i don't even run TOV As with him i fell asleep then ... i do it with necro, warden and fury) it would still take him a lot of time.

I m sure he can beat the boat, but i m not ready for a 20 mn fight.

Hidden Caldera Advanced Solo, mostly BiS raid geared ranger.

Killed pretty much everything sub 3 seconds, killed the last named before it could even walk out of it's lava pool. The invisible cube trying to repair your gear every 30 seconds gets a tad bit annoying, but whatever I guess. I can also kite the ^^^ heroic mobs and kill them in 5 or 6 auto rounds. Also you can run around and explore the rest of what I assume is the heroic zone, there aren't any invisible walls or anything.

The Piercing Screech det that the ^^^ pterodactyls cast doesn't list any damage on it, yet they do damage when they cast it on you.

Just started the Hidden Caldera, Solo version; I'm a 95 paladin in BG gear that I think is the equivalent of gemmed arcane. I'm paired with Bdorn.

The initial trash mobs were all easy - easier than Brokenskull in fact. Then I got to Pterotrainer Yula He was 100, orange con. He called in pterodactyl friends very quickly and I soon found myself perma stifled. I could beat on him, but couldn't heal, wall, or AOE (because I couldn't get off a combat art or spell) and pretty sure that Bdorn was in trouble too. Every now and then I managed to click something between stifles, or he got a heal off, enough that I just barely lived long enough to kill Yula- but not his adds, who killed me. I think the add rate is probably a bit high, or the stifle a bit much, if this is aimed at level 95 ToV quest/cryptic gear. If it is aimed at potent (or if the gear obtained up to this point in the quest will be better) might be just fine. I AM just shy of 96, and came her w/o finishing the quest line in the first pygmy camp (it's broken) - I suspect finishing that would have been just enough to get me to 96, so I'll test and compare again once I level.

Obviously I'm missing something. Just attempted to run the solo with 95 Berserker in cryptic.

The Hidden Caldera [Solo]

Pterotrainer Yula: Not to bad, the adds did stifle some but I was able to wait it out and AoE to get rid of most of them while focusing on Yula.

High Priest: Again, not to bad. I switched to the adds as they came in and just AoE'd to take him down while I was killing him. I did notice that once they started casting their Lava Breath they didn't turn so you could move behind them and avoid it. Just make sure that you turn the back so that they don't hit your poor merc with the next one.

Fiery Effigy: Haven't gotten past this one yet. Tried fighting him in the lava as was mentioned earlier and it starts out ok but then he starts hitting mer for 150k + crushing and his Unctrollable Heat is doing about the same. Poor Stamper can't keep up with that since I only have 350k HP. About to go back and try Kalika's method of pulling him out of the lava for a bit and then moving back in to see how that works.

ETA: Tried pulling him out of the lava but he moves really slow and if you get to far away he turns and 1 shots your merc. Even out of the lava he was hitting me for close to 100k and without a healer I can only take that for so long.

These are orange con so maybe I need to be 96 to have a shot with my gear but if so then that should be made clear, at least here on the forums somewhere.

In fact it'd be really nice if the devs that want us to test these would give us a definitive answer of what level/gear they're aimed at. I can tell you right now it's not 95 with cryptic. At least not solo/molo, maybe if you duo with a tank/healer pair.
